Phillip Island 3 Park Pass: Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre and Churchill Island Heritage

Phillip Island, Australia

Make the most out of your visit to Phillip Island with this 3-park pass, the best value for checking out three of the island’s top attractions: the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre and Churchill Island Heritage Farm. Visit each site at your own pace and in whatever order you wish; your pass is valid for six months. Go face to face with koalas in their natural environment; see farming activities like sheep shearing at a historical homestead; and watch fairy penguins (aka little penguins, the world’s smallest) parade out of the sea and across the beach at sunset.

Your Phillip Island 3-park pass gives you access to the island’s top three wildlife and historical attractions — the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre and Churchill Island Heritage Farm — which are all part of Phillip Island Nature Park. You can visit all three in one day or spread it out over several days — your pass is valid for six months.

If you choose to do it all in one day, it is recommended that you consider this sample itinerary, which allows you to end your day with the Penguin Parade at sunset.

Morning at the Koala Conservation Centre: See koalas up close from treetop boardwalks, and join a ranger-led eco-explorer tour to learn more about these beloved Australian animals.

Lunch at Churchill Island Heritage Farm: Purchase lunch at the cafe, and then explore the homestead and working farm to watch daily farming activities like milking cows and shearing sheep. Learn about the farm’s history, and admire the local birdlife.

Afternoon at the Nobbies: See Australia’s largest colony of fur seals and enjoy views of Seal Rocks from the chain of boardwalks.

Sunset at the Penguin Parade: Watch the world's smallest penguins waddle out of the sea and parade across Summerland Beach to their sand burrows. Tiered viewing stands allow everyone to see the action.

In addition to these attractions, you can explore Phillip Island Nature Park’s tranquil wetlands and rugged coastlines. Check out the interactive interpretative displays, walking tracks and elevated boardwalks that allow for sweeping photo ops. The park is also home to cycling paths, beaches, inlets and bays that you can discover at your own pace and in your own way — perhaps go snorkeling, surfing, diving or biking. (Any equipment rental, island transportation, food, drinks and other activities are at your own expense.)

Please note: The 3-park does not include transportation or transfers. You must make your own way to Phillip Island and between the attractions.

This tour is hyped in all the travel literature. We found it highly overrated. The farm tour was the high to us, but you can see a working farm almost anywhere. The KoLa observatory was rather sad in the stE of the entrance. Even realizing that this is a sanctuary didnt account for the lack of information signage and no guides or audio. The koalas were pretty much invisible as it was daytime. I would rather have used my money for a donation, than bother with the long trip out there._br/_ The Penguin Parade was a disaster because of the buslloads of foreign travelers that refused to listen to the Rangers regarding no photography and to stay seated so that all visitors could watch the parade. The penguins were charming but the crowd was obnoxious.

It is amazing especially the penguin parade where you can see a lot of them washing up the beach by the waves.

Finally got to milk a cow at Heritage Farm--it's been on my bucket list for 60 years. The penguins were amazing--dress warmly though.

We felt the 3 Park Pass was good value for money. The Penguin Parade was cute, but your level of enjoyment will depend on just how cute you find little penguins. Like everything else that gets a massive build up, it's hard to match the level of expectation. Do be prepared for a long wait before they appear, and do come prepared for really cold weather once night falls - we were lucky, it was quite a warm evening, but even so . . ._br/_ We give top, marks to the Koala Centre, that was fascinating and a rare opportunity to get close to these increasingly rare animals in their natural habitat. Unfortunately we did not have time for the Farm, but would assume this would be quite interesting too. Certainly the 3 Park Pass is good value and worth getting if you are visiting Phillip Island.

Started w the heritage farm, fiollowed by the cuddly koala and ended w the penguin parade!_br/_ Should get accommodation on the island cos it could be pretty late when the penguin parade ends

Churchill Island was the highlight for me. Very interesting place. The Koala sanctuary was well set up with nice boardwalks, but you wont get much action from the Koalas who appear bored._br/_ The penguins were worth visiting, but there is quite a lot of waiting and if breezy the temperature drops so wrap up. They are very sweet when they emerge._br/_ You are not permitted to take photos at penguin parade as it might spook the penguins.

The Koala Conservation was great, was amazing to see all the facts and saw 3-4 koalas within meters of me that was surreal. Then we went to Churchill Island which was the best of the three trips as there was so much there, whip cracking I got a twig whipped from my mouth and also cracked a whip A sheep getting sheared, working dogs, interesting birds just walking around the place and many other attractions.

The Koala Conservation Centre and the Penguin Parade were great. The Churchill Island Heritage Farm did not wow us but maybe we are quite used to farms so we did not see anything unusual. All staff were fantastic and it was very easy with the e-voucher.

The penguins were gorgeous and the Centre and staff were good. Negative was the bus loads of international tourists who ignored staff instructions to remain seated and not to take photos and pushed and shoved my 5 yo and 21 month old. Didn and #39;t get to other 2 but staff said had 6 months to visir.

Brilliant price for the three park pass you get to see koalas in the trees and the penguins are so cute. Wrap up warm for the penguin parade have to sit around for a while gets quite chilly but well worth it. Found the farm a little boring but the rest was brilliant.

We had a great experience at all three places. It was great to see the work being done in the name of conservation at the Koala Conservation Centre and the work done by the volunteers at the Churchill Island Herutage Park. The Penguin Parade was also very enjoyable even though the evening was quite wet.

Review by:   Carmencita S,    February 2015 Review: 1 star rating: I do not recommend this
This was one of the most appalling things I've ever been roped into. I can't believe how this natural wildlife phenomenon has been commercialized and exploited to this extent. I found the whole thing simply atrocious. It was overblown, overpriced and sickening.

Penguin parade was amazing, although lots of people there were plenty of penguins to see. The Koala sancturary provided lots of opportunities to see koalas up close.

Better information is needed before people book this trip. The opening and closing times need to be made clearer. We travelled a long way to try and enjoy all three parks, however, when we arrived at the farm they were just closing at 4.30 pm. We then rushed to the Koala Sanctuary only once again to be told they are only open for a further 30 minutes. Finally, we went to the main attraction we were very excited to have the option to enjoy this, however, as the penguins only start their parade late and therefore finish late, it is then a long car journey back to Melbourne. The main point being what do you do between 5.30 pm and 9 pm when the penguins appear. We were in a hire car and could not stay for the penguins as the area is dark and not well sign posted for the long journey back to the city.

A very enjoyable trip to Philip island as well as Churchill island. Recommended for those like me who has previously been to Melbourne and is familiar with the way to the islands. Naturally, this tour will require for you to have your own self-drived car! It is economical than paying for a wholeday guided tour which will cost at least 4x as much! This pass enables you to have free access to all the important sights and admission to the amazing penguin parade which is the highlight of this trip is included too!
