Explore the villages and landscapes around Tenerife’s Mt Teide and the Masca valley on a full-day tour! After leaving southern Tenerife, make your way through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Teide National Park where otherworldly volcanic sights abound. Pass through Vilaflor, one of Spain’s highest villages, stop for photos at the island’s famous dragon tree, and then enjoy plenty of free time to explore Garachico and Masca — two gorgeous Canarian villages tucked into the hills.
Leave your southern Tenerife hotel by air-conditioned coach, and travel to Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site that surrounds Mt Teide, a volcano located at the heart of the island. One of Spain’s tallest volcanoes at roughly 12,198 feet (3,718 meters), Mt Teide makes for an impressive visit, and its views over the island are incredible.
Gaze out of the window as you travel through Vilaflor, one of the highest villages in Spain. After traveling through the village’s winding streets, continue through the countryside — a region known for its rugged volcanic landscapes with lunar-like rock formations and sweeping stretches of volcanic soil.
Head through La Orotava Valley and arrive in Icod de los Vinos, home to the island’s legendary dragon tree. While there are many dragon trees in Tenerife, the specimen in Icod de los Vinos is by far the largest — standing at 56 feet (17 meters) high — and also the oldest; many believe that the tree is more than 1,000 years old.
Stop to stretch your legs and pose for photos by the impressive tree, and then continue by coach to visit two villages in the Masca countryside: Garachico and Masca. Partially destroyed by a volcanic eruption in the early 18th century, Garachico is known as one of the best vantage points to see the gorgeous rural landscape that typifies the Masca valley. Likewise, Masca enjoys spectacular scenery with dramatic rock formations and pretty houses stacked into the cliffs. Once a pirates’ hideaway, the village is home to some of Tenerife’s most breathtaking views, so have your camera ready as you explore. Use your free time in both villages to walk around, perhaps enjoy lunch (own expense) and soak up the sights.
In the late afternoon, meet back up with your guide and travel back toward southern Tenerife, through the countryside of Santiago del Teide. If your tour takes place on a Wednesday, enjoy a stop at the Cliffs of Los Gigantes to soak up some more impressive views. Finally, finish your tour with a hotel drop-off in the early evening.
Good overview of Tenerife! The tourguide and bus driver were organized and explained the areas/how long we had at each stop well. I would have enjoyed more time in masca than ~30 min because it is a lovely area. Check to see what time your pickup is before booking - I had a 7 am pickup for a 9 am tour

Antonio was an amazing tour guide and Claudio was one of the best drivers I've ever seen! Pick up was timely and even though we had to change buses everything went smoothly. Tony Antonio gave lots of useful information while speaking in 3 languages! and kept us laughing and engaged the entire time. Claudio had lots of twists and turns, literally, to deal with but he is obviously very experienced and handled everything amazingly. I would definitely recommend this tour.

I thought this trip was good. The guide was entertaining, informative and extremely knowledgeable. The driver clearly knows the mountain roads like the back of his hand. There were a few gasps on the way down from Masca. The only thing I would change is possibly the venue for lunch, it was an average place for a overpriced small chicken dinner. I would have liked less time at the wine tasting and more time at Masca. Myself and my wife enjoyed it all and would happily book with Viator again for our forthcoming holidays.

We LOVED the national park and volcano. It was so cool and like nothing we had ever seen before!! Unfortunately, we had a longer amount of time at our lunch stop than at the volcano. We were only given 45 minutes at the volcano, so we felt rushed and that we couldn't really fully explore because our guide kept talking about lunch the whole time. Would recommend extending the amount of time at Mt. Tiede for future trips.

This is a great trip and good value for money. The views were spectacular and the driving impressive. My only wish would have been for more time off the bus - it was a long day and most of it was spent looking out of the window. Still there was a lot of ground to cover so I am not sure it could all be done in one day. For me Mt Teide was the best part - if I did one thing on Tenerife it would be to go there again.

Can't say enough about this tour. The bus was right on time to pick us up, and they stayed on schedule all day. All the towns we visited on the island were so beautiful and the trip to Masca alone was worth the entire voucher price! Breathtaking!

Outstanding tour. Covered virtually the most interesting sites in Tenerife. Amazingly, Samuel, our guide, narrated in three languages: Spanish, English, and German. The bus was comfortable, and the driver navigated the most narrow of roads with expertise. Excellent value overall.

Amazing trip. Very knowledgeable guide and amazing driver. Very comfortable coach . The national park El Teide is so extraordinary and surprising. You can see amazing volcano landshaft and very strange plants which can't see everywhere. Than we saw The Drago tree a thousand years old tree. And beautiful coast with natural ocean pool. But Masca i will never forget - the smallest, the most beautiful village in the mountain. There you can try ice cream from cactus and even the cake with cactus. i enjoyed every moment from this trip.

I'll preface this by saying I try not to do too many organized tours but the ones I have in the past have always been great, mostly booked with Viator. This tour was through Tenerife Sunshine SL. With that said, 2 of my friends and I took this tour to get to see Teide and get ourselves from the South to the North we had already planned on leaving the tour at the last top in the North. We really did not enjoy this tour for a few reasons. 1 We were given a hotel to be picked up at other than the one we requested no problem but there was no address and we couldn't find it on google. It didn't exist under that name which we found out later. However we were reprimanded for holding up the bus because we were late we had to call the company and take a taxi to another hotel. 2 The tour is given in FIVE languages. So everything bit of information is told 5x. Our guide was less than enthusiastic as well. 3 We were supposed to see the Dragon Tree but didn't and nothing was even mentioned about not going to see it. 4 We had 20 minutes everywhere we went and the stop in Santiago del Teide was only for people to eat at the restaurant which we did not do and no other information was given about the town or what to do/see. So all in all, we were very dissatisfied with the tour. The one good thing was that our driver was very friendly and helpful and we spoke directly with him over the guide. I'm not sure if Viator exclusively uses Tenerife Sunshine SL or if they use several tour companies but this company did not seem to live up to Viator standards.

This was an excellent tour. Just remember that this is not exactly for faint-hearted. The views are gorgeous but climbing the roads in Masca was terrifying! After this you know how great it feels to be alive :D Great thanks to our super bus driver Ricardo! _br/_ Though no meals are not included in the price, you don't have to worry about getting hungry. There is a stop at a family restaurant where you can get a nice meal for very reasonable price local produce, tour special menu. All in all, we got to see a lot of beautiful places and thanks to our lovely guide got to know more about Tenerife._br/_ I only wish that we had more time at the stops, especially at Masca valley. Unfortuantely after trying the cactus ice cream and cactus lemonade that our guide recommended, we didn't have any time for looking around in souvenir shops and take in all the gorgeous views.

Everything was messed up right from the start. First, very bad weather - a rare thing in Tenerife, with heavy rain and extremely strong wind. And it was pretty cold too! Due to the weather conditions, El Teide Teleférico was closed, and most of the route uphill ran through a dense wet fog so nothing could be seen. The bus was old with very uncomfortable seats, the guide could hardly be heard due to his indistinct speech worsened even more by bad speakers inside the bus... Overall, wasted time and money, not recommended.

Be prepared to spend a very long time on the coach. For me the timings of the stops during the tour were not correctly allocated. We had an initial 25 minute stop at a souvenir shop/cafe but only 20 minutes at what should have been the highlight - Mount Teide Las Rocas. Again the stop at Icod de los Vinos was longer than necessary and we were all hanging around waiting and we did not even go to Vilaflor as I had expected to do according to the itinerary. Lunch was very disappointing and expensive. We ordered in advance and were told we could eat and drink as much as we wanted. However, with only 40 minutes allocated and extremely poor and slow service, it was impossible to even finish one serving before it was time to leave. Additionally the quality of the food was poor. Great trip, awesome landscape, scenic route, especially Masca Valley, plus an excellent driver, Damian._br/_ Things to be considered The guide had to give information on 4 languages which was boring- waste of time and noisy for the other tourists. Also, as specified in your offer, we were supposed to go via Vilaflor instead the guide changed the route Guia de isora just for stopping at a gift shop. On the whole I highly recommend this tour !!!

This tour was great. We were impressed that the guide spoke so many languages and the way points were very nice. Where were stars lost? We felt our guide could have done with a bit more energy. Also, our bus broke down, which we understand can happen, and we were stranded for a few hours till our replacement arrived.

Landschap was prachtig. Ik had wel problemen met tijdsindeling. We spendeerden bij de aanvang van de daguitstap eerst 20 minuten in een shop. Toen we bij het hoogtepunt kwamen nl. het park van de Teide, kregen we 10 minuten de tijd om foto's te nemen. Veel te weinig dus. Het bergdorp Masca was dan weer een voltreffer. Daarna nog enkele kleine plaatsjes gedaan. Men zou daar beter in skippen, zodat men meer tijd kan doorbrengen in het nationaal park van de Teide.

This tour was interesting but it is not for those who get motion sick while riding in a vehicle. The top of Mt. Teide was interesting climate/terrain, and the Masca valley was beautiful but the bus ride out of Masca was narrow, very winding, yet I was so glad that I was not attempting to drive it by myself oncoming cars had to back up to let the bus pass on tight curves. The guide was so/so and since he had to commentate in 4 languages there was a lot of talking throughout the ride. The pick up/drop off portion of the trip was quite time consuming.

This was a terrific tour. It took all day and we saw a lot of the countryside of Tenerife. It was interesting to see Las Roquas de Garcia and various other rock formations formed by ancient volcanoes. Our guide, Oliver, had been a guide for 30 years, and what he didn't know wasn't worth knowing! He was excellent. We learned that Canarian bananas are the only bananas to grow upwards, and other facts about native plants. The view of the Masca valley was beautiful, and the winding road upwards was unbelievable. I was very glad I wasn't driving! No time to take the cable car up the volcano, but we knew that, that's why we booked the next tour of Teide National Park unfortunately that didn't either, so that one was disappointing.

I could not find the bus and nobody called may name. There was a huge crowd there and it was very congetsted. Every driver I asked said it was not my bus. I also had not phone number to call to get ahold of a reap person for a situatin like this. II will never use a service like yousr again unless I talk to real person.
The tour itself was fantastic and the guide was so knowledgeable and helpful. We saw so much in just one day. I must pont out that you cannot go on the cable car to the summit of Mt.Teide on this particular trip as there wouldn't be enough time to fit everything else in. If you want to do that you need to book a specific tour. The only negative comment I can make is that despite having printed out an online Voucher when we called the local office to confirm the booking they insisted on us going to their office to pick up their Voucher. This would have been a return trip of 5 euros in each direction. Fortunately they eventually agreed to drop this off at out Hotel Reception. Personally I couldn't see the point of this as we already had our own Voucher for the tour. It was a bit like going back in time and totally unnecessary. It would have eaten into our relaxation, which we both desperately needed. Apart from this clitch the tour was worth every last penny/cent and we certainly wouldn't have missed it.

Highly recommend but do not be mistaken that you can take a trip up the volcano as that does not happen due to time restrictions but apart from that a very enjoyable day. We got to see some brilliant sights what we wouldn't see if we did not do this trip. :)
