Enjoy exploring the beautiful island of Jamaica on horseback! After pickup from your hotel, you'll be given a brief overview and safety instruction. No experience necessary on this fun, adventurous tour! After this,your horseback riding adventure begins.
First, you'll ride towards the beach. You'll pass castles and sugar factories dating back nearly 500 years ago. Watch out for herons and other water fowl as you make your way through the shallow waters. Enjoy a refreshment at the end of your ride!
This by far was one of my favorite tours. I conquered my fear of horses. The tour guides were very knowledgeable about the sites and scenes we passed. We sang along the way. When we made it to the beach, we took a rest and then mounted our horses and took them out into the sea! Beautiful Experience!

I took this ride Dec 11 morning which was my birthday. We had a guided tour guide that made me feel very comfortable which was my first time in about 25 years riding. We went on a path to the beach and then rest, and drank lemonade. After the horses rest, we went into the ocean with me on it...wow..what a birthday morning experience. I have never been in the ocean on a horse, which the water came about midway to my thigh. A must do excursion.

I love horseback riding but had never taken a horse into the ocean, so this was a must-do. One really cool thing about Hooves is that the horses are all rescued from racetracks, which I thought was great. They are trained very well, so all experience levels are welcomed they know how to match you with a good horse. We rode through the plantation and learned a lot about Jamaica's history. When we got to the beach, we had a brief break for some homemade limeade and shared some Jamaican food anything beyond the small sample is an additional cost, so make sure to bring extra money if that's something you will want! The highlight was definitely taking the horses into the ocean although germaphobes beware, they do go to the bathroom while you are in the water! I love being able to go a bit faster on the horse, so running through the ocean was right up my alley. Definitely an amazing experience! They also have a photographer on site. She was incredibly kind and the only reasonable photographer I've ever met on a vacation. We purchased a package where we received three pictures for 10. To me, it was worth it because it's very difficult to get a good selfie of yourself on a horse! The one thing I would change was the wait time to go back - I understand we needed to give the horses a break but we seemed to stand around on the beach for quite a long time before we headed back to the ranch. A big shoutout to the guide who rode in the back with us - his name was something like Nick but he also went by CJ - crazy Jamaican! He filled us in on fun Jamaican facts and even took some additional photos for us on my phone.

My daughter and I had a brilliant time. We had horses, April and Monday, and our guide was CJ Crazy Jamaican. The ride in the sea was exhilarating! I was pleased to find out that the operator uses rescued race horses. We would definitely do this again.

The tour was well worth the fee. This whole experience exceeded our expectations. The pick up was right on time and the bus was clean and well airconditioned. The preparation for the ride was efficient and the horses were calm and well managed. But the ride itself was great. A brief trail ride to the beech and a longer than expected ride in the ocean was great. The horses were deep enough to be nearly swimming and water to our chests. Well done heritage. A great couple of hours.

This trip was so much fun. There is a short ride from the coral to the ocean, then you get off the horse for a bit where you can do a little shopping. They had a small snack and water for everyone and you could purchase beer and soda. Then you get back on the horses and ride out into the ocean. We were deep enough that the water came up to above my knees on the horse. Then we ran the horse back and forth a few times. The horses were practically swimming, and tired pretty easy, so you could only run them that hard for a little bit. You will get wet on this ride, so dress accordingly. They did have someone there taking pictures for purchase. After we left the ocean, we got off the horses again to let them rest a bit, then after about 20 - 30 minutes, we took a little bit longer ride down the beach, back to the coral. Along the way, the guide pointed out ruins for the early England settlers. All in all, this was a very fun trip that I would definitely do again.

Most amazing experience EVER! We had the beach to ourselevs, was able to purchase some drinks and hang out for however long we wanted to on the beach. The horse running through the water was the best part, although a little scary, it was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting.

It was fun yes. What I expected? No. Was not the trails I pictured. Ride was basically a wide circle on flat land with a ride in the ocean between. At the ocean ride there were shacks set up selling stuff like everywhere else, tho we felt pressured or guilted to buy.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. I was slightly nervous beforehand but I needn't have been as the horses are very gentle and the guides very vigilant and reassuring. We were picked up from our villa in Ocho Rios on time, in a lovely air conditioned coach, and when there were given a thorough safety briefing before being led through the forest to the beach. We were a group of just 6. At the beach there were refreshments and a souvenir stall, where the prices were much better than in town. The staff on the beach were lovely and were happy to take photos of us with our cameras. We then got changed and rode through the waves on the horses, which was a fantastic experience. Again I was nervous, but my guide took the reins for me and I rode just behind him. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip or Viator itself, which was very efficient and good value.

The tour guides were very pleasant and helpful. The ride in the sea was very exciting. They did not explain much about the plantation estate as expected, but as I said overall well worth it. The guy who picked us up from the port was very pleasant and informed us of local area and Ocho Rios, after he took us back to town, but he would have taken us on a trip - I assume for a fee.

This is something you don't get to do everyday in the USA, i got to ride a horse in the sea. The guide was conversational and funny. The horse was easy to work with. Security was present. It takes place on an old sugar cane plantation with is nothing exciting. They take you down to the sea (half way point in the ride). There will be a vendor there that you can buy some water and cakes from (nothing special) You then ride int he sea, get wet and then ride back to the plantation, that is it, end of ride. It was fun to do but nothing i would travel all the way to Jamaica to do. I think the whole island is overrated.

This time we brought our son and soon to be daughter-in-law along as they were to be married a few days later. Donny sang Jamaican honeymoon songs to them just as he had to us five years earlier. He was very knowledgable about the plantation we rode on, it's history and the many different trees and plants growing on the land. We had a great time. Riding through the ocean and feeling the horses swim under us was such a thrill. This is the best horseback ride ever. The Viator price is very good too.

Overall, we had good experience. Everyone was very friendly and worked hard to accommodate our needs/preferences. I honestly didn't feel it wasn't worth the price though. The best part of the experience was the ride through the water, which lasted about about 10-15 min. We had very light refreshments and could hardly hear what the guides were saying.
