Jerez and Cadiz Day Trip from Seville

Seville, Spain

Enjoy a taste of southern Spain’s countryside and culture on this Jerez and Cádiz day trip from Seville. Taste Spanish wine at a winery near Jerez, where the fertile soils offer ideal growing conditions. Catch a performance of ‘How Andalusian Horses Dance’ at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez. Explore Cádiz at your leisure during free time, then take a panoramic coach tour of the ancient city. Soak up stunning coastal views and discover top spots such as La Viña and Santa María in the Old Town.

Following a morning pickup from your Seville hotel, meet your guide and hop aboard your air-conditioned coach for the 1-hour drive to nearby Jerez. Take your seat in comfort and settle in as the rolling Spanish countryside flicks past outside.

On arrival in Jerez, visit a local winery and gain insight into the region’s rich winemaking heritage. Admire the rolling vineyards and rows of casks, learn of the traditions and techniques in use from grape to glass and sample the wine for yourself during a tasting session.

Continue on to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and enjoy a performance of the ‘How Andalusian Horses Dance’ show. The performance features choreography adapted from the training exercises of classical dressage, incorporating traditional Spanish music and costumes dating back to the 18th century. Marvel as the horses and riders dance together in a celebration of artistic creativity, harmony and color, accompanied by the rhythmic beat of traditional Spanish music.

When the curtains close on the show, continue on by coach to Cádiz. Enjoy a little free time to wander the streets and soak up the sunshine at your leisure, and perhaps find a local café or restaurant for lunch (own expense).

After, join a sightseeing trip and enjoy a panoramic tour of Cádiz, the oldest populated city in Europe. Cádiz sits on a narrow spit of land off the Andalusian coast and boasts a fascinating history and heritage. Discover ancient corners of the Old Town such as La Viña and Santa María and take in spectacular coastal views.

When your bus tour of Cádiz comes to an end at around 5pm, take the 1.5-hour journey back to your Seville hotel to conclude your tour.

Horse show was great but felt rushed before and after.

An interesting well balanced trip. The horse show was brilliant, even without being a horsey person. My only criticism would be about the intermittent microphone on the coach which was annoying. Two hours in Cadiz was enough to get a feel about the it - a lovely place.

The horse show was great. The rest of the trip was just ok or boring. The guide spent more time talking in Spanish to everyone else and very little time for the English speaking guests. Plus, she was hard to understand. So, most of the trip was not very memorable as we didn't have much of a guide.

Rich programme, great places, reasonable tour management. The coach tour on the beach in Cadiz is poor experience however.

It was hot, of course, it's Spain. It would have been good to give out water like other tours do. Also we were dropped off in Cadiz and told we could purchase a map at the visitors center. It would have been good to provide maps. I paid a lot for a tour of a winery and the horse show. The guide, Jose, was friendly and had a good personality. But I could have saved my money and taken a bus to Cadiz and Jerez and_br/_ Our guide, Jose, was very nice and had a friendly personality. The tour of the winery was disappointing. But the horse show was amazing. However, if you were to do it again. I would take a bus to Jerez and buy a tour of the horse show. Maybe I would have gotten more information about the school and the horses. I thought for the cost of this tour we would get a little more. For example, it was very hot, normal for Spain, yet no water bottles were previded. I

This was one of our best trips out from Seville. The Royal Equestrian School at Jerez is amazing. The show of Spanish Haute Ecole is superb. Being a polo-player and horseman I found it to be truly spectacular. Far better than the more well known Vienna Spanische Hofreitschule._br/_ Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept us interested throughout the journey thru beautiful countryside with amazing insights. She is seen in the picture next to me.

The sherry tour and tasting was very good, the horse show was very repetitive and although the horses work very hard and are very skilled its the same thing over and over for the whole show. I started to feel sorry for the horses by the end of the show. Our time in Cadiz was hampered by the weather as it was so cold and windy so most of our time indoors however the bus tour around Cadiz was good. Our tour guide Maria was very good and handled the situation very well when our bus broke down on the way back to Saville. Would recommend the winery and Cadiz but give the horses a miss.

This was an excellent tour and Javier was a superb guide. From start to finish, he was friendly, welcoming, informative, helpful and with a good sense of humour as well as very proficient in English. The tour was well organised, with the morning visits in Jerez to the Tio Pepe sherry tasting and the horse show being particular highlights. Time was available for a leisurely lunch in Cadiz afterwards. Note that the tour no longer includes a boat trip as was previously the case. Thank you so much, Javier!

Good trip, definitely worth to go. The guide in the vinary was very knowledgeable and fun. Unfortunately, the company guide was a disaster. She spoke terrible English, most of the time she spoke Spanish, ignoring English part of the group. Based on what she managed to say in English, I took that she actually doesn't know much. We don't know who Viator local provider is until we pay and receive a voucher. I think the company should do a better job to screen its providers.

The description on the Viator web site is a little misleading. Firstly, it describes the pickup and drop off point as our hotel but it should have said near our hotel. Also, there is mention of a cruise which we took to mean a boat cruise but that did not materialise. Having said that, the pickup point was only about five minutes away from our hotel so no hassle.

Took the English guided tour, but guide only had limited English. On the journey to Jerez, she tried to read information from her iPhone, phonetically, therefore could only understand every 3rd or 4th word. Pointed to sights and only stated palace, beach and park. The winery visit was very interesting, they had their own guides. Horse show was ok. Overall very disappointed that I didn't learn anything about Jerez or Cadiz considering it was an expensive tour.

We enjoyed the tour very much. The guide, Antonio, was very knowledgeable and personable and answered questions without hesitation. His English was excellent given that the tour was both in Spanish and English. We enjoyed the tour of Tio Pepe sherry factory we only wish that they would have given us a bit more time to taste the different sherries something like 15 minutes which is no enough. The equestrian exhibition was superb we had never seen Andalucian horses perform before and the riders were masterful. It was like a ballet with horses.

We really enjoyed this trip! The luxury minibus arrived punctually and was extremely comfortable. We were impressed with the driver since he drove at a nice, 'gentle' speed. The tour of the Gonzalez Byass Tio Pepe Winery was fascinating thanks to an excellent guide who was a most capable translator in English and French. The 'dancing' horses show is a delight to behold._br/_ One of the slightly negative points was the fact that our tour guide struggled to speak French when our French companion had been told she would have a French translation of the sights we saw. Naturally, she was disappointed about that. We also thought the time spent in Cadiz could have been longer as, by the time we had eaten lunch, there was no time to walk around and see very much._br/_ Overall, though, we would thoroughly recommend this trip!

Unfortunately we had rather bad weather during our trip, but the guide was perfect and great fun. Cadiz in the sun would have been nicer, but we made the best out of the day. The Sherry Bodega was very interesting, but the horse show not really our thing. Make sure you have breakfast before you leave as there a no food stops before lunch around 2PM.

The Bodega we visited in Jerez was beautiful and the guide very knowledgeable. There isn and #39;t much else to see in Jerez but then we were off to Cadiz which is a very pleasant city, lovely gardens on the seaside and beautiful white sandy beach.

Before we started, we were a bit concerned about the length of the trip. In fact, it was not a problem. The timing at each stop is just right and we really enjoyed the day. The guides were very knowledgeable and horses really do dance!

Great trip...we had Javier as our guide and Ramon as our driver. They were both excellent. Javier gave us tidbits during the ride to Jerez de la Frontera and then once in Cadiz, we had some free time to either grab some lunch or tour the sites on our own. We were prepared with our own notes, we picked up a map and then took in some of the sites...and left enough time to enjoy a well-earned beer before boarding the van. The visit to the Gonzalez-Byass Bodega was very good...alot of info and the guide was very nice and besides giving us the facts, provided us with local tidbits. She was very good. The horse ballet at the Fundacion Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre was very nice...shame one cannot take photos or videos. All in all a very nice trip and it made us realize we need to make a separate full-day trip to see Cadiz...it's beautiful, one of the oldest cities in Spain, and there's LOTS to see.

Can't praise our guide, Xavier, highly enough. He was charming and very informative. The tour of the sherry producer was very interesting and the horses beautiful. Not very long in Cadiz but enough for a bite to eat and a look around the centre. The trip was very well organised.

The first stop was at Tio Pepe, Gonzalez Byass winery with sherry tasting. Too early in the morning for me, might have been better at the end of the day. The equestrian school performance was definitely the highlight, and the reason I took the tour. A half day tour that featured only that stop would have been my preference. The stop in Cadiz was long enough for a quick lunch. Our guide was friendly and charming.

I really enjoyed this tour as well. Tasting sherry in the morning wasn't as desirable but the horse show was great. I felt our guide was keen and wanting to please us but some of his historical information was different than I heard with the Road Scholar tour I was on for 2 weeks. I did not question him, however, as it was not that important. I recommend this tour.

Tour guide is excellent. Tour is good but disappointed with the horse show - horses did dance and did the formation well but nothing else. we have seen mush better performance with acrobatic performance. Wine tour is great and Cadiz is beautiful.

A great day out. The visit to one of the foremost Sherry producers was a real eye opener. The scale and technical detail was well described by our guide. The visit to the 'Dancing ponies/horses' was also a superb experience. The only downside being the "No photo's" rule. (Copyright) so we have no record other than our memories. The visit to Cadiz could have been better planned with 'lunch' being taken between 3pm and 4pm. Which was pretty much all the time we had there. No time for a guided walking tour, which would have been appreciated. I would have been happy to return an hour later to fit this in. The two photo stops were pretty uninteresting locations so they could be dropped._br/_ Overall the trip was worth the expense as we would not otherwise have visited the places on the itinerary.

Overall, we enjoyed this tour. The tour of Tio Pepe was interesting and enjoyable. The Andalusian horse show wasn't as animated as I had expected. Too little time in Cadiz. Just enough time to seek out a place for lunch. No time to wander and look around. A quick stop at Victoria beach would have been nice. Our tour guide was attentive but, she spoke very quickly, hard to follow.

Our disappointment was that the trip was not what we had purchased. We purchased the sherry tour/tasting, horses and boat ride up the coast to Cadiz. We did not get the boat ride we paid for--or any boat ride. We asked and our guide said that we would not have a boat tour because the boat stopped working 2 years ago and that people didn't like it because they had to wait and that it was just a short tour. Our tour guide was otherwise fine and we enjoyed the other parts but we felt that we paid for more than we got and therefore it was not advertised correctly and we were overcharged.

Our morning with the tour was exactly as expected. We caught the tour bus/van at a very convenient location and the tour guide gave a great talk on the way to Jerez. Both in English and Spanish. The wine tasting and equestrian show were fantastic. However in the afternoon, in my opinion, the tour took a turn for the worst. The free time listed in the highlights was reserved almost exclusively for lunch, only a few minutes for pictures at the meeting spot. The boat trip listed did not in any way happen nor was it even mentioned. The panoramic tour of Cadiz was a ride in the van throughout the city. We could barely see anything out of the windows, passing by beautiful buildings only to stop twice at the beach for five minutes at a time. The afternoon was very disappointing. I do not think the tour was worth the high price of the ticket.

Enjoyable tour of Gonzalez Byass, however the tasting was very brief and not explained well. The Andalusian Horse performance was incredible and the absolute highlight of the whole tour. The visit to Cadiz was very disappointing - our recommended lunch venue was mediocre and we were approached six times at our table by different people begging for money. It was very uncomfortable. The tour guide was friendly and was bilingual which helped, however I would not recommend this tour as it was a very long time in the bus and with the horses being the only real attraction.
