Browse the central market, where you'll see a variety of goods including roses, exotic fruits and local vegetables.
Then, follow your guide to the heart of Old Town -- Independence Plaza. Walk around the plaza while admiring the impressive Independence Monument, the Archbishop's Palace and the Government Palace. Learn about the significance of these buildings from your guide as you walk through the plaza.
Next, stop for lunch at a traditional Ecuadorian restaurant. From there, head to the Monastery of San Francisco. This large, ancient building takes up two city blocks and is a must-see attraction. This was a fabulous tour with a passionate, knowledgeable tour guide. He took us to some unusual hidden spots, for example showing us a great sculpting demonstration and a chocolate-making demonstration.

The weather was horrible so the guide altered the tour to help keep us dry in a rain and thunderstorm. Wish I saw more and wasn't so wet and cold! but appreciate the guide being flexible and still making it a great day! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Ecuador and a great conversationalist.

Pablo was amazing! He could/should be a university lecturer. We all were impressed by the volume of information he shared about history of Ecuador, comparative analysis of colonial activity in other countries at the same time periods, how the different Catholic orders and competing religious groups affected the growth of Quito. It was really fascinating and delivered in a very dynamic style that kept the group including our 2 teenagers engaged--and that was really only the first half of the tour. The subsequent ice cream and chocolate stops were delicious and a lot of fun. Friends at home were very happy to receive their scrumptious artisanal chocolates as souvenirs.

This was a great tour to get all of the history of Ecuador and Quito. The Historic downtown is a must when visiting Quito. Pablo was very knowledgeable, answered all questions, and is obviously passionate about his country.

Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable but a bit too talkative in response to questions. I would have liked to have been able to move on more quickly to see more, rather than to have been stuck standing at each stop longer due to extensive answers. Very nice guy though and worth doing if you have limited time.

It was good to ride with a true local person who was enthused to show you his city. This tour hits the highlights and the visit to the local market for an explanation of loach produce and to sit down and eat was a real treat. The food was excellent!

We had a fabulous walking tour with an excellent guide! The visit to the Mercardo Santa Clara was really fun and we were able to try a number of delicious fruits. We got a real sense of the history of Quito while walking around the Old Town. The churches were beautiful and it was fun to experience them through the stories of our guide. An outdoor lunch was the perfect ending to the day.

Our guide was good. We had a good overall view of the Quito old city. Next day we went back to the city centre on our own and found a rather nice restaurant in Casa Gangotena where food was probably better than Zasu, and therefore I suggest lunch choice in front of San Francisco Plaza should be offered in our guided tour.
