Valencia Shore Excursion: Valencia Hop-On Hop-Off Tour

Valencia, Spain

While you’re in port in Valencia, explore the city with a 24-hour ticket aboard a hop-on hop-off bus tour. On this shore excursion, create your own itinerary as you travel around Valencia in an open-top, double-decker bus, hopping off whenever you’d like to see all the main sights, such as the City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias), the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Silk Exchange (La Lonja) and the Congress Palace (Palacio de Congresos).

Located on Spain’s Mediterranean coastline, Valencia is a beautiful modern city with a rich Roman and Gothic history. When you arrive in the Valencia port, explore the city at your own pace on a hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus tour! Travel between the two routes on an open-top, double-decker bus, hopping on and off wherever you want. This sightseeing shore excursion provides you with 17 convenient stops around town so you can see attractions like the Cathedral of Valencia or San Pio V Palace.

See the Silk Exchange, one of the best-preserved examples of late Gothic architecture in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Quart Towers and the Serrano Towers, Valencia’s old city gates. See the futuristic-style football stadium Nou Mestalla, or visit Valencia’s zoo, Bioparc.

Both routes each take approximately 1.5 hours. The buses depart every 20 to 30 minutes from each stop – the closest stop to the cruise port is Stop 7, El Puerto. Tickets are valid for 24 hours from first use.

The Tourist Red Bus is one of the best ways to see the town and get off at any attraction where they stop. They are a little slower than other cities that I have been in Europe but it is not that bad.

Very good excusion, however, locating the initial bus stop was a problem allot time wasted, suggestion since most persons have google maps is to have waypoints or markers appear, or when printed tickets on printer at house provide the great maps you hand out so people can see from a birds eye view of the stops, and intersecting streets to make it easier on persons trying to locate your buses.

Buses older then previous cities visited. Be careful to note which line - red or blue - you are riding. Beautiful city with both old and new architecture. Driver on red line exceptionally helpful. Inexpensice way to have city overview.

Very nice tour. Quick as Valencia is not that big but a great start to visiting this beautiful city.

This was a waste of our time and money. We tried several busses and none of them had sound systems that were clear. The words were garbled and not enough volume to even hear the garbled words. After 3 busses, we got off, wandered on our own, and took a taxi back to the ship.

Not much of a loop. Would have been better to take a taxi to the city center (which we had to do anyway since the port bus stop isn't as near the cruise ship as the tour write up made it out to be) and stay/walk around that area.

Thoroughly enjoyed the hop on hop off tour. Great way to get an overview of the city and then go back to your favorite places. We would recommend it to anyone going to Valancia.

Unfortunately this tour was very disappointing but not because of Viator. We had two families surrounding us on top deck who were so loud we could not hear anything from our earbuds. We chose the historical part of the city which is so beautiful.

Enjoyed the tour and it was convenient to the ship.I was there more than 30 years ago and did not recognize much. Time changes things for sure.

Bought this ticket online and went to the allotted stop 1 to collect a map. We joined a que of about 50 here. Even though there is a ticket seller at this location madly selling tickets, nobody thought to tell us all that because of some special event stops 1 and 2 were not operating. Eventually after 45 mins of waiting, some more than an hour somebody came and said matter of factly that atop one and two were not operating. We had to walk back to stop 3 which was on the opposite side of the river bed. Suffice to say many upset travellers who like us did not end up getting onto a bus until after noon. Wasting a good bit of the day. A simple sign at the stop would have helped and saved a good deal of angst.

Great way to get around and really good if you don't know the town. We got on by the port actually found stop 9 on the blue line to be the closest for us from the pier then went out to the city of the arts and was amazed at the sights there. Rode the blue line only as time was limited...takes about 1.5 hours if you don't get off...and learned a lot about the city that way. Easy, cheap way to get around.

First I got got seriously flawed directions both from the Viator confirmation and the port information desk, on where the trip would start and where to find the bus. It could have been 10 minutes from the ship, if everyone had sent me in the right dir cation if there had been good signage and then if the information center people said mo than,oh, just go over there by the palm trees, you'all see it ..no I did not see a sign, a placard, a bus sign, nothing...walked the to City Center....same thing....so I lost an hour and a half trying to find the bus to get on, thus could not even finish the two bus excursions offered as I had to get back to the ship. Very disappointing as Valencia was my main reason for taking the trip :

No sign to direct passengers from the cruise ship to the nearest bus stop to board the hop on hop off bus._br/_ It took us quite a while to find the bus stop even after asking locals. Bus was not on-time.

Review by:   Elizabeth L,    January 2017 Review: 3 star rating: Worth doing
It was difficult to find the stop close to the cruise port as it was a 10 minute walk, down a side street, not well marked and a different number to the one one information sheet. Although the info says that it starts at 9:30am, the first bus doesn't make it to the cruise stop for over an hour. We ended up catching a local bus to the centre of town and starting from there. It might be helpful if you have this tour as a shopper excursion to include the timetable and the street name for the stop.

We took this excursion while in port on a cruise. There was no agent at the port to direct us where to go as there was in other ports. Directions on the voucher said the bus stop was across from the port? After walking around looking and not finding where we were supposed to go we jumped in a cab that took us to city center so we could get on the bus there. Upon returning to the port we found it was down the street, up another street and around another corner. NEED BETTER DIRECTIONS! Buses were very full so we just stayed on for the full loops. Still a good way to see the city but needs some work.

Valencia is HUGE and this tour seems to cover most of it. If you want an overview, it takes two-plus hours to do just one of two circuitous routes if you don't get off. There are too few buses and stops, making Hopping Off less-desirable. We found this tour cut into the time we had hoped to visit targeted areas and museums.

A little bit of difficulty finding the Bus stop at first but there are 2 routes which can be used - Historic and Maritime Valencia - both regular services and meet in centre . we enjoyed experience gave a good view of the City and its surroundings with useful commentary .

Valencia is the most beautiful and interesting city, with wide, leafy avenues and very clean!_br/_ Bust tour is great! Long tour full of clear and interesting information about the city and so worth the money._br/_ Additional plus would be the provision of 'over ear' headphones for use by passengers wearing hearing aid._br/_ This is a 'must do' tour for anyone visiting Valencia and who doesn't have a lot of time to see the main sites.

You can't go wrong with a Hop-on Hop-off bus tour in any city. This is a great way to get a feel for the city and decide where you want to concentrate your touring. The audio with the tour is very informative and you have a choice of 6 to 9 different languages to choose from. If you plan of taking pictures from the bus you will want to be on the top level open air, if it isn't raining. You will want to get in line early to get a good spot on the bus, as they fill up quickly. We hopped off at the City of Arts and Sciences and all I can say is WOW! This place is amazing. Allow at least 1 or 2 hours to go here. If you are a photographer you could spend the entire day here. There is way too much to see in Valencia to possibly see it in one day. It is a beautiful city and well worth spending several days there to see/do what you want .

This tour bus was quite disappointing from the very start. We wanted to join the bus at the sea port (stop 9 on the map) but it took us 1½hours from leaving the ship to finding the bus stop/ this was due to us arriving at the western dock (Assess?) and not seeing any direction signs or street names. Then when we eventually got on a bus the window rattled so loudly all the time that we had difficulty hearing the commentary and during the whole trip the audio recording frequently lost synchronisation with the actual view/places. Poor maintenance in my opinion. We only took the one routes and could not wait to get back to the ship. Sorry that I cannot be more praiseworthy but a nice city for what it is worth and I bought the DVD which was also very nice.

Not a favorite, busses were very crowded, didn't see much of the city sitting down below, and could never get a seat on top.

The bus station is near to the port and the red line was just perfect! But the red and blue lines has to be in connection at stop 1 ,because it's the easiest way for tourists to change the line without to lost the time in waiting for bus from another line.

The bus and the earphones were good however, the tour was very surface and the length of the tours were such that it would take the whole day so you really couldn't hop off and make it to the ship in time. Also it was not clear were the bus picked you up at the port. If there were not other people waiting for the bus we wouldn't have known where to get it.

Used Hop-On Hop-Off Tour as a cruise shore excursion. It is a good and effective way to see the main sights of Valencia during a short visit. The port stop is number 9 and not 7 as detailed on the Viator website. The best way to find the port stop is to obtain information at the main cruise port terminal information desk (a free shuttle bus was provided by Valencia port, transferring passengers from our MSC cruise ship to the main cruise port terminal). Stop 9 is a 10 minute walk from the main cruise port terminal and fairly easy to find once the information desk has explained how to get there (they can also provide you with the Hop On Hop Off tour maps and city maps for Valencia).
