G.H. Mumm Champagne House Cellar Tour

G.H. Mumm Champagne House Cellar Tour

Reims, France

Make the most of your time in Reims and discover one of the region’s finest Champagne houses on this 1-hour Mumm Champagne cellar tour. Located in the heart of the Champagne region, the House of Mumm welcomes visitors for a tour of the cellars where some 25 million bottles are stored. Follow your guide through the ancient cellars and gain insight into Mumm’s celebrated Champagne-making traditions and processes. Conclude your tour with a tasting session and sample the fine wine for yourself.

Meet your guide in the plush surroundings of the G.H. Mumm visitor centre in central Reims, and step inside to begin your cellar tour. With grape-laden vineyards spread right across the Champagne region’s rolling hills and one of the industry’s most recognizable bottle labels, G.H. Mumm is widely considered to be France’s finest Champagne producer.

Delve deep into the ancient cellars and learn of the complex and traditional processes involved in the production of the famous Mumm Champagne. Hear how the delicate grapes are harvested from the vine each year, and listen as your guide explains their treatment from cellar to glass.

Choose the ‘Cordon Rouge Experience’ tour and enjoy a tasting of the Champagne house’s signature Cordon Rouge Champagne, or the ‘G.H. Mumm Experience’ for the cellar tour with a tasting of two delicious cuvées. One of these will be a blind tasting; use your sense of taste and smell to discover the different flavor combinations in the Champagne. For a truly special experience, select the ‘En Noirs and Blancs’ tour and sample two vastly different grapes — a chardonnay and a pinot noir — to test your appreciation of their complex differences.

After your cellar visit, spend some time in Mumm’s fascinating Champagne museum to gain further understanding of their 19th-century heritage, then step outside to conclude your tour.

The tour was really informative on all levels, highly recommend this tour, we really enjoyed it and had a nice chilled glass of champagne afterwards.

What a wonderful tour, our guide spoke excellent english and gave us enough time at each spot to take plenty of photos. She was very knowledgeable in the history of French champagne and was able to answer each question well. It was an easy experience booking and finding where the tour was. The only downside was that I couldnt fit a bottle/glasses in my suitcase to take home...recommend to all who love champagne

Great tour very informative. If you are staying in Reims, you can do the tour independently and save a bit of money - just arrive at the cellars and pay for the tour.

Worth every penny. Was a very interesting tour into the cellars and the process of making champagne. The guide Bastion did a great job at explaining the history and traditions of the label. And, of course, the champagne at the end was fantastic

Very good tour and info. FYI if you have reservations for the 2 pm tour, the gates are not open u til 1:45 and the guards totally ignore you. When they open, walk ALL the way to the back of the plaza.

We are Mumm drinkers at home so we're looking forward to the tour. We purchased a package that included 2 different styles of champagne. The tasting room was very disorganised and we only received 1 glass. When we asked about the ease one glass, the host didn't really seem to know what was going on. There were 2 guys from the UK who downed 3 glasses each. We did ask for another one and we were told something about responsible service of alcohol.....!!!!!! I would recommend going to the Tattinger caves as they are a lot more informative and tasting area more organised.... We came all the way from Paris for the day just to go to Mumm so were extremely disappointed .....

Very pricey. We took the delux tasting tour and paid 87 for 2 glasses of champagne. Host spoke excellent English. Guard would not open the gate when we arrived and we had to drive around a find parking offsite. I would not do this if had it to do again.

4.5 star. Great guide. Very informative. The champagne we tasted was good but i would have preferred the higher quality wine. Overall this is a worthwhile tasting and tour

Wonderful tour. Enjoyed it a lot. My one comment is that there are apparently different levels of tasting, depending on your ticket. Viator sells the Cordon Rouge lowest level so if you want a bit more out of the tasting, you might want to ask at the front desk to see if an upgrade is possible. Initially I was offered the 3 pm English tour, but when I asked for an earlier time, they accommodated me with the 11 am tour. At that time, many workers were on lunch break so we didn't get to see them at work. The tour of the cellars was fascinating but the displays were not necessarily self-explanatory. I recommend coming with some good questions about the making of champagne.

The staff was very friendly and spoke English fluently. The tour took us thru the Mumm cellars and the guide was able to speak about how the champagne from the 1860's survived both world wars. Fascinating stuff.

I have been on several tours on the same trip in the Bordeaux region and they were amazing, so much passion and knowledge of their art. The G.H. Mumm tour has been the worst tour i have ever been on, viewed the cellar but it was a robotic impartial tour. I purchased the blanc et noir experience, a couple of glasses were poured and the tour leader walked away. Very poor representation for a large respected vinter. I wish i hadn't wasted my time.

Excellent tour. Make sure you confirm with Mumm direct dont simply rely on the fact that youve made the booking!

This was well worth the time. We decided to take this tour as we were passing through Reims. We called ahead and were told be there 5 minutes before scheduled time. Very efficient, our tour guide spoke english very well and the tour was very informative. I learned a lot about champagnes and choosing the right one. The champagne tasting at the end was the frosting on the cake. Would Recommend!

After going to a few other houses this tour was ok... It's more of a museum so for that aspect I suppose it's good. Staff were semi helpful. Some of the other lesser known houses were far better.

This was great. Me and my wife had a really good time learning about the production of Champagne making. The English speaking tour was very educated and spoke English well. I would recommend the G.H. Mumm tour to anyone.

Worth doing for the experience, however the guide wasn't very captivating and more went through the motions then adding any charisma to the tour. We also did the highest level of tasting and only got two tastings - although they were more glass sized then tastings - was expecting more from the tour i have to say!

This tour was very disappointing. Whilst seeing and learning about the process of producing champagne was OK, for the price, I believe there should have been more than just one tasting. Would not recommend this tour.

Interesting tour and a good explanation of the history and tradition of G.H. Mumm. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate as well. Viator makes the booking process easy and convenient, but they definitely charge a premium for this service. We could have easily walked in and bought tickets directly at G.H. Mumm, but we did not know any better. If you are going during the middle of the week suggest you take your chances and buy the ticket direct.

Informative guide. Plenty of interesting facts, without being stuffy or too educational. Eclectic mix of tourists - all English, including the usual Wally who monopolised the guide's time. This was very annoying as it definitely affected the content of the tour. However, we saw much of the old caves and vats, and had a good, overall idea of the process by the end. Two glasses of champagne at the end to finish :) .Safe off road parking. Recommended (without the Wally)

The tour was very well organised and easy to arrange. The venue was perfect, just a short walk from the centre of Reims, and the tour itself was pretty comprehensive and the tour guide was very good. The tasting was good and was explained to us, so we were able to pick up on some of the finer points of tasting quality wine. There was a good selection of items in the gift shop at reasonable prices.

We traveled from Paris for a tour scheduled and confirmed with Mumm between 2 and 6. We arrived at 2:25 and were rudely turned away by the hostile Mumm representative who said "we were late". We were never told about any schedule other than to be at Mumm between 2 and 6 and even the Mumm representative we spoke to when we confirmed with them said "be there between 2 and 6". We asked if we could at least have a glass of Mumm and she said no and was inpatient for us to leave. Needless to say we returned to Paris never wanting to have anything to do with Mumm.

The champagne cellar tour and tasting were a lot of fun. Make sure you email GH Mumm beforehand and schedule a time for the tour with them. On the Viator website it just states "Visits from 9am to 12am and from 2pm to 6pm" so we showed up at 11am and found out they had scheduled our tour for 2pm. Thank goodness they didn't schedule us before 11am or we would have missed it! Also, the tour (in English) and tasting take about an hour. It was really cool to see the production process, the Grand Cru tasting we got at the end was delicious and you can't beat the price. Definitely recommend!
