Nobody knows a neighborhood like a local and nobody knows food like a chef. Enjoy a dinner with Chef Scott as you eat and drink your way through his home neighborhood. Taste authentic Italian dishes from Sicily to Calabria. Discover a restaurant started 5 years ago by an 86-year-old Italian nonna, and visit small, family-owned places that make everything from scratch. These local places use the freshest of ingredients and tons of love. That's right folks, Chef Scott, founder and chief eating officer, will take you to all his favorite places - the places he eats when he is not guiding tours. This is the real chef's tour of Little Italy. Be treated like a VIP and friend as you visit 3 restaurants, sample 12 dishes, and pair them with some of Chef Scott's favorite wines.
A Toronto Food Tours uniformed guide will be waiting for you when you arrive at the south-west corner of College and Grace Street, located next to the statue of the "King of College", Johnny Lombardii. After a short Toronto history lesson, you'll head off to a small Sicilian inspired family restaurant that serves the best meatballs in the city!
Then it is off to one of Chef Scott's favorite places before stopping at a chic Calabrian style family owned eatery. With the help of their dad, brothers Johnny and Pino have been curing housemade charcuterie for over 25 years - all under the watchful eye of their mother who is also the restaurant's head chef.
Along the way, you will see the Italian Walk of Fame, the last independently owned movie theater in the city and where the founder of the Toronto Symphany Orchestra lived as a child. You will hear tales of the areas storied past and long lost connection to the underworld.
Each of the restaurants has been hand selected by founder and Chief Eating Officer, Chef Scott. These are the local restaurants that he eats at regularly living in the neighborhood. During the evening, you will taste a total of 12 different dishes served family style and paired with some of chefs favorite wines. To end your evening, you'll visit Toronto's Oldest Gelateria, for some delicious gelato to satisfy your sweet tooth. Tour runs approximately 4 hours.
