St Tropez Small Group Day Trip from Nice
Nice, France
Luxury yachts, fashion boutiques, terrace cafes where else but Saint Tropez? See where the beautiful people hang out on this small group day trip from Nice.
After leaving the motorway you'll take a scenic drive through the Maure Forest to arrive in the port of St. Tropez. You'll explore the town by mounting the steps to the pretty medieval village, visiting the Annonciade Museum or touring the Citadel with its naval museum.
You'll also make a stop at Port Grimaud, known as "Little Venice", to admire its canals, bridges, boutiques and charming houses. From June to September the tour includes a short sail across the stunning bay of St. Tropez.
There were six of us and we generally enjoyed the trip, but it wasn't what I expected. I organized the trip for my friends and felt a lot of pressure that it would be a worthwhile option to simply taking a train from Nice to St. Tropez. It turns out that we paid a lot of money to learn a few things about the local region, but I don't think we got a lot of value out of paying nearly 190 US dollars per person. My specific complaint is that the trip advertises a boat trip, which I assumed rightly or wrongly would be a trip with a guide and maybe a small group of people. Not necessarily a private boat tour for the six of us.....but not a trip on a ferry with 100 or so others that lasted 15 minutes. The way the boat trip is promoted is misleading don't be fooled -- it's simply a 15 minute ferry from one port to the other.

I really enjoyed this trip to St Tropez. Our charming tour guide Mathild, I think her name was, provided a wealth of information along the way and was great fun. Unfortunately, having not visited St Tropez before, I was unaware how busy it could be, although this may have been due to the Vespa meet.

St Tropez is such a nice place! And Port Grimaud, that we dropped by in the way home really reminds me of Bruges.

Excellent to see. Lots of free time. Hard to get to St Tropez so this tour was the way to go.

Tour guide was excellent taking us to very good touring spots. St Tropez was nice but not as spectacular as anticipated as the place was too crowded

Great way to explore Nice! This city has so much more than the beaches and shopping, and you can see it all through this tour. But be aware that the "little hill" decribed in the tour description is more than just an easy little uphill bike ride!

Saturday was a great day to go because the market was being held. It is a long drive (2 hours by car, plus boat ride), so recommend it if you are really interested in seeing St Tropez.

The only thing we disliked was the time needed to reach there. It took almost two and half hours. The place itself was amazing and we got what we expected, the view, the atmosphere and the shopping also. More time should be given to this place, rather than Port Grimaud, which offered next to nothing in things to see and experience. Especially after you have been to St. Tropez itself and other places like Grasse and Eze. Our driver, Su had been very helpful and accomodating.

More time could have been given to St Tropez as the once a year Voiles de St Tropez was taking place.

This tour is the only method to reach St. Tropez without headache of traffic jam (if you stay in Nice). Our guide was nice, but he didn't bother to tell stories/interesting moments on history or art of region at all. He brought us back to Nice around 4:30pm (much earlier than our guide of Monaco trour). So, we looked at him as just a driver, but not the guide. He gave us only 3 hours in St. Tropez and left us there immediately. It was 6 of us. A nice surprise was a speed boat ride from Ste. Maxim to the port of St. Tropez (instead of a long backroads way). Our tour was on Tuesday, when it's a market, so it was a huge crowd everywhere. Port Grimaud is a tiny hand-made village. We had an hour there, bought (5.50 euro/each) 20-min boat ride through all the canals. We'd prefer more time in St. Tropez with a guide walk around old town and citadel and cathderal. We are dissappointed by the guide and overall, but understand that we could not do it on our own without renting a car. If you can spend 300$+, do it. St. Tropez is spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not worth the cost of the trip. Spent too much time walking around St Tropez. Did not see much of anything else. Difficult to hear the guide from the back of the van.

The day was just too short to enjoy all the beauty and splendor of the area! The tour guide made sure that we at least saw the highlights. There were so many tourists during July, but we were placed in front of the line to get on one of the small boats to St Tropez, and we got picked up on time to leave by bus before it got even busier. No lines and no waiting. Wonderful!

We would have preferred to have more free time in St. Tropez.

The guide really didn't give us any info about St Tropez; we were just really driven there, dropped off, and left to find things and figure things out for ourselves. No history or background to the area given at all.

The tour is definitely worth doing. You get to see all the charm of St. Tropez, including the amazing museum of "l'Annociade", and the fantastic views from the seaside road, especially when passing by the "Corniche d'Or", in the Esterel.
