This afternoon tour starts with a panoramic tour of Salzburg which will provide you with an opportunity to see as many historical and cultural highlights as possible in the city where Mozart was born. Then, you'll experience the breathtaking beauty of one of Austria's most beautiful regions - the Lake District just beyond the gates of Salzburg.

Your tour will commence from Mirabell Square and take you through Mozarteum, the new part of the City, then continue to Mozart's Residence. Continue over the Staatsbrucke into the baroque Old Town with its resplendent Dome and the festival quarter.

Passing the Nonnberg Abbey you will see Castle Leopoldskron, used as the von Trapp family home in the film, "Sound of Music". The tour will then return to Mirabell Square where the lake and mountains tour will commence with a scenic view of Salzburg. You will be introduced to many scenic and historical landmarks on the way to the beautiful Lake District, such as the impressive hunting castle Fuschl, today a luxury hotel, where the Prince Archbishops spent many seasons.

In St Wolfgang there is time to visit the famous winged gothic altar by Michael Pacher, and there will be a stop at the White Horse Inn for refreshments. From St Wolfgang you be able to enjoy a 25 minute boat ride (May 1 - October 26 only) to St Gilgen, where Mozart's mother was born, on the other side of Lake Wolfgang.

Passing Castle Huttenstein, you will continue along the Mondsee. The ever-changing and contrasting scenery will make this tour an unforgettable memory and is a must for every visitor to Salzburg.

The best tour on our two week adventure. We had explored Salzburg on our own but the tour with Mirkor was very informative. There were only 2 couple for the lakes part of the tour so Anne Marie drove us in a mini van through the beautiful scenery to St. Wolfgang and St. Gilgen. She put us on a boat which was fantastic and met us on the other side. I can't say enough good things about our tour guide, Anne Marie. She had a delightful Montreal English accent and an equally delightful personality. She made us feel that she wasn't just a tour guide but she was participating in the adventure with us. She played a few minutes of Austrian music for us yodeling which was surprisingly pleasant as we sailed through the beautiful countryside. We're home now but I have very good memories of our little tour. She recommended an excellent local bier garten and dropped us off nearby Die Weiss.

City tour is ok for a quick tour of the highlights of Salzburg. To see more, you ne d to get out and walk around the old town area. Lakes and mountains tour was nice, but be ready for the crowds, especially around St Wolfgang.

Disappointing tour. The City Tour is a pure bus tour, and there is practically no chance to get out of the bus to see the various sites. The second part -- the ferry tour is too long.

The city tour was honestly a partial waste of time, as we spent all the time inside a minivan with the driver/tour guide. However, one hour would not have been enough to see everything he showed.

Sound of Music fantastic. Helen was fantastic. The next day we went on the City + mountain and lake tour which was going to overlap the SOM tour sites so our fantastic driver (unfortunately we didn't get his name) took us to other sites which were even better than the Sites from the previous tour.

The city part of the tour was very average. Van wasn't that comfortable and guide was doing three languages because they grouped others with us. We had to sit apart even though we were there first. We wouldn't recommend it. We did a better job of seeing city sites on our own. That said, the lakes and mountains sightseeing was spectacular. Very comfortable bus with big windows. The scenery is phenomenal, the ride comfortable and the information thorough. We even had some time on our own. The boat ride was great as well- it was a beautiful, sunny day. Five star trip. Definitely recommend it.

1. Read the fine print. Unlike all the other tour operators we have dealt with his operator offers only hotel pickup NOT drop off at hotel at end of tour.

The Austrian Lakes part of this tour was really lovely. However was a little disappointed with the City Tour - we literally sat on a bus for the whole duration, and got whisked around the sights of Salzburg. I would have preferred to walk around a bit. However the guide did a great job, considering the itinerary. Would definitely recommend the Lakes component.

We had to meet the tour guide across from the Mirabell Gardens. We were looking for some sign of "Viator" not knowing the local tour company had a different name. Once we figured that out we were shown to a van and sat in the van for 15 minutes while we were waiting for a late arrival. The first hour of the tour is a van trip that is not worth your time. Although the guide was good if you were sitting in the middle of the van seat you didn't see much. You can have a better time using the "hop on - hop off" bus and a guide book. The second part of the tour was a bus ride up to the lakes area and well worth the trip. A boat ride on Lake Wolfgang and a stop at St. Wolfgang with beautiful scenery. The stop at St. Wolfgang could be lengthened.

Since we had taken the Original Sound of Music tour the local operator suggested we change the tour as this one would be a duplicate. He convinced us to take the Bavarian Mountain Tour. Which was disappointing. We spent an hour in a town while we waited for those who were on the Salt Mine Tour. Most of the day was spent on the bus outside of the 1 hour wait. The City Tour ran late and was in a van which you couldn't see out of the windows and then the Bavarian bus left without us so we had to be driven to catchup to the tour.

Salzburg city tour was useless. Guide was servicing both German and English speaking tourist. She was talking too fat and we could hardly understand anything she said. This was inspite of asking her to slow down. Monuments would pass by after she was done telling us about them so we did not kno which monument she was taking about. As far as lake and Mountain trip is concerned, it was good.

This was very good value. The Salzburg City tour was done in a minivan so there were only 4 of us. Charlotte our guide was excellent. Parts of the tour were the same as the Sound of Music tour but that was not a problem._br/_ The Lakes and Mountains was also very good. Not too rushed and outstanding natural beauty.

We were six persons and we were put in a eight seater van with two french speaking persons who seated in the front. the guide had to converse in french as well which distracted us since we had requested for a tour in English language. Also, we expected a bus with large windows so that the persons sitting in the middle can have a full panaromic view which we could not get due to size of the van. we think we did not get value for the money we paid.

A very enjoyable day with a pleasant guide. The Salzburg tour is nothing special but the Lake tour is great. The boat ride to St. Wolfgang was particularly memorable. We were very fortunate to have good weather since it rains a lot in Salzburg.

The city tour was short and not that interesting. That may have been partly the local tour company, the rain, and the fact this city is not that interesting if you are not a rabid fan of "The Sound of Music". The Austrian lakes tour part was a bit better and the local guide, Natasha, was quite colorful and nice. Unfortunately, that did not save this package from 2 stars.

The mountains and lakes are breathtaking!! Definitely worth visiting and much nicer than those in Switzerland. The commentary was over-the-top with bad jokes (bring headphones to tune it out). The stop at the tea shop for cake was a nice surprise.

This is one of the most picturesque areas I have seen in Salzburg. The boat ride on Lake Wolfgang is well worth it and the unique town of St. Gilgen is absolutely beautiful. The 70km bus ride through the countryside was magical.

Forget the city tour.. just do the mountains and lakes.. City can just take a map and walk around yourself, city is smaller than you expect.. Better than just a quick drive within 1 hour to get a quick glimpse only.. also especially when some of the main attractions are on pedastrians only walkways so the car cannot take you there.. _br/_ Boat cruise was lovely..

The city tour was good except the driver/guide had to do everything in 2 different languages, which was distracting and being the only 2 in English and the other 5 in German, we got slighted. It also made us late for the second part of the trip to the lakes. It was a huge tour bus and my husband and I couldn't sit together because none of the singles would give up their window seat and the tour guide would not assist. On the way back from St. Gilgen, we got to the bus early and just took over a seat, but that person sitting there before was not happy with us. Also, the guide had to do the tour in FOUR languages, so it was constant chatter and exhausting. If you can't get a tour that is complete in the language you desire, I suggest you pass on it.

Didn't take this one. The tour company said it covered much of the same area as the Sound of Music Tour. We went to Eagle's Nest instead, which was a great tour of Hitler's hideaway.

Amazing overview of the lakes and mountains. We went to this most beautiful small town St. Wolf gang, the highlight of the tour. If you are tight on time and want to see the most beautiful parts around Salzburg. Go for this tour!!

The first part of the tour was in a minivan and the guide took us around the city and to the outskirts of Salzburg to see a lake and palace. This tour was basic and informative. On the second tour we went about 1 hr. out of town on a tour bus. This was a scenic drive and I enjoyed it. In St. Gilian we boarded a ferry and went to St. Wolfgang. The boat ride was relaxing and again I enjoyed the scenery. St. Wolfgang had many shops and eateries and was a quaint town. I enjoyed the day out and the drive back to Salzburg.

The complete tour was broken into city tour and lakes and mountaines tour. City tour was not that good as the bus/wagon used is a normal one and not those typically used for tourists (large windows). It's a challenge to see anything. The lakes and mountains part is the good one, specially the boat ride with a pitstop at St. Wolfgang.
