Your 1.5-hour walking tour of Savannah begins in Reynolds Square, which contains some of the most interesting historical buildings in the city. Your guide will explain how this square was the center of colonial government in the 1700s, and originally held the House of Assembly, where the first reading of the Declaration of Independence in Georgia took place.
Travel back in time as you enjoy a leisurely stroll through the streets and squares of Old Savannah and the downtown area, which includes the Savannah Historic District, the Savannah Victorian Historic District and 22 park-like squares. In our case it was the The Green-Meldrim House beside Madison Square. We were able to return a second day and have our bearings plus follow up another recommendation - the historic homes on Ogelthorpe.

Good tour but we had trouble finding the starting place so missed part of the tour. The owner did the tour and made a number of negative comments about northerners and the previous president of the US. Totally unnecessary and ruined his otherwise fine tour.

It was a good tour. We made our reservation late so we did not have much to choose from. I wish we had done a tour that went into some of the houses. I was surprised, the guide talked a lot about the civil war but nothing about the slaves. I would guess the slaves had a major role in building Savannah, in its economy, and in it's history. At least Charleston tours will mention the slave market and their contributions to the city. It was maybe a 2 mile walk. We saw a lot of squares and what was significant of each one. It was a lot better than the ghost tour we did later that evening. The ghost tour was a waste of time.

OUR GUIDE WAS EXCELLENT! EVEN THOUGH OUR TOUR WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO ENCOMPASS THE FOUNTAIN HE TOOK US UP THERE SINCE ALL OF US WANTED PICTURES. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND HAD AN EXCELLENT GRASP OF THE HISTORY AND POINTED OUT SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT FACTS AS WELL AS A FEW GHOST STORY REFERENCES THAT WERE ALSO VERY INTERESTING. Extremely knowledgeable guide. I have difficulty hearing and had no problem. We saw all the highlights of Savanna's historical district with many interesting anecdotes. We were running late and couldn't find a parking spot. Since I booked with Viator, the guide had our phone number. We weren't there 10 minutes early as requested so we got a call. Told him would be there at the time or a few minutes later. He said would start talking at the meeting spot and not to worry he would be there. I was very happy that Viator gave him my cell.

The tour itself was fine our tour guide not so much. He forgot that the Civil War ended over 150 years ago. He took several opportunities to disparage the North with various comments. We signed up to learn about Savannah, not someone's personal opinions on everything he felt compelled to share his wisdom with us on.

It was a beautiful day for a walk around historic Savannah, so my wife and I headed down from Beaufort and broke the historic walking tour. Our tour guide Lance even though a LA transplant was full of local knowledge and gave us a good grounding in the history of this beautiful city. Lots of tips on where and where not to eat! Well worth the price.

The tour was very interesting and informative. Our guide was very knowledgable about the history of Savannah, and was able to answer all our questions. Was a little worried at the beginning, as he only showed up a few minutes before the tour was about to start. My only complaint would have been that he moved quite quickly, not allowing a lot of time for pictures. My husband was often trailing behind, as he loves to take photos of everything we see.

I wish this tour had been better organized. Our info was to meet our tour guide at one park, and after calling, we found out we were to meet him at a park three blocks away, which was closer to him and he would get there sooner. We parked closer to the first park. I wish I had thought twice about taking a summertime afternoon walking tour, it was hot. Should have chosen a horse drawn trolley tour, but not sure we could have asked questions. There was a lot of walking and no information given between stops. In all fairness my husband was able to keep up better and stayed engaged more. Viator has been my go to, but feel I need to do more research next time. We were the only clients on this tour and that may have made a difference.

This was a pleasant, relaxing way to stroll the area and learn about its history! Not only was our tour guide very knowledgeable he was able to gear the trip to our particular interests. We were so impressed that he waited patiently for us while we struggled with parking problems--2 different kiosks we tried were out of order! Ack! We were stressing about being late! Yet our guide helped us take a deep breath, and let that all go, once we met up with him. He did not cut the tour short rather he stayed past our agreed upon time!

Very interesting! Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk briskly . . . it is not a stroll. You cover a lot of ground in a short time and you do not end up anywhere near where you started, so you have to walk back to your starting point. Our guide was discombobulated and felt rushed. But, the information offered was very interesting. We never would have understood the significance of the landmarks with just wallking around on our own. Enjoy!

The tour was not nearly as good as previous reviews. Our guide shared too much personal information and personal opinions e.g., Paula Dean was wronged. The tour just travels up one street and fails to give you an overview of the city. We ended up taking a trolley tour to actually see and learn about old Savannah.
