Wave Rock, York, Wildflowers and Aboriginal Cultural Tour from Perth

Perth, Australia

Journey through the Western Australian wheat belt region to Wave Rock, one of Australia's most incredible natural monuments. Visit the historic township of York and view other significant historical and geological attractions of the area.

After being picked up in Perth, head east to the historic town of York, the first founded township in the Avon valley. Here you'll have time
to enjoy some morning tea (own expense).

Before arriving in Hyden, visit the dog cemetery, this cemetery is a tribute to the Australian working sheep dogs. Once in Hyden visit the Hippo's Yawn, these are unusual rock formations which resembles a hippo yawning. Stop at the Wildflower shop and enjoy an Aussie Country-Style lunch.

After lunch, See the spectacle of Wave Rock and the ancient Gnamma Holes. Whilst here, you can either visit a wildlife park or view the unique Antique Lace Collection.

Leaving Wave Rock, visit the humps and Mulka's Cave. Mulka’s Cave is a large granite boulder with a hollowed out shape. The boulder is part of The Humps an impressive dome of Late Precambrian granite situated 15 km north of Wave Rock.

On the return to Perth, your tour will take a different route and stop at the quaint country town of Babakin for afternoon tea (own expense).
During wildflower season (September-November) enjoy stops to get out and view the wildflowers. Western Australian wildflowers are renowned as being one of the most spectacular wildflower displays in the world. You tour will arrive back into Perth at approximately 8:30pm

This was an amazing day the journey took us through a number of differing areas all of which were very different and interesting. Our driver was very knowledgeable. The Aboriginal Cave we visited and the information about it was fascinating.

Hmmm. Let’s start with the positives. The guide was very knowledgeable. Wave rock was amazing and well worth a visit. Everything else was just filling time on a long journey. The lunch was probably the worst thing I have eaten in Australia. The coach’s air con failed, and afternoon tea didn’t happen

A long day, but expected on this type of tour. A couple of stops along the way to break up the journey. Some interesting places visited and cool to see the Wave Rock formation from both below and above. Our driver was Mark and he was very friendly and had lots of knowledge about the area. Would recommend.

This tour is a worthwhile trip despite the long travel. It is operated by ADAMS pinnacle tour with a very good guide Mark who explain in detail the geology, the history and culture of the region.

Worth a trip. The Wave Rock is amazing and the visit to the nearby Aboriginal cave was also interesting. It is a long day with much driviving. I would choose this trip over the Pinnacles if I had to choose one.

Wave Rock Cafe's better improve their catering. Some insipid chicken pieces in overly sweet red sauce and shredded cabbage makes a lousy lunch. The Wave Rock was a great sight.

This was an interesting day, but with a LOT of time in the coach. Our driver, Grant, provided interesting commentary as we drove through the wheatbelt. York was a nice tea stop. The dog cemetery was short and sweet. Lunch, Wave Rock and Hippo's Yawn are within a few km of each other. The only way to do the lace museum or wildlife park is at own expense during lunch stop. Mulka's cave is only a short drive from 3 stops in Hyden. Then a long drive back with a quick dinner stop in Brookton. The hotel pick up is convenient, but adds a half hour to the day. We clocked over 13 hours, and would have been longer if the wildflowers had cooperated. Ideal for those seeking a non-active day.

Elaine was our driver and guide and she was very good - told us interesting facts about the various towns and attractions. The weather had been wet so the wildflowers weren't as prolific as they might have been but we still saw quite a variety along the road from the bus and when we stopped at Wave Rock and Hippos Yawn. It is a long day and we travelled over 700 kms but we saw a lot of the WA countryside.

Lovely tour despite not best weather conditions and hence colours. Expect huge amounts of tourists at location , but you can spot lovely areas for good pictures , explore location.Wildflowers were not on in Feb/March -should be around Sept the case as I learned. Sure pretty long ride but you have sufficient time to explore area and overgrowded Wave Rock area.

It is a long journey to and fro but the end of the day you got to watch the amazing rock formation and took some pictures of it. If you like to get a better view of Hyden town, you should go on top of the rock formation. We stop a few other places such as the Hyppo Rock and Mulka's Cave.

We only had 40 hours in Perth and we are glad we spent our time on this tour. There were enough stops to break up the long journey and we were delighted to have a friendly and informative driver also. Dog cemetery and CWA afternoon tea aren't always included but we did sneak them into our tour which was a really special treat.

The Wave Rock is a must see but the hours we spent on the bus was way too long and we only had a very limited time in Wave Rock itself. We spent 20 of our time on the actual sightseeing and 80 on the bus. We had a few short stopovers which I feel was too rush. Perhaps, we can eliminate the stopovers since time was not sufficient particularly the cake tasting...I would rather have more time in the actual attractions. Having said that, we had a pleasant experience overall.

Great tour company, pointless tour. I could not say better things about this company- Adams Tours. They provided timely pickup and well-maintained buses although the wifi did not work and a competent driver/guide but nothing could salvage this long uneventful tour. I think it took about 4 hours to get to wave rock we left at 8am and including a few short stops did not get to our first site Hippo's Yawn until 1pm. There was very little in between Perth and Wave Rock except a dog cemetery. Then we saw Hippo's Yawn, had lunch, went to Mulka's Cave and Wave Rock all in about 2 1/2 hours. We were back on the road toward Perth by 3:30pm and arrived back in Perth at 8:30 or so. So, more than 8 hours in a bus for 2 hours of sightseeing. Not worth it! _br/_ Additionally lunch was underwhelming- we had salad tomatoes and iceberg lettuce, plain white rice, and chicken. The lace museum and wildlife park are boring. The wildlife park contained very few animals and the ones that were there looked very poorly maintained. Wave rock is cool but it is certainly not impressive enough to spend this much money and this much time in the vehicle. Mulka's cave is also nice but you stop there for about 10 minutes. There is not much to the aboriginal part of the tour the reason why I chose this one just Mulka's cave. Also, no wildflowers this time of year. I would book another tour with the company but cannot recommend the tour at all. _br/_ PS- the flies were TERRIBLE!! Someone should have warned us to bring some kind of repellent or insect netting!

Was happy with the tour overall, but was very disappointed with the picnic lunch. For the price we pay a little more effort into the food side of things would have been good.

Wildflowers mainly in a shed of a business that marketed them, otherwise good trips with sufficient stops to break up the distances involved.

Diver and guide is the same person, not providing sufficient information regarding the place. We didn't go to see the wildflowers. When we stopped at the restaurant, we were not told that there is a vintage dress museum inside the restaurant and is part of the tour, so we miss it.

Ok trip very long day with more time spent on bus then viewing sights . Would have preferred to see wave rock first not last . The prices vary I paid 216 but some people only paid 160 . Wasn't anything special .

The photos speak for themselves. The waverock is magnificent as is the view on top of the rock! A must go! Thanks to the commentary of our friendly tour guide along the journey, the few hours long drive was less monotonic and added much meaning to the farms, forests, construction etc zooming past our windows. and... THERES WIFI AND USB power on board the coach!!!_br/_ No hassle pick up and drop off at the hotel. Lunch could be better for the asian palate though.. but definitely a recommended trip!

First we truly appreciate Viator on their efficiency and quick response. My husband took ill and could not travel. Viator is giving full refund. _br/_ The trip though it was long was very pleasant with good commentary and sufficient time to sight see._br/_ My son visited when he was 2 years old. Now at 17 he was very pleased to climb the wave rock!

I love the fact that although it was along day, it was also very eventful. The guide let us stop at a few spots just to capture sunsets and rainbows. Very informative too. My kids learnt a lot.

A fantastic trip but be ready to spend the entire day on the bus! Our driver - Brian was great and we felt entertained throughout! Wave Rock is a must see and the view from the top was breath-taking! You will also get to see other rock formations in the area and the visit to one of the local villages was a treat!_br/_ I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Wave Rock was very good, but the tour very basic and extremely expensive for that! If you have a car, or a drive licence, rent a car and don't waste your money on this tour.

Wave rock is amazing. But we were very disappointed with the tour. It has stated that we will go wildlife park or antique lace collection, this is one of the reason why we join this tour, but finally we spent whole day from 7am to 9pm but we had only stayed in wave rock for 20mins n no wildlife park.

Although this is a long day, the tour is really good. The commentary by our guide is informative and not overbearing and the hours of bus travel are nicely broken up over several interesting stops. York is interesting as is the Dog Cemetery at Corrigan. It's really great to reach Hyden and finally see Wave Rock, well worth the hours of travel. Lunch at Hyden is provided by the Wildflower Café and while you're there its worthwhile to drop into the Lace Museum, which is fascinating. Wave Rock itself is stunning. You could spend a lot of time there - but be aware that there's no shade, to take a sun hat, sun screen and a bottle of water. The journey back to Perth has stops at Mulka's Cave which is interesting and also Babbakin for refreshments. It's a long day - but worthwhile.

A very long drive through not so interesting scenery with not many stops. Nothing was wrong with the tour, the driver or the bus, just that it was a very long way to see a rock. It was an interesting rock, and if you don't mind sitting on a bus for 10 hours then this will be okay.

A long say but coach veg comfortable. Driver gave extremely informative commentary. Wave rock exceeded expectations. The afternoon tea in Babikin was great value at 10 for as much as you could eat and a drink. The only disappointing part of the day was the lunch at Wave Rock. The food was tasty and plenty but the attitude of the lady serving it was rather unwelcoming. Overall a great day out and good value.
