Private Bike Tour Through Pisa with Local Guide

Choosing between a morning start time of 10am and an afternoon start time of 2pm, you will meet your local specialized guide at the Piazza Arcivescovado, located just behind the Leaning Tower. Before you jump on your rented bike, you will have just enough time to admire the tower and the three other buildings located in the remarkable Piazza dei Miracoli. Then, with your private guide, you'll head toward the ancient ruins of the Roman Baths and begin an exploration through the heart and soul of Pisa.

You will visit the medieval Church of San Francesco, where, if desired, you can park your bike in the nearby square and visit the interior of the church. This is the first of many beautiful medieval churches with remarkable facades that you will see as you pedal through the town. A short ride will take you to the Arno River, the longest and most important river of Tuscany. This river runs through the town, dividing it into two. As you cycle through the streets that run alongside the Arno, you'll have the change to admire many splendid palazzos. At which point, you will cross the river near Giardino Scotto, a beautiful garden park, and continue along the narrow streets toward the suggestive Church of Santo Sepolcro. This church was constructed in the Middle Ages by the Knights Hospitaller, subsequently known as the Knights of Malta. You will learn the extensive details regarding the glory and legends of this ancient superpower of Pisa! Using the middle bridge, Ponte di Mezzo, you will again cross the Arno and head to an area of Pisa not usually visited by tourists. There, you'll see the old market with fruit and vegetable stands, cafes, and pubs where university students particularly like to eat, drink, and socialize. 

During your tour, you will have the option, upon request, to taste typical local products and Tuscan wines, or stop for the best gelato in town.  As the tour winds down, you will visit Piazza dei Cavalieri, where the most prestigious Italian university, Scuola Normale Superiore, is located. You will then return the bikes to the rental shop and end the tour at the same place you began. This tour is approximately 2 hours, unless you wish to shop the local products or stop for wine tasting (not included in the tour price).
