Private Pittsburgh City Tour

Pittsburgh, United States of America

Begin your private tour with an incline ride to the top of Mt. Washington before passing through the only "front door" to an American City. Downtown Pittsburgh, the North Shore, and Oakland are all included. You will see the sights, learn the history, and share insights delivered in a bright and breezy style. You may even get to see Air Force One if the President of the United States is visiting Pittsburgh.

Your private guide will lay all of Pittsburgh at your feet and take you anywhere you want to go! A typical Itinerary begins with a climb up Mt. Washington on the Duquesne Incline for an unexcelled view of one of the world's most perfect city settings. Next you'll open Pittsburgh's Front Door and stop on the North Shore at the Fred Rogers Statue for a view of the world's second tallest fountain and a drive past the home of the Pirates and the Steelers who made Pittsburgh the "City of Champions". Crossing the Allegheny River you'll enter Pittsburgh's Cultural Disrtrict before stopping at the "Tomb of the Unknown Bowler" at PPG Place. Passing through Downtown Pittsburgh you'll see the sights and hear stories of what was once the world's third richest city. Then it's on to Oakland, Pittsburgh's medical and educational center. In the time remaining you can go to the top of Schenley Park for a different vista or return to your starting point via the Monongahela Valley.

A very nice introduction to Pittsburgh, which was very helpful to us in planning the rest of our stay there. We enjoyed George's enthusiasm, and his obvious love for the city.

George was the man! True passion for Pittsburgh but had the knowledge to go along with it making this a great learning experience about the past and present of Pittsburgh. George accommodated us on short notice on St. Patrick's Day. He was even courteous to this Pats fan. The two hour tour was just right to get an excellent overview of the city. The Duquesne Incline was a great experience and view. Really enjoyed the drive through the Cultural and Strip district pointing out unique history and construction along the way. We wrapped it up with having George drop us off in the Strip District at Gaucho's for an outstanding meal. We got the Asado Platter which had a sampling of wood fired flank, skirt, sirloin, NY strip and Rib Eye. I highly recommend George. A truly great experience. We plan on bringing our daughters back to do it again.

The tour of Pittsburgh with George was fantastic. He loves Pittsburgh and wants to show you the pride he has in his city. We have never been with such an enthusiastic tour guide. We saw all of Pittsburgh and even got to stand where the Immaculate reception happened and eat Pittsburgh Steeler's ice cream at Grandpa Joe's /candy store. The trip to the top of Mount Washington was also spectacular. George did not miss a thing in showing us Pittsburgh. In fact, we went back to the Strip area the next day to eat lunch and spend more time in the shops. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Pittsburgh - even if it is not your first time!

There were eight of us that took the Private Pittsburgh City Tour with George DeBolt last week, and we all agreed it was a wonderful, enlightening, and fun experience. We learned a lot and had a great time, too! He knows a lot about a lot of Things Pittsburgh and crammed in a lot of wonderful sights and enriched his commentary with interesting and often funny and usually relevant asides. Our first stop was Mt. Washington where he dropped us off to take the ride up to the top for the best views of the city and its rivers, then met us up there and gave us a history lesson, pointing out where that history took place. When we come back to Pittsburgh, we intend to ask for him again, and again, and again! You will not be disappointed! He's the best!

This was an amazing tour once we got going. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave much history of the town as well as showing a lot of the area. I could tell he is very proud of Pittsburg and showed the growth and thought that is going in to the renovation and reinvention of the area with the changing economic dynamic. _br/_ Again, Viator did not completely confirm the reservation and thus there was miscommunication at the start.

This tour was amazing!!! I had read the reviews about George beforehand and he lived up to everything people said about him. My son is turning 13 next month and he is a huge Pirates and Steelers fan. He had never been to Pittsburgh. This birthday trip was a dream trip for him. George met us early in the lobby of our hotel. He took us to several places around town. He catered to my son's love of the city and sports. We started at the incline and the views were spectacular. I have been a teacher for 17 years and always like to learn something new. George was constantly teaching us. While at the incline, he showed up pictures and maps and pointed out important parts of the city's skyline. Then he took us around the stadiums and pointed out the history and interesting facts. We stopped at The Immaculate Reception and the old stadium. Then, we saw and learned about the buildings. The glass buildings are stunning! We discussed architecture and history while doing trivia. The boys 10 and almost 13 had so much fun. George also seems to know everyone. They call him by name and greeted him with the same high level of respect George showed to everyone we encountered. He knew where to park, where to go, and what to see. In a couple of hours, we saw more than we could have all day on our own. This tour was well worth the money and I would highly recommend it.

George gave us a wonderful personalized 2 hour tour of Pittsburgh. He was personable, friendly, funny and very knowledgeable. He appears to know everyone in P'burgh! We highly recommend him. One thing, George's car was rather messy, but do not be put off by that - he is worth every penny!!

I took a wonderful tour of Pittsburgh with George. If this man ran for political office, he would surely win. Everyone knew him, greeted him with fondness and he was so very knowledgeable. The rest of my group was not available so I had a private tour. George was a wealth of knowledgeable and quite a historian. Very comfortable with him and many strangers gathered to hear him talking to me. Showed me the biggest Store for Steeler memorabilia I have ever seen, rode the incline complete with pictures and history lesson and visited Grandpa Joes Candy Store. Largest selection of vintage candy that I have ever seen. Fabulous to return to childhood if only for a short time. Thank you to Viator and especially George for showing your love of this city and giving some interesting facts for me to past on. Have already told family and friends in Pittsburgh to go visit George and fall in love with the city all over again!!

George set out on a mission to convince us that Pittsburgh is one of the coolest cities in the country and by the time he finished we were believers! Great tour...we learned soooo much and saw all the major spots as well as a lot of things that we wouldn't have seen on other tours. Thanks for a fantastic two hours!

I very highly recommend this tour. George is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of Pittsburgh. He will show you why Pittsburgh is the coolest city in the world. My family and I really enjoyed the wide variety, from the top of Mt. Washington to a bathroom at Yinzers where the walls are signed by Steeler greats and celebrities. We had a great time and learned a great deal about how Pittsburgh came to be the city it is today. George's tour was definitely a highlight of our trip to Pittsburgh.

This tour was simply fantastic! George shared a ton of interesting information with enthusiasm and a clear love for the city of Pittsburgh. We came away with a great appreciation of Pittsburgh's history, culture and importance to our nation. The stops were wonderful, starting with an absolutely stunning view of the city from Duquesne Heights, after riding the incline. There are also some really interesting old photos there which George showed and explained that should not be missed! If you are a sports fan there's a nice stop at the Immaculate Reception too. The architecture in Pittsburgh has some real hidden gems which George explained as well. Plus, George is a great guy, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very friendly. I really highly recommend this tour, especially if you don'r know much about Pittsburgh. We didn't and we came away pleasantly surprised.

Just wanted to share what a great time we had in Pittsburgh. My husband and I took our 14 year old grandson for a few days. Our tour guide George was the BEST. George's knowledge of Pittsburgh was amazing. All the places he took us we would never have found on our own, The Candy Store, The Great Steeler Gear Store, Franco Harris footprint, all the beautiful buildings. He is a wealth of information on all these great buildings. George loves his beautiful city and when you are done with the tour you will too. Thank you Paula and Alan Grandson Alan..

This was a great tour for a first time visitor. It was just my 13 yr old granddaughter and myself. George was right on time and was very engaging the whole two hours. It was cold and snowing off and on, but the tour was still fun. The history he knows is unbelievable. I wish I could remember half of what he told us. I so want to go back to Pittsburgh when the weather is better and see some of the other sights. But if your time is limited as ours was this is a great highlights tour.

George was very friendly and explained the places to see quite well. I would recommend George to anyone planning on using a private tour of the city. We took the 2 hour tour and we were 4 of us including 2 small kids. All of us enjoyed the tour and it helped us decide how we could spend the rest of our stay in the city.

This is a must take tour with George if you are visiting Pittsburgh. My wife and I decided to celebrate our 25 Wedding anniversary at Heinz Field as we are life long Steeler fans from Idaho. We also took our two sons 18 and 21 with us. We had never been to a Steeler game at Heinz Field, nor had we ever been to Pittsburgh. I read the online reviews for this two hour tour and saw all the great comments about George. They were absolutely spot on and George made out trip more enjoyable from start to finish. When I first spoke with George on the phone he gave me many valuable insider tips on what to do in Pittsburgh before we even got there. Then we had a great experience with George showing the best of what the city had to offer from History, good food, the best place to buy Steeler gear. We came to Pittsburgh loving the Steelers, we left after the big Steeler win loving the people and city of Pittsburgh!

This was the best way to start a visit to a new city for me. Our tour guide is a retired teacher and clearly loved his city. We learned so much and really enjoyed sharing our travel experiences with him. It didn't hurt that he was such a sports fan either. We really hot it off.

This tour gives you everything you ever wanted to know about Pittsburgh AND more! George is a wealth of information and he gets you to the front of the line without having to wait. Had we gone on our own, we would have waited over an hour probably more at the incline. Also the insight into the City, his pride in his great city and his enjoyment in giving his tours was evident. He was a great help in understanding not only the history of the city, but that of the whole region! I guess I should have paid more attention in history class! We really enjoyed our afternoon spent with George and I am sorry for him that the Steelers didn't win the game! Go Cowboys!
