Taupo's Maori Rock Carvings are possibly the largest of their type in the world and are a must-see attraction, only accessible by boat. We have been offering sailing cruises to these carvings for over 30 years.
Soak up the sun or roll up your sleeves; you can take the wheel, help hoist the sails or just sit back and enjoy the view. You’re guaranteed amazing photo opportunities as you experience one of life’s postcard moments. You can even bring your own food and beverages. Things really couldn’t get more Kiwi.
The boat is equipped for all conditions; if the wind dies down, our eco-friendly electric engine will kick in. When the wind is up, you can enjoy sailing without salty sea-spray and noisy outboard motors. Warm ponchos are supplied.

Well worth making this trip, a very good day out. The lake was spectacular and we got very close to the carvings. The Barbary and her skipper made it a very informative cruise, well worth the money._br/_ Good value.

Our sailor Sarah was super entertaining and highly knowledgable! The carvings were made in the 1970s, but that doesn't make them any less impressive. It's a beautiful ride to the carvings and Sarah made everything super fun.

I probably would have enjoyed this more if the weather had been better. Unfortunately, we ended up getting caught in some rain which, combined with the unexpectedly cold weather, had me cowering under my raincoat-poncho for most of the trip. Although impressive, had I known the rock carvings were actually a modern day creation late 1970s as opposed to an ancient one, I would have probably not have gone for the trip - my fault for not researching the carvings prior.
