Silk Island Half-Day Lunch Cruise and Tour from Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

On this half-day Silk Island Lunch Cruise and Tour, enjoy an all-you-can-eat lunch prepared on board, just for you. Visit Silk Farms to see silk production from larvae to finished products, a modern temple (pagoda) that is a working monastery, and stroll by plantations. Tour guides will be provided on the island. Full bar, cocktails, coffee available for purchase on board.

Journey begins with free pickup inside Phnom Penh. Upon boarding you will receive a free Sunset Cocktail, a Cambo Cruise original.

After departure, at approximately 12:00pm, a lunch is made from fresh, local, organic food is served that is prepped and cooked just for you on our boat in our stainless steel kitchens; never on land hours before, and definitely not on a rusty charcoal grill. No food is frozen or foreign. No fish from the river is served, ever. Salad, spring rolls, organic brown rice, curry, fruit, fresh bread, sandwiches, and a variety BBQ with Texas style BBQ and Asian teriyaki sauce is available. There are low-carb, vegetarian, vegan, and halal options available.

At the bar, most any cocktails can be made, but be sure and try an original signature cocktail. Local and imported beers, as well as wines by the glass or carafe. Fresh, locally grown coffee beans are ground just before brewing to ensure fantastic espresso, and coffee.

Cruising along the Phnom Penh riverfront enjoy the view from the upper deck or down on the main deck for a more cozy experience near the bar. Passing the Royal Palace, see the junction of the Tonle Sap, Mekong, and Bassac rivers. Up the Mekong River you will see floating villages and fishing families living on their boats. The trip to Silk Island takes about 1 hour.

Docking at Silk Island you are a short ride steps away from the silk farms. Along the way you can view plantations and see village life. A modern pagoda nearby is also an active monastery. This is not a tourist attraction, be respectful. At the silk farms you can watch the intricate process of silk being made from larvae to finished goods. Tour guides will be provided.

The boat will be open for food, drinks, relaxing or for using the facilities while in port.

On the 1 hour ride back to Phnom Penh cool off with a cocktail. Snacks will be provided.

The Cambo Cruise boat has 75 seats with a wooden Traditional Cambodian design with modern touches. With two commercial quality kitchens, men’s and women's toilets, running water from fresh water tanks, and a water filtration system for clean, purified drinking water. Hygiene, safety, and guest satisfaction are our priorities. Feel safe knowing that the boat is licensed, inspected, and has staff that are well trained in safety and first-aid procedures, with flotation devices, safety equipment, and fire extinguishers onboard. We are confident that no other boat in Phnom Penh can offer you all of these things.

The cruise boat was just okay. The food was okay, but we were rushed to finish lunch before departing for our Silk Island adventure. The presentation at the silk farm itself was fascinating. I was picked up at my hotel, but there was no return transportation. I hadn't realized that I was on my own once we got back to our starting point. Tuk Tuk transport was very available at the riverfront. I had better guides with other tours/activities. Giving it a four star rating because of the silk farm experience.

There were only 3 of us on the cruise on that trip which allowed us to have the whole boat to ourselves . I had the impression that we would be served seafood but what came was BBQ chicken and pork. Nevertheless, food tasted good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This 3.5 hour trip was a good duration, not too long on the whole. I would bring my young kids next time and they'd be thrilled to see Mekong River with calves bathing along the river and also live silkworms. The guide at the Silk Village was very informative too. Thank you Cambodian Cruise.

The lunch was fantastic and the guide was very nice and she made it a point to explain properly to us even though her language is limited. The silk Island was a good place to learn how traditional silk items are handmade and the villagers are very nice people. An enjoyable educational tour.

We had a super time - it was our first full day in Phnom Penh and we wanted an excursion but nothing too strenuous as we settled into the new time zone, etc. The hotel pickup was on time in a tuk-tuk! and the boat was clean spacious with a great upper deck. Not too crowded, great crew who were very attentive. The trip was about an hour long to Silk Island, where we disembarked onto more tuk-tuks, which we rode to the entrance of the Silk Island property. Learning about how silk is made was really interesting - so much work goes into creating the beautiful cloth they weave on the property! Of course you have a chance to buy some of their work which makes a nice story to go along with the souvenir. Tuk-tuks back to the boat, where we were served a very delicious buffet lunch on our return cruise. I thought this was a great value and a great way to see a part of Cambodia that was out of the city. Not to mention that a cruise on the river was a nice breezy way to enjoy a very hot day.

A pleasant boat ride on the Mekong, friendly staff onboard and nice weather. Once on the island the guides took us to the Silk Farm. Interesting to see the work that lays behind it all and in all a nice little tour. Was however not too impressed with the caged animals that were kept there. Small, dirty cages with no stimulation. Not my favourite sight.

A fantastic tour._br/_ After a slight mix up with departure times this was easily rectified and we were collected from our hotel on time. The staff were very attentive and nothing too much trouble. The food was exceptional on board. Tour guide very knowledgeable. _br/_ All in all a top class tour. Thank you

This was a well organized trip and the staff were all very accommodating . Our server, Pin, spoke English quite well and answered all our questions. The island guide was very thorough with his history and knowledge of silk cloth. His presentation was a little lengthy for me due to standing so long in the humid heat. Overall, I do recommend the cruise.

Another amazing tour! The food was incredible, the staff very nice and the silk island a great experience. Going through the village was great! It has enough variety for the kids. Everyone enjoyed it!

I had an absolutely LOVELY time with this tour! From the moment I arrived on the boat, I was greeted with lovely and friendly smiles from the young ladies, Pin and Lin. It was only myself and one other passenger for the entire trip, however, Pin, and Lin were wonderful with making sure that we were taken care of and enjoying ourselves with a nice refreshing welcome drink. Very gracious and super sweet hosts!

The ride to Silk Island is a great way to view the development of Phnom Penh. We were the only group aboard the ship, and the crew was friendly and attentive. The boat was really spacious and clean. The quick tuk-tuk ride to the silk farm was a fun way to see the island's farms. Our tour guide at the silk farm was extremely knowledgeable and funny! He really made the tour worthwhile. There is a store at the end of the tour offering silk scarves made one the island. They are reasonable in price, starting at 10. Silk Island is a great way to see a piece of Cambodian culture being protected and revived.

I enjoyed the free flow lunch on board the cruise. As i went during the low season, i have the whole cruise to myself. Amazing river scenery and helpful staff to explain the way of life along the Mekong river. I also enjoyed the short stay at Silk Island, learning the origin of the village, way of life, silk production and amazing silk products being offered at the local shop.

Absolutely loved this trip. The boat is new and comfortable. We sat upstairs at large comfortable tables and the whole boat is undercover. The cocktails were great and the food was fantastic. We really enjoyed the view on the boat trip too. On arrival at Silk Island we took a tuk tuk ride through a small town. It was great to see the little community and all the local kids smiling and waving. The tour of the silk farm was very informative, with lots to see and touch. It was great to see the whole live span of the silk worm/moth and how the cocoon is made into silk. The ladies weaving are amazing and the work they do is beautiful. It was nice to also come away with a few silk scarves to remember our trip. I would highly recommend this trip. It was interesting, fun and the staff are friendly and professional.

Initially, I missed the tour as it departed five minutes before the due time, and I was cutting it fine... However, they happily transferred my ticket to the following day. The boat trip out was very enjoyable and relaxing, with great views of Phnom Penh from the river. Lunch was very good and our host charming and attentive. Once on Silk Island, we were handed over to a local guide and toured the facility. It was interesting and informative, though the guide's English was a little rough.... he was passionate about Cambodia's history however, even if his perspective was a little personal! Beautiful silk scarves etc for sale, all made on the island.

Good tour and well priced. It's rainy season, we got lucky and there were a few light showers only. The staff were very accomodating and spoke good English. Unfortunately, we did not get a buffet lunch as there were only 5 people booked that day. The lunch serviced was simple and tasty.

This might be bias review as I was the only person on the tour and they did any and everything possible to make my tour a 5 star . The guides were very knowlegable and the food was delicious. I loved seeing another side of Cambodia with the boat people and the island was so peaceful... The silk farm was very informative and I took tons of video. I am very happy that I took this tour.

I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if I could. It was a good half-day option in you are looking for something to do in Phnom Penh. The staff are very friendly and the lunch was great, but it got very hot on the boat. There are no fans on the bottom and the boat doesn't go fast enough to generate a breeze on the top deck. Seeing the silk production community was great and very informative, but I wish we could have also stopped at the pagoda and other farms on the island for some pictures rather than just driving by them on a tuk-tuk.

If it had just been the cruise, it would have been 5 stars ... From the pick up to the cruise itself with staff that were attentive always there to get you a drink or provide you with some local information without being invasive, to the lunchtime buffet - and their readiness to cook me an omelette as I don't eat meat there were plenty of veggie options anyway, to the staff's efficiency of presenting the correct drinks tab to the right passengers without prompting as we disembarked at the end, it was faultless. The slight disappointment was the Silk Island itself. We were collected from the water's edge and taken by tuk tuk where our very amiable and informative guide took us through the silk production process and a walk round the farm/facilities. Unfortunately, they seem to have turned the farm into a mini theme park with life size model animals throughout, a mini zoo and western music booming. We were also just sitting around waiting for our tuk tuks to turn up at the end which was a bit of a shame. The silk goods produced - or available to purchase not necessarily made at this farm - are of a very good quality and start from 10.

excellant, the staff were friendly and it was a pleasant experience. The only issue was that four of the people took off away from the group and the boat had to turn back after about 30 minutes to pick them up. I think people should be told that they should stick with the tour not to inconvenience others.
