Relax over lunch with a local family in their home, enjoying a traditional 2-course meal, and then finish with a tour of the St Petersburg metro network with its impressive architecture and design.
Meet your private guide at the port, and hop inside your air-conditioned minivan for your St Petersburg day trip. First up is an introductory tour of the city to see all the big-name St Petersburg sights. Travel past landmarks like Palace Square, St Isaac’s Cathedral and the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, learning about each sight as you go. In the afternoon, visit a typical family house in the area to spend up to two hours with a local family for lunch. Chat with the family to learn about life in St Petersburg and enjoy two courses of homemade food: usually soup followed by the main course and a cup of tea.
Bid your hosts goodbye, and then return to central St Petersburg to explore its network of metro stations. Grandly decorated with marble, mosaic and stained glass, the Russian metro stations are unique, and so your visit is sure to be impressive. Typically your route takes in Ploshchad’ Vosstania, Admiralteyskaya, Gostiny Dvor and Pushkinskaya.
Travel back to the St Petersburg port in the late afternoon, and finish your tour at the start point.
