On the Austrian Lakes and Mountains Salzburg Sightseeing Tour, experience the breathtaking beauty of one of Austria's most beautiful regions - the Lake District - just beyond the gates of Salzburg. Your tour begins with a scenic view of Salzburg before touring the scenic and historical landmarks of the beautiful Lake District.
You will see the impressive hunting castle Fuschl, today a luxury hotel, where the Prince Archbishops spent many seasons. In St Wolfgang there is time to visit the famous winged gothic altar by Michael Pacher, and there will be a stop at the White Horse Inn for refreshments. From St Wolfgang you be able to enjoy a 25 minute boat ride (21 April - 26 October only) to St Gilgen, where Mozart's mother was born, on the other side of Lake Wolfgang.
Passing Castle Huttenstein, you will continue along the Mondsee. The ever-changing and contrasting scenery will make this tour an unforgettable memory.
I am a regular user of Viators and have always had great trips out booking through your site. However this trip was a huge disappointment despite the best efforts of the guide. The weather was lousy which didn't help but that has not had a bearing on my review. The main problem was that this was supposedly a 4 hour trip viewing 3 beautiful lakes of Austria, but it didn't start until 2pm. Being late November it was completely dark by the time we were passing the 3rd lake and we didn't even stop - not that there would have been much point! This should be a morning trip, or start at midday at the latest. Additionally the trip blurb clearly states as a highlight that it includes a visit to Castle Fuschl. All we had was the guide point out a building in the distance about half a mile away as we drove past - and because of the poor weather it was barely visible. That doesn't constitute a visit to my way of thinking! The details of the trip also refer to popping into the famous White Horse Inn at St Wolfgang. The guide never mentioned the Inn whilst we were there it is only when I have read the details afterwards! We knew that the boat ride was replaced with coffee and cake due to the time of year, but it did mean that having the coffee and cake was just about all the time we had in St Gilgen, so no real time to look around which although it was dark by then, it would have been nice to wander around the Christmas Market there. Finally, instead of this being advertised as a 4 hour trip, we were back in under 3 and a half hours. Maybe it is 4 hours in the summer when the boat trip is included, or it may have been 4 hours if it had been daylight when we passed the 3rd lake and we stopped for photos but as neither was the case we could have perhaps been given more time to explore St Gilgen after the coffee and cake, or at St Wolfgang when we could have perhaps been shown and visited the famous White Horse Inn, or even a detour that would have taken us somewhat closer to Castle Fuschl when it was still at least still daylight for us to have stopped and taken a photo or two....

A beautiful tour. Breathtaking scenery. Note that after November 1, the tour no longer includes the boat ride, which should've been better noted before you sign up - instead, you stop at a little cafe for cake and coffee/hot chocolate. I'm sure I would've given this tour one or two additional stars if I had taken it before November 1!

We're estimating this review based upon another trip we were boarded onto in error by Panorama tours, but which included a fair element of lakes and mountains, although no boat trip. The scenery is lovely - very reminiscent of the west coast of Scotland - but we felt we were being rather rushed through it all, and that places were rather 'touristy'. Which I guess we ought to have expected by booking a trip like this!

The trip was well organised, on time and very informative. Unfortunately cake and coffee/refreshments was offered as part of the deal on Viator, but there was no such an activity included.

Lovely tour! It was perfect for us as it is a 4-hour tour so it is not that long and we only had availability in the afternoon. We were super lucky with the weather which made the mountains and lakes even nicer! Tour departed on time, with a lovely guide that was really patient with all the passengers. This tour is a great mix as you take a bus, then you go on the cruise (which is super comfortable and you can have drinks in there) and then you visit the lovely town of St Wolfgang, what a gem! Worth to do it to have a glance of the beautiful Salzburg Mountain and Lakes.

This is a great trip to see Austrian lakes and mountains. I had Max as a guide and he simply was the best with all his knowledge of the area. I reccomend this trip to anyone wanting to get out of Salzburg for four hours and see the beautiful countryside.

This tour was not worth the money. It was a long bus journey, followed by a short boat trip across the Wolfgangsee lake and a short amount of time in the town of St.Wolfgang. The tour guide was really struggling and made people feel uncomfortable, possibly because he was struggling to speak in English. The town and lake are beautiful, I would recommend visiting them, but not with this tour.

So pleased we booked this tour! We had wanted to visit Hallstatt but it was over our budget so went for this tour and are so glad we did and felt it wouldn't have been much different. The views were breathtaking and our guide Wolfgang was excellent. Highly recommend!

Great afternoon trip. Boat trip and walk around st Gilgens and bus tour on way back. 4 hours in total. Nice to sit back and be guided around after a number of long hikes in Salzburg area.

The boat ride was great but it was so rushed and the guide didn't really point out any sights. She didn't show us where the church was and we had to run to catch her up most of the time. It was a bit of a shame.

Very short time for walking at least to get a snack. We expect a free drink or biscuits even along the trip as other trips offer. I think it's expensive for the benefit. Last thing, there were only 2 persons that speak German while all the others were speaking English but German language was the main all over the trip .otherwise trip was great

The lakes and the mountains were absolutely breath taking and it was a great way to see the countryside outside of the city center. The boat ride was wonderful. We kicked our feet up, drank beers and soaked in the stunning scenery. We would definitely recommend this tour!

The lakes and sceneries are breath taking. But the tour was on a coach bus including more than 50 people. So I am not sure why the tour description on the website says it is a small group tour!

Lovely views of the lakes and mountain areas from the coach and lake. Don't forget your camera. Had a 40 minute boat ride on the lake included and then 45 minutes in St Wolfgang, time to look round plenty of shops and have a drink. Michelle our guide was not as good as the other guides we had on our other tours of Sound of Music and Eagles Nest, but don't think she was used to doing it.

The scenery was truly spectacular, the tour guide Carlos was excellent and informative. Unfortunately the thing that spoilt this trip was some of the fellow travelers. We were told to arrive at 1-45 for a 2 o'clock start and some people didn't turn up until 2-15 which was very bad mannered. Then there was the young lady on the coach who pushed other travellers aside as she had to have the best view for taking photos and was then 25 minutes late getting back to the coach without any apology. I'm not sure what coach companies can do in these circumstances but she spoilt our day

Enjoyed this trip out to the lakes. It was a gentle pace, suitable for my 84 year old mother. It was a wonderfully sunny and warm day which meant we could appreciate the scenery more. It had been cloudy when we arrived and so we wouldn't have seen much if we had gone on that day. The guide was knowledgeable and the commentary informative. The only downside was that it followed the same route taken by the Sound of Music tour for half the journey.

This tour is beautiful. It snowed the entire tour. It was beautiful. No mountain peaks today and the lakes could not be seen from a distance. I didn and #39;t take this tour this way. The Sound of Music and this tour over lap. Panarama Tour was kind enough to transfer my tour to Bavarian Alps and Salt Mine.

Excellent commentary by a nice guide in both German and English--entertaining without being cheesy, and gave us a lot of interesting info about what we were seeing. Glad they pulled over for a photo op once, then organized a great ferry ride across Wolfgangsee and adequate time for some brief sightseeing in St. Wofgang before the bus ride back to Salzburg. Great experience all around!

We absolutely loved this tour. This was our second time on this tour. It is a lot of fun. Great scenery, fun boat ride and exploring villages, perfect. It did rain half way through the boat trip but it did not stop the fun, we would go again, GREAT day trip.

This was an amazing tour. Wolfgang and especially the old church was a really amazing place to visit. We had an hour to wander the town which was more than enough time. The driver on the way pulled over for us to snap some pictures for a few minutes so there was never a feeling of being rushed.. The tour guide was so nice and totally knowledgeable. The boat ride is fantastic though it is crowded but that had nothing to do with the tour company the boat is locally owned. Make sure you have cash most stores take no credit cards cash only but really nice and unique Austrian goods. 2-6 in early evening was perfect for us we are lunch before and had dinner on drop off near the church

This is a repeat of the same area as 'The Sound of Music' tour - so if you were booking this music tour, then go on another tour. The scenery is beautiful, but the boat ride is taken at the same time as many other tour groups - no real room to sit, relax and take photos!! VERY squished and disappointing!
