Mt Fuji Day Trip including Lake Ashi Sightseeing Cruise from Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

Visit Japan's iconic Mt Fuji, cruise Lake Ashi and ride the Mt Komagatake Ropeway on this popular day trip by deluxe coach from Tokyo. Enjoy sweeping views of celebrated Hakone National Park, and learn about the region with your guide at Mt Fuji's 5th Station. Upgrade to include lunch, or purchase your own. Hotel pickup is included, with drop-off at Odawara, Shinjuku or Ginza stations, where you can continue to explore at your leisure.

Start your full-day trip with morning hotel pickup at selected Tokyo hotels or meet your guide at Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal. Then travel by air-conditioned coach via a scenic 2.5-hour route to Mt Fuji's 5th Station, located 7,607 feet (2,305 meters) above sea level.

The natural beauty of the Japanese landscape will amaze you at your first destination: Mt Fuji. Learn about Mt Fuji through displays and films on the ecology, weather conditions, history and culture around the mountain and the Fuji Five Lakes. Your 20-minute stop includes the second-floor observatory deck, which provides up-close views of the iconic mountain on a clear day.

Return to your coach and continue on to 5th Station, located about halfway up the mountain, for more breathtaking views of the surrounding lakes. You have 30 minutes to explore the souvenir shops, torii gates and shrines that decorate this station, known as the border between the heavens and the earth.

If you’ve opted for an upgrade, savor the views over a Japanese-style lunch, or you can purchase your own food.

With your appetite sated, drive to nearby Lake Ashi, a crater lake formed after a powerful volcanic eruption nearly 3,000 years ago in what is now Hakone National Park. Embark on a 15-minute cruise over Lake Ashi, which provides postcard views of Mt Fuji, Mt Komagatake and other mountains from various angles.

From the lake's shores, take the Mt Komagatake Ropeway to the summit and enjoy scenic vistas over Hakone National Park. For 50 minutes, including time to walk around at the peak, the aerial tram provides sweeping views of majestic Mt Fuji, the Izu Peninsula and the Izu Islands, among other sights.

Your tour concludes with a transfer to Tokyo by coach, dropping you off at Shinjuku or Ginza station in the evening. Take in the great night views and restaurants of upscale Ginza, known as one of the world’s most luxurious shopping districts (Codes: F880_, F880KP_, F880W).

For those not wanting to return to Tokyo, you have the option to end your tour at Odawara station, gateway to Kyoto and other cities connected by shinkansen (Codes: F808, F808W).

This tour also offer a discounted option with pickup at Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku for direct transfer to Mt Fuji without stopping at Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal. This Shinjuku direct departure option allows you to spend more time at Mt Fuji. Please select
"Tour+Lunch+Shinjuku Transfer" (Code: F880KP__) at checkout for this option.

Please note: Views of Mt Fuji are subject to weather conditions, with visibility tending to be better during the colder months, or in the early morning and late evening.

Too much time at the road. We were able to spent just 45 mins at Mont Fuji.

This is a very famous tour in Japan amongst tourguides. It is well organised and the tourguides are awesome. Unfortunately on the day we went it was very busy and very foggy so we didn't really enjoy it that much, but that's got nothing to do with the tour itself, it was just luck of the draw. However, if it was a clear day, it still would've been very rushed just because it takes a long time to get there by bus and there's so many people.

A very exciting day especially when you get that first glimpse of Fuji, she is magnificent, trip is obviously weather dependent so take photos at first opportunity. _br/_ Driver was aware of queuing traffic so took alternative cable car which meant we didnt get to sample the black eggs. Was disappointed at this._br/_ Lunch was taken at a hotel which was of a typical Japanese style and was very good.

Our guide Elie was amazing, She was one of the best we have ever had. However, the trip was much too tiresome. If you take this, I recommend taking the train back to Tokyo as opposed to the 3 hour drive back.

Review by:   Lucia V,    March 2018 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
First of all, the tour was extremely well organized. Everything was right on schedule, we left promptly at the stipulated time and got to Mt. Fuji in the expected arrival time. We could only get to the first station as it was blocked with snow, but that was not an issue. I am not an easy crowd and had high expectations for this. The tour was overal... boring. There is not much to see really. The tour guide, even though he was very sweet, you could tell he was on a script and seemed tired of doing this over and over. There is a bit of a nice view from Hakone, but not the beautiful sights you see online. Lunch place was nice, and again, very well organized. Overall: if you are going there expecting to see the Mt. Fuji that you see in the pictures online, don't.

I am only giving this tour a 3 star rating as we actually did not get to do or see any of the places on this tour due to snow. With it snowing on our tour day, the roads leading to Mt. Fuji was closed. Everything outside was a white out so we couldn't even see Mt. Fuji or see Lake Ashi. The only activity that we did do was the traditional Japanese lunch, which we enjoyed. Our tour guide did his best to find alternative activities for us to do or see. He kept our interest and brought us to the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre info centre for Mt. Fuji, a kimono museum and he also found a gondola that was operational during the snow, so we went up to the top and our guide showed us where Mt. Fuji would be if the skies were clear. Overall, an OK tour, a bit disappointed not to have seen what the tour was suppose to show, but what can you do when Mother Nature decides to sprinkle alot of snow?

It was so easy to meet up at the bus station and head off to Mt. Fuji for the 2 hour ride. On the ride the tour guide gave us lots of information that we would never have known. The day was also beautiful, which topped it all of and the view from the top of the gondola was spectacular.

This tour was fantastic! Although a little rushed, it was a great way to visit Mt Fuji and Mt Hakone. Our tour guide was fantastic and very entertaining. I would highly recommend taking the lunch option with the tour. The food was amazing.

Great tour except for the guide NANA who never stopped talking. Far too much information and she carried on when most of the coach was asleep.

Review by:   Courtney M,    March 2018 Review: 1 star rating: I do not recommend this
I would not choose this trip as the tour guide spoke more about Mt. Fuji than we actually saw. The best views were from locations along the way, from the window of the bus. Once we got closer to Mt. Fuji it could not be seen due to weather. If the weather is poor close to the volcano, the tour should stop the bus at various locations further away to actually get good pictures. There were no views at 5th station and we thought while eating lunch we would be able to have a view of Mt. Fuji, but could not even see if from our location. There were also no views of Mt. Fuji from the cruise which was not really a cruise but required transportation to get to the gondolas. Finally, due to weather, there were no views at the top of the ropeway due to weather, and we stayed on top outside for 15 minutes and headed down. That part was a complete waste of time because we were in a cloud. Again, the only views and pictures I got out of the tour were from a moving bus. I wish the bus had stopped and allowed us to take pictures when we could because there was no opportunity at the actual tour destinations. Very disappointing.

Good tour to see Mt Fuji! The 5th station is not really worth seeing - the scenery is not anything spectacular, it's a typical mountain view, and you can see much better in the Alps, Colorado or other mountainous areas. The boat trip was short - only 15 minutes - and then we rode up the cable car to a nearby mountain which had great views of Mt Fuji, but the wind was unbearable! It would have been nicer to have stopped somewhere else, at ground level, to take pictures with Fuji. All in all, I think we spent a lot of time in the bus, and not so much touring, but it's understandable considering the distances and the ridiculous traffic on the way back. The highlight of the trip was our guide, Kanae! She was very friendly and informative, answered all our questions, explained more about Japanese culture, so the time on the bus flew by. She is one of the best tourguides I have encountered!

The tour was excellent. Our bus pick up at the Tokyo Dome hotel bell desk was on time. The transfer to the actual tour bus had a misunderstanding. Our file said that my wife and I are to return to Tokyo via public transit. But we wanted a round trip by bus back to Shinjuku station. That was quickly corrected to our satisfaction. Tour guide Take was very informative and humourous. The tour had a good pace. There was enough time to sight see, explore, and have lunch. My wife and I were very impressed with the pre-selected lunch at the hotel in Hakone. They returned us to Shinjuku station at 8 p.m. as promised. Very friendly and fun tour! Highly recommended.

Very well organized day trip with lots of beautiful sightseeing. Guide was very friendly, informative and fluent English speaker. Lunch included was also amazing. If i have to point out one downside it’s that, due to the many sights visited in one day, there was limited time to enjoy each one.

The day was forecasted to be sunny and aboard our bus to Mt. Fuji, we can see the majestic mountain along the way, only to arrive on the 4th station overcast by clouds. How quickly the weather changed. After our lunch, we headed to Lake Ashi and did the Ropeway but it was a bit late in the afternoon already so everything was almost dark and foggy when we got to the Ropeway at 4:10 in the afternoon. Sun sets at 4:30 more or less so we didnt see much but fog.

Excellent guide and tour. Weather is a major factor with this tour, so pick the best weather day possible. I highly recommend. Some will say they want more time, but it’s really not possible on a day trip. Wifi on the bus was excellent. Enjoy!

The tour was fine but unfortunately I hit a period where it had rained for a number of days straight, thus it was overcast and cold and Mt Fuji was not visible during my entire stay in Japan which from what I have heard isn't unusual. Given that, it would have been nice if the tour bus had made a few short stops along the way for us to see some other sights that were visible.

My wife and I really enjoyed our day trip to Mt. Fuji. Our guide Mika was terrific as was her co-guide/trainee. Of course the highlight of the trip was actually seeing the top of Mt. Fuji when the clouds broke for just a few minutes. Our guide was quick to ask the driver to pull the bus over immediately not a planned stop so we could all get a few pictures, which we did. Another pleasant surprise was the small lakeside stop we made for lunch. This prior to our visit to Lake Ashi. The town was very picturesque and had lots of little shops to browse through after lunch.

Unfortunately for us, the day we visited Mt Fuji, it was covered in cloud, but we still had a great time. Our guide Uki Ko Snow Child was great fun and really informative. Along the bus trip , she taught us useful Japanese sayings and interesting information about Japan. The best part of her information, was the hand drawn diagrams of our route etc, they were so cute and charming. We visited the fifth station and had a good break to look around. We had an awesome lunch , which was delicious. The Lake Ashi boat trip was brief ,but pretty. We took the ropeway to gain a view of Mt Fuji, I expect that this would be impressive on a non cloudy day .
