Hop aboard your City Sightseeing open-air bus from any of the 20 routed stops that are conveniently situated around the city. Take a seat inside or on the open-air top deck, then sit back and relax as you ride through Oxford, home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
With your 24- or 48-hour ticket, choose to stay on the bus for the entire loop, or hop on and off at any of the stops to explore the city’s sights. See the Itinerary for a list of stops. As you travel, plug into the informative audio commentary and admire the timeworn, honey-colored buildings.
Perhaps hop off at the New Road stop to visit Oxford Castle. Learn how the medieval Norman castle was mostly destroyed during the English Civil War, with the remaining buildings then being transformed in to a prison.
After, maybe stop at Christ Church College, one of the largest colleges in the University of Oxford. Admire its grand façade then, if it’s open to the public at your time of visiting, head inside to discover its fascinating history. Learn about the many distinguished people who have studied here — including Albert Einstein and Lewis Carroll — and see the Great Hall, which has been featured in several of the Harry Potter movies.
Next, perhaps visit Sheldonian Theatre, which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in the 17th century. This historical venue serves as the university’s official ceremonial hall, but it is open to the public when not in use. Choose to visit independently or join in with a guided tour, then head inside to explore the main theater. Gaze up at the majestic ceiling that was painted during the reign of King Charles II. Then, explore the attic before taking in 360-degree panoramic views of Oxford from the Cupola.
The full loop lasts around one hour, and buses arrive at each stop every 15, 20 or 30 minutes, depending on the season.
Well worth it, good value for the money the ticket will last all day, you can travel around oxford get off have a beer or two and hop back on and carry on with the tour.

I didn't have a car there and it helped to get a feel for the city. The only hitch was getting to the blue bus. It was hard to figure out where to get it. That bus was a little disappointing because it didn't have as many historic places and information.

Oxford is not an easy city for driving around, so we found it helpful to just park at the Park and Ride (Redbridge) outside of town and take the bus into Oxford. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the limited hours. We were rushed for time for fear of missing the last bus to the car park.

Like most of the HOHO tour, the one i joined in Oxford was great in generally .The only thing was i had to short the time to explore more on Oxford especially the university. i boarded the bus at 11.10a.m and had to rush to take the train at 3pm back to London.

Arrived at Stop 8 at 3:30 pm and no bus arrived after waiting for 20-30 minutes. Walked the short distance to Stop 9 and waited until 4:45pm no bus arrived. My wife and I had to walk to Oxford train station to take train back to London. Only good thing about the experience was the map you provided us. I used it to find shortest distance to the train station.

Great day out , saw all of the city , did a whole round trip , then went round again getting off when we saw something we liked , then back on again to another stop , we did this all day , great way of seeing a city well worth the money only had to wait 5 or 10 minutes for next bus great service

It was good although many of the jacks for the headphones didn't work so I had to change seats multiple times while the bus was moving, with my 5 year old, to find seats that allowed two people to listen at once.

We have been on several of these city tours in cities across the world and this one is by far the best. There are 2 colours of bus, try to catch the green one, it will have a live guide rather than the recorded commentary which is on the red bus. (this is also very good)

This is a great way to see the city although the bus doesn't stop at all stops unless requested, unlike in other cities like Dublin, where the commentary is live, not recorded, and the driver alerts passengers to what to see at each stop.

The bus service was fine...once I was allowed to use it. The first bus driver I encountered told me I had to go to the train station where the office was and see if they would honor my papers. The second driver I encountered was clearly reluctant to accept the documents. I will thank him for finally allowing me onto the bus. Viator needs to train all the drivers regarding internet purchases and the documents generated by such sales.

This hop on hop off tour was not as enjoyable as the others we did in London, Stratford, etc. We found it very difficult to understand the guide on board, and the road works in Oxford made it difficult to get around. It was quicker to get off and walk.
