Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Tongariro National Park
National Park, New Zealand
Take stand-up paddleboarding to new heights on a 2.5-hour adventure in World Heritage-listed Tongariro National Park. It's a great option for anyone who has hiked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Receive paddling instruction from a guide on the calm waters of Lake Otamangakau and see the region from a different perspective with views second-to-none.
Your 2.5-hour stand-up paddleboard adventure begins at a central meeting point in National Park Village. From there, you will be transferred to Lake Otamangakau, situated in UNESCO-listed Tongariro National Park, which requires a 30-minute drive.
Upon arrival, your 1.5-hour session begins with basic technique instruction; learn to pop up on your board, balance, and paddle-- no experience required. After some practice, venture around the lake with your guide who will be on the water with you at all times. A stand-up paddleboard rental, life jacket, wetsuit, booties, beginner lesson and photos are all included. Be sure to bring shorts or a swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, hat, and some snacks.
After your stand-up paddleboard session, you will be taken back to the departure point.
