Steamboat Natchez Harbor Cruise

New Orleans, United States of America

Board the historic Steamboat Natchez to the delightful tunes of the Steam Calliope. Experience the sights and sounds of river life that enchanted characters of history and literature - like Mark Twain's Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer - and see the bustling activity of America's second largest port!

View the ever-changing skyline of 'The Crescent City' from the sunny decks or climate-controlled comfort of the majestic Steamer Natchez. Cruise past the Chalmette Battlefield, where the legendary Jean Lafitte and his buccaneers joined forces with Andrew Jackson to defend the city against the British in the Battle of New Orleans.

You also have the option to add on a delicious buffet lunch.

We had a wonderful time on the Steamboat Natchez. Very glad we chose the non-dining option - thought he food looked great, we got to sit outside the dining area and spent the entire two hours seeing the sights from the Mississippi, all the while getting information along the way about those sights from a very entertaining commentary. Having had the commentary on the journey away from the dock, we then enjoyed the entertainment of a dixieland trio back to the dock.

This was a good trip for my kids and I. Wish it was longer and more to do on the boat.

We booked the lunch option for this tour. This was a nice relaxing afternoon. We loved the food! We had grilled catfish, chicken breast, salad, beans and rice, and bread pudding. We were very full! You could listen to the narration about the Mississippi river which was interesting. After we got lunch at 12:15 we had a hard time finding a seat back in the shade because we wanted to sit outside. Overall it was an enjoyable tour!

We loved our ride on the Natchez Steamboat. Even though the line was extremely long, the boarding process was quick and smooth. There was plenty of room for everyone on the decks with alot of seating along the railings. WE did not choose the meal option but were still able to go into the dining room and purchase snacks and listen to the Jazz band. I'd definitely recommend this tour.

The only real steamboat on the Mississipi, we enjoyed the tour, it gives you a nice view of New Orleans, food was decent, weather was a little chilly.

Very boring.

Very relaxing tour and just gives another perspective of the city. We did the tour without the food portion better to eat on any of the restaurants in the area.

Had the lunch included. I suggest you bypass the luncheon. I was hoping for more variety and better quality. The boat cruise was okay. We did tour the engine room and found that interesting.

The food served on the lunch buffet cruise was good. The P.A. system needs to be updated. The pipe organ music that was played on the top of the steamboat at the dock was VERY loud actually PAINFULLY loud and lasted too long. There was plenty of seating and you got a good view from almost anywhere on the boat. However, there was not much to see except industrial buildings, freight boats and the muddy Mississippi. It was a nice diversion overall and we appreciated the novelty of the experience.

My family took the cruise on Christmas Eve, and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and a great value considering the beautiful backdrop of the river with an awesome jazz band. We also enjoyed learning more about the history of New Orleans and taking pictures on the water. It was great!

A really good 2 hours on the Mississippi with a jazz combo and lunch, the bread pudding is great, I had 3 portions. The commentary was very informative. I would really recommend this trip!!

The tour was great. I brought my twin 16 year olds and we had a blast. It was fun and informative. The pipe organ was an awesome surprise. The margarita was wonderful and the bartender was awesome. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is because the only parking cost $45.00. Seriously a crime !

We had a great time. The commentary of the ship's captain was very informative, and the jazz band on board was great. You get your money's worth on their drinks, too -- no scrimping on the rum in the hot chocolate buttered rum! The price is right, too. Enjoy!

this tour is a lot of fun and informative also the food is really good on the lunch tour. the salad dressing was very different from any I have ever had in my 69 years of eating, so I had to ask what it was. DARN IT WAS A SECRET

The tour was very informative and the buffet lunch was seasonal and delicious. The staff was very friendly and very professional. The boat was not too overly crowded so we were able to get our lunch promptly and move about the boat easily. There was just the right amount of narration and then a nice break to hear the live jazz music. I would recommend this tour!

An original experience. Very helpful crew and the food on offer was very well set out, plenty to choose from. The sights offered of the rivers history was great and tragic at the same time. The the early times to the devastation of the hurricane, its all there.

The line to board was very long, but once you're on the boat is spacious enough for everyone. The sights from the boat aren't that exciting, but the commentary was pretty good anyway. It was nice to be on the water with a cooling breeze. The buffet was actually delicious and you definitely won't be hungry!

I loved this cruise. It was very relaxing and I enjoyed the view, the ride and the music. The commentator on the cruise was wonderful - he was very knowledgeable, sharing great information and sites with us. Area for Improvement - It would be nice if they could scan your voucher @ the steamboat and skip the piece of turning your voucher in for a ticket. That piece is a waste of time!!!

Steamboat Natchez Harbor Cruise was very cool. Sailing up and down the Mississippi on a paddle boat was very relaxing and the entertainment wasn't bad either. The only thing that would have made it better was the weather. It was a very cool windy day but you had the option of sitting inside or outside. The buffet lunch was pretty good. We saw and heard a lot about the river and history of the area. I would definitely recommend it.

Steamboat Natchez was great. Sailing up and down the Mississippi on a steamed paddle boat was awesome. The buffet lunch was pretty good and the entertainment wasn't bad either. They gave us a lot of history about the area and the river. We also saw other paddle boats and barges. The only drawback was the weather. It was a cool and windy day so sitting on the desk was very cold but they have inside seating if you prefer.

Nice little trip down the river. You get to see a few spots along shore that you might not ordinarily think to visit. The tour guide was sometimes hard to hear but he pointed out many things along the way and gave you some insight to them Not all the sights are pretty but it gives you a look at industry in New Orleans. Very neat. We didn't have lunch but it was easy to get a drink at one of the many bars. After you turned around to head back to the city, that's when the tour part was over and the band played while you floated upstream.

Was a really good tour and is the last steam powered boat on the Mississippi with live jazz

Review by:   scott H,    October 2017 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The boat ride was nice and the guide was very informative. Unfortunately there was a wedding party taking pictures while we were trying to enjoy the ride and listen to the guide. Hate to be a party pooper but we paid for the ride just like everyone else and it was disruptive and rude to be asked twice to move from where we were sitting so that pictures could be taken. We had one person that had a foot injury so it wasn't like she could just jump up and get out of the way.

We didn't know what to expect, but this tour was great. The meal was excellent, the music was fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyedn steaming down the river.
