Learn to surf in Josiah’s Bay, a surfer’s paradise in the British Virgin Islands. Your certified, friendly instructor will teach the basics of paddling and standing up on your board so you can successfully ride the surf. Your 2-hour lesson includes refreshments plus a 1-hour complimentary board rental for you to continue riding the waves.

For a great introduction to surfing, meet your instructor at Josiah’s Bay, which boasts the best surf in the British Virgin Islands. The fun begins on the beach, where you’ll learn key aspects of surfing, from basic water safety to reading and reacting to sea conditions.
After this half-hour orientation on shore, move into the water and continue with a 2-hour lesson on the waves. You’ll learn the basics of paddling, controlling your board, catching a wave and standing up. The small-group setting makes learning to surf a fun activity, and you can practice for an extra hour after your lesson with a complimentary surfboard rental.
Josiah’s Bay is a great place to hang out afterward with newfound friends on the beach. Watch local surfers catch a perfect wave or enjoy sunbathing, swimming and playing on the long, sandy beach. Head to Josiah's Bay Beach and Snack Bar for a simple meal or enjoy the garden setting at A Secret Garden (own expense). Be sure to bring your camera, swimsuit, towel and sunscreen for a scenic time out in Tortola.

This was a really awesome experience. There was some confusion as to the transportation to Josiah's beach, but they sent a taxi to pick us up and it cost 60.00 for two people round trip. It is on the other side of the island so that is probably fair. The taxi driver there was personable and a good driver, we had a different driver on the way back and we thought we were going to die. The surf lessons were an awesome experience. The staff does a great job with beginners and wants to make sure you are having a great experience. I was really sick with head cold and had difficulties maintaining my balance, so I didn't do so well and had to take many breaks. The instructor spent his time with my son and made sure he was surfing. They did a great job with this one and I would definitely recommend it to adventure seekers!!!! The beach is beautiful, so take the non-surfers who just want to play on the beach with you because they will enjoy it. The water was really warm and the waves were sporadic in size, but probably just right for beginners. In the end we totally enjoyed it.
