The tour at River Alento Oasis includes two guided tours: the first one at the Dam and monitoring systems, the second one is a nature hike in the oasis. With both visits you will be able to come in full contact with nature.
The tour begins with a first guided tour of the Dam Alento and monitoring systems. Through this excursion you will appreciate the majestic work made by man: in the first part it will be made an introduction to the dam, its history and its construction. You will walk on the crown and then you will descend into the tunnels inside the dam itself; here you will find out how and with which technologies is constantly monitored.
It follows a nature hike in the oasis through which you may delve deeper into the wildest and unspoilt area: you will follow for a short distance the Alento river to lake "Fiumicello" and finally you may do birdwatching in equipped locations. You will become aware of the species of flora and fauna that inhabit the area, their characteristics, particularities and curiosities.
