Day Cruise to British Virgin Islands from St Thomas or St John

St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

A 9-hour trip to the British Virgin Islands from St Thomas or St John is a fun, action-packed excursion. Start with a breakfast boat ride to the Baths on the island of Virgin Gorda, where a guide takes you through a series of tidal pools and hidden grottoes that are formed by giant rocks on the white sand beach. Snorkel in the waters of Diamond Reef and then munch on island fare with worldly flair at a local restaurant. Visit the island of Jost Van Dyke for swimming and shopping. The tour includes breakfast and an open bar.

This 9-hour tour brings you to the best of the best in the British Virgin Islands. Start your day with a boat ride from St Thomas and St John. During the trip, enjoy coffee and a continental breakfast. Dock at the Baths on the island of Virgin Gorda, 1.2 miles (2 km) from Spanish Town, one of the largest towns in the British Virgin Islands. Thanks to massive rock formations on the white sand beach, the baths are actually a fun, natural water park of tidal pools, arches, hidden grottoes and tunnels.

From Virgin Gorda, head to Diamond Reef, where you can snorkel and check out hundreds of colorful fish in the uncrowded waters. Then it’s on to world-famous Pusser’s Resturant on Marina Cay for some delicious, traditional island fare (own expense). Munch on fresh seafood delights or enjoy steak or barbecued ribs. Walk off your lunch with a jaunt around the island, taking in the views and the ruins that litter the land.

The island of Jost Van Dyke is the next stop. On this island of just 200 inhabitants, you can take a dip in the sea, lie on the beach, go snorkeling, relax in a hammock or cozy up to a beachside bar for a “painkiller,” the potent local cocktail. There’s also plenty of shopping on the island at various small boutiques.

Jump back on the boat a bit later for the trip back to the US Virgin Islands. Indulge in the open bar with snacks on the boat and toast your traveling companions on a fun day out.

So much fun and crew was great. We have been to St. Thomas/St. Johns and was so glad we ventured out and did this trip. Soggy bar was great.

Lovely water but they took us to Gorda Baths too much hiking and not enough time to enough the water there so you just took a hike then they had you order subpar food from some place they hook up with and it was terrible, when they barely let you hang at the soggy dollar and for what you pay to get into the BVI i would have rather paid to eat and drink at soggy dollar where they tired to then rush you along. So they could have left our the one stop completely. I dont need another gift shop.

Wonderful tour! This was my first time in the US and British Virgin Islands, though my father has been many times. The first stop at Virgin Gordy is breathtaking. There is a hike involved to get to the destination. After, you are brought to a small island with a restaurant. The food was very good and the views were gorgeous. Diamond for snorkeling was just ok. I thought that my experience in Trunk Bay in St. John snorkeling on my own was better than this reef, but still a neat experience. The last spot isThe Soggy Dollar. My dad has entered the island in areas where you hop off the boat and walk through the water. With this tour, you literally jump off the boat in a life jacket and swim ashore. It was raining at this point, so it was on the chilly side once you got to the bar. It was definitely part of the experience though, and a good story to tell! The crew on the boat was amazing. They keep you well fed and on the ride back to St Thomas, they give you unlimited Pain Killers. One of the highlight shows of my trip to The islands,

I would highly recommend this trip. We went on the New Horizons boat with Captain Nick. What a fun day. The Baths were beautiful and even though they were a little crowded, we were able to take our time. Captain Nick gave us a fun history lesson as we walked and had water for everyone. I was worried that flip flops would be a bad choice, but there are many areas that you have to walk through water, so sneakers would have been more of a hassle. Soggy Dollar Beach was awesome. I had heard that customs could be quite a process, but Nick handled the entire process at BVI and he got us back to USVI before the other boats, so we all sailed right through. I am always a little weary about purchasing excursions through a 3rd party, but I'm actually super happy that we did. Our party was able to enjoy Soggy Dollar Beach right away b/c we had prepaid and just had to give Nick our voucher, while others on the bought had to 'settle up'. This was the first time I used Viator we booked 2 excursions for this vacation - both through this site and I will definitely use them for my next vacation.

BEST day EVER with Captains Dave and Brayson. It was truly the perfect day in the Virgin Islands and so very worth the money for an extraordinary experience on the British Virgin Islands. I have never seen water as clear and beautiful as the water at Jost Van Dyke and the Painkillers at the Soggy Dollar Bar were cold and tasty! Snorkeling in Monkey Bay was beyond amazing with fish and squid everywhere in sight! It was a day we will never forget and we can't wait to do it again next year! It will be an annual outing each time we come back to the islands! We stayed at the Frenchman's Reef in St Thomas and this was a very easy day excursion! TIP: BRING CASH! Dave and Brayson were so very entertaining and very informative and after lunch those delicious pain killers kept coming making the drive back home a very relaxing and pleasant! Great time! Great Crew. UNBELIEVABLE beauty.

We sailed over to St John to pick up a couple and then headed over to the British Virgin Islands where we visited The Baths, ate at Marina Bay and snorkled at Diamond reef. Then later headed over to Host van Dyke where we spent about an hour. Beware of hidden fees such as a 75 additional fee for entering the British Virgin Islands which due to my research was hiked up a bit by 5 or 10. But the overall trip and the crew were very informative helpful and made the trip enjoyable.

One of the best ways to see the BVI. Captains Dave and Brayson with a B. were humorous , as well as, informative. They really do enjoy what they are doing and it shows, but beware of the squirt gun!! Breakfast is very continental with muffins, fruit and non-alcoholic beveragealcohol after you snorkel. You really don't want anything heavy to eat on the ride there anyway. Lunch is delicious at Pusser's history and photos very interesting The snorkeling was awesome Diamond Reef for approx. 45 min, the fish were literally at the back of the boat while we were jumping in the water. The Soggy Dollar Bar is the ultimate in BVI beach bars. Unbelievable the number of people at the bar, but drink orders were filled quickly. I have read many comments about how there isn't enough time spent at each stop they are absolutely correct! But in their defense, it just isn't possible in a nine hour tour! Request Dave and Brayson, if you can, the Carolina girls were not disappointed! We will definitely do this again it's worth it!

I LOVED my day yesterday! Dave, Spence, and Dalton were the best crew ever! They were thorough, attentive, and basically waited on us hand and foot. The islands were beautiful and I enjoyed every moment of my day! I plan to take another day trip with this company later this week back to Jost!

If you're spending a few days in St Thomas or St John, this is a perfect way of dipping your toes into the British side. Boat ride legs are easy and pretty short. Hike in Virgin gorda is stunning, and the snorkeling spot is very good. Captain and first mate/lifeguard/bartender are top notch!

Our group of 8 adults had a super time! Captain Dave was incredible, navigating rough waters and windy day. Brad was a great first mate and took care of all 21 guests Brad also guided us through The Baths with a history lesson. Lunch was great. Jost Van Dyke was lots of fun. Highly recommend Breakaway!!

My two kids and I enjoyed the day cruise but wished we could've spent more time swimming at Virgin Gorda. Four destinations plus about 2-3 hours of travel time crammed into a nine hour day was a little too much. Stopping at Marina cay for lunch was unnecessary. I'd prefer to pay a little more for a simple lunch on the boat while snorkeling at Diamond Reef. The time saved from eliminating Marina Cay could then be added to the time available to enjoy Virgin Gorda and Joost van Dyke. Overall, we had a good time and Spencer, Jared, and our Capt. were great.

I would give this adventure 7 stars if it were possible. Dave, Brad and Brayson as our captain and guides were amazing. They were fun, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The Baths were one of the highlights of our trip. My husband had not stop talking about them since we left. The snorkeling was like swimming inside a fish tank. I have been snorkeling before, but I have never enjoyed my experience as much as I did with the tour. IF you want a full day of fun, education and relaxation book this tour. I would go again tomorrow.

NOT a cruise. Small boat. Crowded. Had a very thin slice of muffin as breakfast. Lunch wasn't included. Site for snorkeling could've been better. They also rush a lot. Once you get to the beach, you only get to stay for about 30 minutes. Their equipment isn't completely clean too. So make sure you really look at it before you put it on. There was brown gunk on my mouthpiece. The people who run it though are very nice, just definitely not worth the price they post.

We took BVI tour the first time but this was perfect! I joined with my wife and 13 years old daughter and we have been to beautiful Caribbean day cruises but this was one of the best one. The crew and captain were very nice and the tour consists of hike/beach at the baths, lunch at beautiful Marina cay, snorkel with fishes and living coral reef at Diamond Reef, then finally swim and relax at beech at Jost Van Dyke. We highly recommend the tour for the first timer or coming back to BVI.

Great trip, great people. Make the best of it by meeting fellow travelers. Sit up close to the captain to get even more insights on the many islands you pass by. The staff were all super cool and willing to tell you all about St. Thomas as well as the other islands. Great trip over all.

Tour was great. Was with Captain Jeff, Stewart, and Austin. All three were expert tour guides and hosts. Very knowledgeable of the islands and the history/legends. Took great care of us. Couldn't have asked for better. The Pussers restaurant was a bit disappointing. Was hoping for authentic island food. Got a small jerk chicken wrap that was no more a jerk than my mother-in-law! And the 3 little fish sticks supposed to be fresh and beer battered tasted like Mrs. Paul's. All with a pile of frozen, deep fried French fries. Add two glasses of lemonade and that 47 dollars would have been better spent on alcoholic drinks! Loved the tour. Need to call an ally cat by its name...Pussers is a food dive, but infamous as a sea side bar!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day sail to the BVIs! The captain and his assistant worked hard to be sure everyone was taken care of. I would have liked to spend more time at Jost but certainly understand that time was limited at each location. I would definitely recommend this trip!! Definitely a five star tour.

This cruise was AMAZING! The crew and captain was friendly and accommodating. The weather was perfect. We had the right amount of time on each island we stopped at. The crew ordered our food early so when we docked at the island we ate for lunch, our food was ready for us. It was good too. The last stop was the party island with a bunch of bars. If you have time, check out the tire swing. It was fun! All the beaches we saw were beautiful!! Definitely worth of the money!

Trip leaves a little early (7am) but it and is necessary to get through customs. Captain Nate and Crew Spencer were fantastic. Hike at the Baths is more of a walk (did 75% of it barefoot). It can be crowded there if the cruise ships are docked. Pussers at Marina Cay is so-so. Had a fantastic day!

A few things to consider that are NOT part of the description. 1- the and #34;breakfast and #34; they give you is literally a slice of a muffin and a slice of fruit. We thought it was more so we were starving for a few hours. 2- the time at the Baths is quick. No, you don and #39;t snorkel in the baths like the shown pic.

We had a great time on this day cruise around the Virgin Islands. We had a group of 8. Everyone had a wonderful time. Our crew was the best. Very knowledgeable, courteous and fun. One of the couples in our group forgot there passports at the villa. They waited for them. Would highly recommend this. Boat was also comfortable.

This BVI day boat trip was a fun experience. It gives you just a taste of the BVI and, therefore, time at each destination is VERY limited. Virgin Gorda was amazingly beautiful. However, there was no time to get in the water there and really enjoy the beach so it was very disappointing not to get at least a half hour to an hour to enjoy the beach. The beach there was so beautiful. Lunch at Marina Cay or Key can't remember was good. Again, the beach and water around this small island was amazing and would have loved to have had time to relax on the beach and enjoy the amazing views for an hour. If I could do it again, I would almost skip lunch and just enjoy the beach. Snorkeling was fun. Jost Van Dyke had a beautiful beach. Again, the trip was very good but just be prepared to be on a tight schedule for seeing so much in just one day. And don't be worried about going down to the baths on the walking tour. The way it was described before doing it seemed like it would be very intense and have some very tight places to get through and I wondered if I could do it as I am a bit claustrophobic. However, it was not a problem for me and I really enjoyed it. We all made it fine and there were many different age groups of people. Overall it was a fun experience. I had not snorkeled from a boat for 6 years and did fine. Always takes a bit to get comfortable and calm with breathing so that you are able to relax. And at Jost Van Dyke you have to jump into 10 to 12 feet deep water and swim to shore if you want to get to the beach. We had to wear life jacket. It was a little out of my comfort zone but I did just fine. I saw everyone else doing it and thought I could too and I was right. And there were several people who opted to stay on the boat so that is an option as well.

We had a blast on this day cruise!! There were six of us, I am all about customer service and these guys did a great job! I am so happy we decided to do this and were able to find it on TripAdvisor. We also met a lot of great people who shared the cruise with us. The Baths were out of this world beautiful. The only downside was the restaurant we ate lunch at, the island was amazing but the tip was automatically added to our bill and none of the waitstaff did ANYTHING, everything was done by Brad and Brayson, they should have received the tip instead. The guys delivered meals to everyone's table and were grabbing drinks for people._br/_ If you are looking for a day of beauty and fun please book this, it was awesome!! Great job, Brad, Brayson and Captain Nate!

Absolutely loved this day! It was fast-paced, but that is to be expected when one is going to experience four awesome sites in one trip. The Baths were lovely. Be prepared with what shoes you bring -- it is about 1.5 mile roundtrip hike. I wore my Chacos since they would work both in and out of water, but my feet hadn't developed the necessary callouses yet this season, so I was hurting a little. The path can be tricky on the way down, so they don't recommend anyone with knee/hip problems or recent surgeries to participate. The climb back up wasn't so bad. Lunch was delicious at Pusser's at Marina Cay. Try the bang bang shrimp! Diamond Reef was fun, but a little cloudy since there was a strong current and the water was choppy. Nevertheless, a great experience. Jost van Dyke had a busy spring break crowd, but it was absolutely gorgeous. The current made it a little tricky in getting in and out to the boat, but the guys were there to help on the way back with a rope. The captain was great, music and food and drinks were awesome, and the mates were helpful in explaining different sights along the way. I HIGHLY recommend this trip!

We did the St. Thomas to BVI triplast week, it was amazing and one of the highlights of our trip. We felt a little rushed snorkeling in a gorgeous reef Diamond Reef, we would have liked a bit more time there and 15 minutes less at the Jost Van Dyke. Nate and Austin were awesome and fun throughout the whole day! Highly recommend this excursion.

This was an easy way to get a glimpse of the BVI. There was a lot of time spent sitting in the boat, but we had to in order to see the different sights. The baths were definitely cool, and the Jerk chicken wrap at lunch was delicious! The snorkeling was good not as clear water as other places we went in St. Thomas, but brief. This cruise is great for those who want to see the BVI easily and drink along the way. Our family is a little more adventurous, so it wasn't ideal for us, but still pleasant! We enjoyed swimming through the clear water to the Soggy Dollar. Captain Mike was entertaining, and mates Spencer and Matt were attentive to all the guests. We would like to have learned more while on the tour - there was plenty of time for a brief history lesson on the boat and on the hike - and a suggestion would be to have some tropical reef fish guides so we could identify the fish we saw.

Captain Nate and Brayson were excellent. They made running the boat, keeping track of all 16 of us, and making it all fun seem easy. The Baths were great but a little crowded and fantastic snorkeling at diamond reef -- some of the healthiest coral we have seen in a long time. Jost Van Dyke was mobbed and not a relaxing part of the trip. It was a great day on the water and other than feeling rushed we enjoyed it a lot -- and we live full time on our sailboat!

All in all a very enjoyable day on the beautiful Caribbean. The Baths were absolutely gorgeous and we would have liked to have spent more time there but schedules are tight. Although the sea was somewhat rough that day, the Captain found a nice calm area for us to snorkel and we were not disappointed. We also went to Jost Von Dyke to have a drink at the Soggy Dollar Bar but Spring break crowds forced us to anchor a hundred feet or so from shore necessitating a longer swim to shore and the bar. We enjoyed this trip immensely and the crew were wonderful and had our safety as their top priority. Highly recommended!

Incredible!! The six of us loved this trip. From the moment we set sail the crew was ready for food and drinks. The islands were beautiful and the Baths at Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean is truly picture perfect. The crew was versed and knowledgeable on the various islands. We snorkeled with readily available and clean equipment, exposing our 9 year old to the most amazing sea life she had ever seen. These people are truly gifted in welcoming their guests. Thank you. Highly recommend this cruise!!

Awesome tour! Crew was very attentive and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that it looking to visit a couple of Islands at once. The only this is that Viator needs to update their website on pricing and pickup locations. They state online that the customs fee is 40 a person when in reality it is 45 a person. They also ask you what your Pick-Up location is when they do not do hotel pick ups. You must pay a taxi cab to get to the meeting area. Over all an amazing tour, would absolutely do it again.

This was the best excursion of my week-long trip to St. Thomas. The crew and captain were absolutely amazing, very attentive and personable. The one thing I do need to mention was that there is a small hike down the Baths and back up once you arrive in Virgin Gorda, had I known that I would have worn different shoes and brought a bottle of water or two. Lunch in Marina Cay was great too. The views from the boat were great. Snorkeling was great for the people that went and the stop in Jost Van Dyke was cool just be prepared to swim to shore! My only other tip is be sure to bring cash to tip the crew, they are great and deserve it.
