2-Day Grand Canyon Tour from Phoenix

Phoenix, United States of America

The Grand Canyon has so many sights and colors, and this two day trip gives you time to see them all. From the brilliant red sandstone country of Sedona, to a visit to the Painted Desert and an authentic Navajo Reservation, you'll love every minute.

Explore the Grand Canyon on this overnight tour which includes Sedona, the Painted desert and a visit to an authentic trading post on the Navajo Reservation for shopping.

After arriving at the Grand Canyon, tour the East Rim drive for stops at dramatic viewpoints. Then enjoy time in the Grand Canyon Village area for views or a nature walk before checking into your local accommodations.

Day Two:
Your morning is free to take an optional helicopter tour or see the Imax Theatre presentation. Enjoy a walk along the rim or take the West Rim tram (seasonal) to other scenic viewpoints. You will return to Phoenix in the evening.

We would have liked a little more time in Sedona. We had about 40 minutes to walk around, which included a rest room break. And we arrived and left early in the morning, before the shops were open not that we would have had time to shop. We realize the main point of the trip was the Grand Canyon, and that was great, which is why we rated it highly. However, since there is a stop in Sedona, it would have been nice to actually feel we had seen a bit of Sedona. There is a great variation in the tour guides, and it is the luck of the draw. The driver/guide we had from Phoenix to Sedona was great--lots of info, very personable. The driver/guide we had to the Canyon was a bit of a character, who told us lots of stories about himself and his life, name-dropping lots of people, but not quite giving us the info we were expecting to get about the area. The driver we had all the way back gave too much info, identifying every restaurant as we passed it on the road! The accommodations at the Grand Canyon were comfortable Maswik Lodge. We were lucky to have great, clear weather. They picked us up for the trip back earlier than we were originally told. So you may have slightly less time on that second day than you had planned.

The small mini van was old and very uncomfortable for the trip from Phoenix to Sedona where a newer van was used to the Grand Canyon. The driver/guide was informed and interesting. Upon arrival my friends were informed to their embarrassment, that their generous tip was not sufficient! I was shocked, it bothered me the rest of the trip. The return trip was late one hour and when we entered the only seats available was the back row and very hard for four people in their mid seventies and eighties! However, the Grand Canyon was spectacular.

This tour was great, we could see a lot and it was well organized. staying over night it is a very good idea, it allows experience canyon on your own, see the sunset, sunrise, take a long walk. The only thing what we were not happy about was the ride back home, the driver was crazy and people got really scared inside the bus.

The overnight tour of the Grand Canyon out of Phoenix was fantastic. Including transportation to the Grand Canyon with a stop in Sedona, one night's lodging at the Maswik Lodge, a tour of awesome views along the canyon rim, and transportation back, it was also a great value. The tour ran smoothly. Our guides, Manny, JR, and Ray, all provided personalized, warm, friendly, and informative guiding. I found them all to be caring and concerned as well as entertaining. Lodging at Maswik was simple but clean and adequate, and the lodge provided a good cafe with many choices, as well as help in setting up other activities. Everything worked together to provide a troublefree and seamless experience, and I felt that I had time to really see and absorb the wondrous Canyon. I'm so glad that I had my first experience of this awesome natural wonder with this tour, run by Ma and Pa Tours. Excellent experience.

Really enjoyed the trip. Stayed in a great hotel in Grand Canyon. Would have liked more time in Sedona and less at the trading outlet. The tour guides were informative and helpful but one guide was way too pushy about tipping. Suggesting the amount per person and putting up a sign. Tips are optional and should be what a person can afford, for some people the cost of the tour is expensive enough. Please combine the tip in the tour price. Would have liked more information and contact from the tour company. We contacted them to confirm pick up but were never given any information regarding where we would be lodging or pick up time.

We would recommend staying over night at the Grand Canyon, this enabled us to view and tour more of the Grand Canyon at our leisure. The accommodations were very nice. Our driver/guide was very nice and informative.

Surpassed our expectations. The drive from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon was wonderful. Great guide. Loved the stop at the Navajo reservation where we stopped to eat the lunch that we bought in a lovely restaurant/bakery in Sedona. Overnight accommodations at the Canyon were terrific. We able to watch elk out the window of our room. Highly recommend this tour.

The trip was fantastic. We got the information we needed on time. I had some questions about accommodation that were responded in a very informative and accurate way. The guides were excellent. The hotel at the Grand Canyon was very good. Everything went well. The only exception was the transportation on the way back to Phoenix. It was a small mini bus the passengers that had booked for the day had taken the best seats. We were uncomfortably seated. This lasted for half of the trip. Fortunately we changed vehicle at midway. Apart from this everything went really well. Thanks.

First, driver going was a bit unprofessional. Did not get a clear vision of the trip. Driver on return trip was fantastic and explained every stop and many sights along the way. Sedona visit was way too short. Too bad a fire prevented us from seeing the RED rocks were blurred. Did not know we'd be stopping at a great ethnic restaurant for lunch. Thought our stop in Sedona was it. We ate on bus and missed out on a great meal. Hotel is not for seniors. We were lucky to be in a room with air, but it was a hike uphill to our building 4 we changed it from 5 as they had nothing closer. Unless you are young and could go to bottom of Canyon, you miss a lot. I would not recommend anyone make this trip unless they can afford the helicopter tour or can get to the bottom of canyon.

Dreadful start redeemed when they changed tour guide and driver. 45 minutes late on collection then drove like the clappers, scaring everyone on board. In Sedona a new driver took over than goodness and he couldn't have been better informed, or more careful. The accommodation at Grand canyon was good and it is an excellent place to stop over with so many free activities to do arranged by the park rangers. Providing this company have addressed the driver issue then I think it is a good tour.

Car picked us up was ragged, and 45 minutes behind the schedule the driver never apologize for it._br/_ I would recommend giving a through thought on why you are choosing this option._br/_ The tour includes transportation and one night stay in Grand canyon. Tour guide did not cover Actual grand canyon, and made me wonder exactly what they do to cost me that much money.

It was a great trip! The guides we had were all fantastic. I don't think the 1-day tour would have given us enough time - the 2-Day tour was barely enough! The accommodation was decent but not fantastic. The one thing that I would suggest is to advise those guest overnighting in the grand canyon about the limited restaurant options and facilitate making a reservation in one of the few that are available. _br/_ Even on the 2-day tour there wasn't enough time in Sedona. Next time I would want to spend more time in both Sedona and the grand canyon but this definately was enough to wet the appetite._br/_ Otherwise it was an awe inspiring trip!

I highly recommend this Tour! I chose this tour because I wanted to see the Sedona Red Rocks, the Navajo Reservation, and the Grand Canyon. I was picked up at my hotel in Phoenix. The morning of, the driver called me on my cell phone to let me that he was on his way and the exact time (down to the minute) that he was going to be at my hotel. I found that to be very helpful and courteous. On the drive through the desert to the Sedona Red Rocks via the scenic route, the tour guide was highly informative and friendly. I learned a lot about both the city of Phoenix and the surrounding desert. We viewed the beautiful Sedona Red Rocks (= mountains that look like red rock formations) from the bus windows. We stopped for 30 minutes at the Sedona Red Rocks "tourist strip", a one block street of touristy shops. (If you want to spend a lot of time in Sedona, this tour is not for you. If I ever go back to Phoenix, I will take an all-day tour of Sedona from the same tour company. Or I will take a shuttle to Sedona and stay at a local hotel with a beautiful view of the Red Rocks. A friend of mine who took the 3-hour Sedona Jeep ride told me it was very hot and bumpy; and not the tour for me. To be truthful, I would rather see them from a tour bus). While at Sedona, a couple on the same tour bus as me took the time to purchase food that they said was just ok. In other words, don’t waste valuable time at Sedona purchasing food!! Our stop at the "Navajo Reservation" was a 30-minute stop at an over-priced store selling native items that is not even owned by a Navajo!! (The store employs many Navajo, so I was happy to purchase items there). We had to take valuable time (out of our 30-minute stop) to order our Take-Out food and wait in line to pick up the food. It’s not native food, so I don’t recommend wasting the time – bring food on this tour if possible. (ie. Buy a sandwich to go at Denny’s. You are allowed to eat food on the bus). Then we drove to the Grand Canyon. We st

Our two day Grand Canyon tour was great. Our first guide Cory was passionate about the area, and obviously loved his job. He made the trip up informative and fun. Really appreciated all the little anecdotes that all the guides shared with us. The accommodations at the canyon were excellent...first class actually. Glad we chose this company. They are totally consumer friendly and experienced. We even had a change in scheduling and that worked out easily. Would use Viator again for sure.

Both tour guides were well versed in the sights we saw, plus history of the region. The slight stop in Sedona was disappointing, because we could not stop on the highway to photograph any of the scenic views. However, the Navaho Indian reservation was a nice stop at their trading post. Once we arrived at the Grand Canyon things slowed down and we were treated to several stops to take photos, prior to making a late lunch stop at Bright Angel restaurant, then on to Masswick Lodge where we spent the night. The next day we enjoyed time to explore on our own, until we were picked up at the Lodge for the return trip back to Scottsdale and our condo.

this will be a 2 time viator tour for me- 1st and last. when i was looking for an o'night grand canyon tour i spoke with my friend in phoenix. but as he's driven himself each time he's gone to canyon he wasn't able to provide the local knowledge i was looking for. so we came across your tours on i/net and proceeded to book. i was immediately suspicious when i was told i would need to book optional helicopter flight direct with the local operator. the advertised Approx. $160 flight had suddenly become $195 (i wouldn't have minded in the slightest if it had been approx. $200 in the first place, but a near 40percent difference seemed totally out of whack) it's not like this was a brochure printed once a year. when i called to pay for the said helicopter fare prior to departure all seemed in order. i continued to receive your '10 days to go; 3 days to go' updates so again was hopeful all would go to plan. so we arrived at appointed hotel just before 6am to find our bus waiting for us. we continued with the hotel pick-ups then proceeded to segona where we had a change of driver. 'stevie b' was informative and accommodating. on route he advised that 'phone reception' could be a bit problematic in the area._br/_ after arrival and the south rim precinct he advised our fellow passengers of there options and when he would return. he then took us to check-in then dropped us off to our room and where to be waiting for our 2.30 pick-up the next day. all good._br/_ the next morning we did the 'sunrise run' and were advised by one of the bus drivers that helicopters usually didn't fly when it was windy. _br/_ as we had no phone service and problems with the hotel 'wi-fi' we were essentially no contactable. so prior to check out i called the local operator office to explain communication difficulties and find out whether helicopters were flying. at that stage we were advised they were. following check-out we went on the bus and saw helicopters flying so assumed our

Well, where do I start, we were picked up promptly by our driver Tom at 6:00am sharp. My first impression was positive, untill you started talking to him, he was rude, to say the least, don't dare ask a question and throw him off track of his well memorized script._br/_ When everyone stopped talking I think he got the message. Then there was his driving! Lets just say we were all white knuckling it all the way to the canyon, my thought was if I wanted to fly to the canyon, I would of took a plane. The whole point of doing this tour was so we could all relax and enjoy the scenery . So not the case! I feel that when Someone is driving with 12 lives in their care, they should take that serious.

Long trip but not enough time spent in Sedona enroute, such a beautiful town, if had known would have stayed 1 night there instead of 1 night at Canyon. Could have caught the same tour the next day, less driving, and then come home late that same day. Canyon was majestic, so beautiful whets your appetite to return .

The trip overall was very good. I lucked out and had great weather up at the Canyon, which allowed for me to experience sunrise and sunset at various locations along the south rim. Having a meal at the El Tovar is a must but is not cheap.

We thoroughly enjoyed the guide who drove us to the Grand Canyon. He was extremely knowledgable and gave us much information regarding the history and geography of the region. He pointed out areas of interest during the entire trip. Our only issue was with the overnight accommodations. Your confirmation indicated that we would be staying at the Grand Hotel or Best Western which, I assume would be in Tusayan. Instead, we spent the night at a cabin at Maswik Lodge. While there are some advantages to staying inside the Canyon, we would have appreciated having a choice. The accommodations were rather primitive no air conditioning and no hot water the following morning. While we very much enjoyed our ride and the Grand Canyon experience, the room left much to be desired since we do enjoy the amenities of air conditioning and hot water! We would really have preferred choosing our room and being given the option of paying extra for an upgrade.

My friend and I enjoyed the chance to leave Phoenix, which was very hot, and travel in an air-conditioned van to the higher altitudes and slightly cooler temperatures. Our driver gave us interesting bits of information on the geology, geography and history of the areas we were travelling through, which made the trip enjoyable. The Grand Canyon was amazing, and we saw some fantastic views while we were travelling in the van and later as we walked along the rim to enjoy a fantastic sunset. We stayed in Grand Canyon National Park overnight and saw the sun rising the next morning. The return trip was not as much fun. First of all, the van was loaded with tired people who had tried to see the Grand Canyon in a one-day trip. Maybe this is doable if you are very young, but I would never recommend it. Our driver was friendly, but we had no commentary on the trip back to Phoenix. It was just 4 hours to be gotten through. I felt this could have been changed if the driver had perhaps asked us to introduce ourselves to the other travellers, or had pointed out some of the things we might have missed on the way up to the canyon. All in all, it was definitely a trip worth taking...and there were a few things could have made it better. We didn't get much information from anybody about what the trip would be like.

I really enjoyed the trip. Staying overnight was definitely worth it; I had a full day to explore the canyon after a good night's sleep. The only problem I had was getting back into the canyon the second morning--the shuttle driver told me he was not supposed to honor the pass I had, and it would've cost $25 to get a "valid" one. Otherwise great trip, got to see and learn a ton! Our guide on the first day was outstanding too.

Both days we had wonderful tour operators. Very knowledgeable, and made the trip there and back to Sedona/Grand Canyon a lot more enjoyable with their jokes and trivia of everywhere we passed through. I'm so glad we took the 2 day trip after reviewing the 1 day trip being too short by everyone. The hotel Grand Hotel was very clean, there's a cheap continental buffet for about $7 per person in the morning for breakfast before heading back out to the Grand Canyon, or you can just go literally a 2 minute walk to plenty of other restaraunts/fast food places. We avoided the helicopter ride due to the additional cost 160.00 per person for the 20-30 minute ride, but the 4 from our 12 team that did go had a good time. _br /_ This tour made the perfect trip for myself and my husband, we had no real interest in hiking or riding the rapids at the Little Colorado river at the bottom of the Canyon, so the 2 days were more than enough time to enjoy ourselves. The second day we had from dawn until 3.15pm to enjoy the sights by ourselves without feeling like we were there too long. I would give 5 stars, but the top rating is 4 stars, so that will have to do! If you're trying to decide between 1 or 2 days, 100% go with the 2, the 1 day simply doesn't have enough legal driving hours to take in everything that you'll want to!

This tour was definitely worth the price. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. I am so glad that I didn't attempt the drive from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon. I would have missed so much of the scenery and history info provided by the driver, not to mention being stressed out by a difficult and long drive. The stop in Sedona was timed just right. I must go back there again for a longer stay. Sedona is just beautiful! The Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Reservation provided great refreshments and the gift shop was wonderful. I purchased most of my gifts there. The staff made you feel very welcome. Even though our tour bus had a flat tire there in the parking lot, our driver still managed to get us up to the canyon in plenty of time. The 2-Day tour was all I had time for on this trip to Arizona and it worked out well for me. But I am definitely going back for a much longer stay at the Grand Canyon. It is just too awesome for words to do it justice!

The guides were great and the van was comfortable. Folks should know, though, that you spend eight hours on the van and about three hours at the Grand Canyon; no more than thirty minutes or so at any one site. Prospective buyers should calculate whether or not it's "worth it" for such a short time at the Canyon. Staying overnight was definitely worth it, otherwise, we'd have been spent the majority of our day in the van.
