Review by:   Erin,    June 2018 2 star review of Capri Day Trip from Rome - ok, could have been better.
I like the idea of this tour. Our guide Christina was great. We went on a Sunday and it was busy. I knew that there would be a long bus ride to get to Naples, and a boat ride to get to Capri, what I didn't know is that more than half 75 of the time that I was going to spend in Capri was going to be waiting for a bus to take us around the island. I opted for the blue grotto tour, which was nice but from others on the tour it sounded like the boat ride around the island would have been a better selection. Anyway, once we got to Capri, we waited for at least an HOUR not exaggerating here to get a bus to take us to the blue grotto. If I would have known this I would have just taken the ski lift up myself and met the group at the top! We waited probably 45 min-1 hr in line for the blue grotto. We were in the blue grotto for maybe 10 minutes. After that, we hopped on a bus to take us to lunch. The lunch was not good. I could have made better pasta using a canned sauce at home. After lunch we had maybe 5 min to either use the bathroom or shop because we were told we had to be on the bus to go back. So lets recap on what I actually did on this tour aside from the transportation... about 10 minutes of the blue grotto, and about 1 hour for lunch... and yep, thats all i did. Anyway, we were told we had to wait for the bus to get back down to the bottom of the island to catch the boat to go back to Naples to get the bus back to Rome. We waited HOURS again, not an exaggeration, it was at least 2 hrs that we waited for this bus when we could have been doing other things like shopping/sight seeing while the tour guides waited for the bus.... there was plenty of time for them to have re-grouped us. So after we got the bus back we had to run again not an exaggeration to get on the boat to head back to Naples. I do not recommend this tour. While Christina was awesome, and Capri was beautiful the only reasons this is getting 2 stars, you are wasting your time. Capri should not be visited for 1.5 hours of an entire day it deserves an entire day in itself or even more. If you have an extra day or two to spend, go there separately and do not take this tour.

The Capri Day Trip was probably the highlight of our Italian vacation. We loved every minute of it - even the bus ride! Our tour leader Christina was EXCELLENT - she is brilliant, a multi-lingual expert of the Gulf of Naples and Italy in general. She is very sweet and knowledgable - she can speak English, French, Italian, Spanish, and probably more languages. She made us feel very safe and taken care of. Do not pass up the opportunity to go to Capri - it is truly amazing and breathtaking._br/_ We didn't opt for the tour of the Blue Grotto - instead, we went up to Anacapri and took the Cable Car up to the top - what a view! We had a drink and took in the sights in this amazing hidden gem._br/_ Lunch was good, it wasn't your typical gourmet Italian cuisine, but for an included lunch it was certainly great._br/_ We took a boat ride around the island of Capri which was so amazing to do, and what a way to see the other parts of the Island and bask in the hot Italian sun! We had great company on this boat ride, it was a wonderful add-on to take part in. _br/_ Not to worry about comfort stops - we took one break on the way to Naples and then another stop on the way back to Rome. We could grab a quick lunch or coffee, use the restroom, etc. It was perfect! _br/_ The day was truly the highlight of our trip and we will never forget how happy, and thankful we were for visiting such a beautiful place. _br/_ Please, if you have the chance, book this tour!! I can guarantee that if you take the cable car and the boat ride on the island, you will have a wonderful time and bring home so many happy memories. _br/_ PS. Buy wine at the lunch place and bring it on board the boat for the boat ride - such a great idea that a few of us travellers did!

So I will start with the positives. Capri was stunning and I'm so happy I got to see it in the short time I was in Italy. Transportation was made simple and I didn't feel at all stressed getting to and from.

Excellent Day Trip. It includes everything from logistics to meals to excellent service. Highly recommended to enjoy Capri on a quick day trip.

This is three hour bus ride from Rome and then a 45 minute boat ride. I was very tired from walking the past three days so I actually enjoyed the chance to sit down and rest and the bus was very comfortable. However, our time in the Blue Grotto was probably two minutes give or take. The tour company has no control over this though and I am just sharing for information only. The lunch was okay. We had around 1.5-2 hours shopping time. I loved the Blue Grotto and the chance to rest. This might be a better excursion if it just left from Naples rather than Rome. . .just because of the distance.

That day have no ship to Capri and go to Pompeii to instead. However, I have been Pompeii just one day before that Capri trip. So, I left the tour from Naples without lunch and go back to Rome by myself.

The tour was good the only bad thing is the food it offers, I went 3 years ago to the same tour and it was in the same restaurant but the food much worse would change the place completely, and according to the tour we thought the boat tour would come included but the same guide we charged an extra or probably did not come included, did not cover our expectations at all

We had 40 minutes of free time before a really bad lunch and then 40 minutes of free time after lunch._br/_ It was really poorly organized, one of the worst tours i have ever been on!

Plan for a long day of travel, but the view from the top of Capri is stunning. Great shopping too. The only negative was the 45 minute rest stop there, wish it was shorter to give us more time at Capri.

Most amazing day trip ever. Our tour ended up to be private since it was the last day the ferry was going out to the island before closing for winter. Sunny, gorgeous views! Photos to die for. Engaging and brilliant tour guide gave us insider tips, was endlessly fascinating. I am only sorry I did not post this sooner. Bar none, these photos from this day are the most glorious I have ever taken and probably ever will. Heavenly vistas at every angle.

Capri is lovely and I would recommend a visit there however not in a day trip from Rome. It is a 13-14 hour day mostly on a bus or boat. Tour guides were very adequate.

Very disappointed in this trip. 7-8 hours of just traveling between the bus and boat ride to get to And from Capri. Once there we we took a quick scenic walk, ate a sub par lunch, rode up the hill and then back down. That was it! The guide in Capri was dull and lifeless and barely spoke to us.

This day trip should be mandatory for anyone visiting Rome, it was absolutely amazing! There's an optional chair lift ride that was shouldn't be missed. This was by far the best day of my trip to Italy.

The restaurant we ate at was not good at all they need to take guests to a different place. _br/_ If the weather was nicer it would have been awesome but we worked with what we had. _br/_ It seemed unorganized

Capri is a beautiful island. The challenge is the large group 55 and moving them around. It's a 3 hour ride south from Rome to Naples. The tour guide was great and very talented - being multi lingual. However for the entire bus ride she would make announcements in 4 different languages so there was never any down time or quiet time on the bus. Maybe a handout for people to read and discern themselves? Upon arrival to Carpi which yes is beautiful after disembarking from the 1 hour boat ride from Naples, we had top wait another 45 minutes for a bus to take us to the top Anacapri where we had literally about 30 minutes to shop and explore before meeting for the included lunch. The lunch was very good and it was very nice getting to know the other day travelers. Since my table was last to be served desert/coffee we were a bit rushed and unable to finish our desert before paying catching the bus to return to the lower part of the island. Upon returning to Capri, we had about 1 hour to shop or take in the beach before returning to Naples. Had I known this from the start, I would have left the group when we arrived on the island and explored on my own, and had more time. For 6 hours travel time and 2 hours on a ferry I felt very rushed. We live and learn. The bus from Naples to Rome Termini was also a challenge - they say they drop you at your hotel, but I would have been the 11th stop at the Michaleangelo Vatican City and would have arrived home after midnight, so at that point I decided to get off at the Termini station where the Greenline office is and take a cab to hotel and save myself more time.
