Salerno to Amalfi and Positano Private Boat Excursion

Salerno, Italy

Cruise ship docking in Salerno? Discover the best of the Amalfi Coast on a private boat excursion. See the coastline through the eyes of a local with your own private boat and captain, swim in the various inlets and bays and check out the natural formations and grottos. These private excursions are customized to suit any itinerary and boats range from holding 1 to 30 passengers.

Experience a day filled with picturesque views in one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in Europe, the Amalfi Coast. Embark from Piazza della Concordia in Salerno and begin an unforgettable adventure. Primarily consisting of limestone, the coast includes natural arches and vast cliffs.

The itinerary for this excursion is customizable, however, a typical day consists of the following:

Upon leaving Salerno pass the village Vietri sul Mare, “The first pearl of Amalfi,” because it is where the Amalfi Coast and Amalfi drive begin. Following Vietri lies the fishing village Cetara, renown for its production of anchovies. Continue past Maiori and Minori, two neighbouring villages sitting on the sea. Maiori is much larger than Minori and has a large “Lungomare”, a street parallel to the long beach. Maiori also features a hidden cave known as “Pandora’s Grotto”, only accessible by the sea. Next is Ravello, a village positioned closer to the clouds than the sea. High above Marmorata, Ravello is well known for its stunning views over the Gulf of Salerno.

Cruise past the town of Amalfi, arguably the most popular destination for tourists on the coast. Here lies the cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew, a 9th century Roman Catholic structure.

Take in the sights of Conca dei Marini, voted in the top 100 most beautiful villages in Italy. A notable sight is the Lover’s Arch, a natural formation of limestone. “Conca” is also home to the Emerald Grotto, a green cave with an underwater nativity scene. This village features several quaint beach-side restaurants where you can taste some of the best seafood in the area.

Upon exiting Conca dei Marini, get your camera ready, as the Fiordo di Furore is home to the annual World Championship Diving from Great Heights, with a bridge positioned 30 meters above the water.

Next lies Praiano, built on two sides of a cliff. Next to Praiano rests one of the most photographed destinations in all of Italy, Positano, a vertical village sprinkled with colorful villas sprawling up the mountainside.  Notable attractions in Positano include the Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta, a historic church with a vast dome created in the 1920’s.

The day will wrap up back at the Piazza della Concordia where you originally embarked, unless otherwise indicated.
