Private Tour: Luxor Flight and Tour from Sharm el Sheikh

Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt

Maximize your sightseeing in Luxor with a one hour flight to Luxor and spend your valuable vacation time visiting the Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple, Hatshepsut Temple and of course the impressive Karnak Temple.

Valley of the Kings
The king's formal names and titles are inscribed in his tomb along with his images and statues. Beginning with the 18th Dynasty and ending with the 20th, the kings abandoned the Memphis area and built their tombs in Thebes.

Hatshepsut Temple
A tree lined avenue of sphinxes led up to the temple, and ramps led from terrace to terrace. The porticoes on the lowest terrace are out of proportion and coloring with the rest of the building. They were restored in 1906 to protect the celebrated reliefs depicting the transport of obelisks to Karnak and the birth of Queen Hatshepsut. Reliefs on the south side of the middle terrace show the queen's expedition by way of the Red Sea to Punt, the land of incense.

Karnak Temple
Although badly ruined, no site in Egypt is more impressive than Karnak. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man, and represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders. The Temple of Karnak is actually three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples located about 3 kilometers north of Luxor on 100ha (247 acres) of land.

Luxor Temple
The Temple of Luxor was the center of the most important festival, the festival of Opet. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Rameses II, the temple's purpose was as a setting for the rituals of the festival. The festival was to reconcile the human aspect of the ruler with the divine office.

All arrangements good. Guide excellent. Air Mephis SHOCKING in terms of safety and service. Worst airline that I have ever flown. Recommend that Air Egypt be used in future

Wow what a fantastic day! This was an extremely well organised trip that I would wholeheartedly recommend. The local tour company sent the details of our trip to our hotel two days beforehand and we were collected from our hotel reception at 4.30am and were then well looked after by the suplier for the entire day. We essentially had a VIP tour since there was only our family of four on our trip and we had a fantastic and extremely knowledgable tour guide called Maria, to whom we were introduced upon our arrival in Luxor. She spoke excellent English and could answer our every query, bringing ancient Egypt alive - she made the day so enjoyable and was happy to tailor the trip to our needs, allowing us longer at certain sites when we requested it and ensuring we had plenty of water. This trip is far superior to any offered by the hotels and tour companies, since they only provide one tour guide to a coach load and the tourists are herded around from one site to the next with few opportunities to ask questions and little chance to take photos without hoards of other people in the background. We visited the Valley of the Kings and The temple of Hatshepsut in the morning, had a lovely relaxing lunch in a hotel overlooking the Nile and visited the breathtaking Karnak temple and Luxor Temple in the afternoon. A truly special day that was excellent value for money and really made our holiday one to remember! We even arrived back at our hotel in time for dinner. Tips - take plenty of sunscreen, water and Egyptian pounds in small bills for tips. Luxor is much hotter than Sharm El-Sheikh and many had small umbrellas with them for shade!
