The hop on hop off bus in Malta was good, but there was a lot of time where we just listened to music rather than the history of the area. We would have appreciated more information and less music. The music was very enjoyable though.

Overall, a good way to see Malta, but from reading the description of the bus routes, we were under the impression we would be able to see more than we actually could given our time constraints. Additionally, it's only because we happen to stop to ask a question of a person selling the tour on land did we find out that we needed to turn in our voucher for actual bus tickets. So, not a bad tour, but the description and instructions could use a little tweaking.

This was not what we expected. We got on the first bus that was a little ways from the cruise port. We found out on the ship their were two different hop on hop off companies. One Malta City seemed to be sanctioned by the ship, and then ours. We got to the first stop fine, which was Mdina, and spent about an hour. Waited for next bus, it was about 20 minutes late, couldnt get on as it was full. Then had to wait another 45 minutes for bus. After getting on driver said it would take over 2 hours to get back to, so we just stayed on, worried if we got off, we wouldnt get back on time to ship. Got to see a lot of the country due to so much driving, but wouldnt to again.

W have used the hop on hop off tours in different countries. All prior tours have been fantastic. This one by far was the most disorganized. Here are some constructive comments. There are two bus companies I cannot figure out why both companies have to share one bus stop. If only you can imagine the commotion with hundreds of people off a ship, shoving and pushing trying to create new lines.. There is not enough time to do both routes if you come off the ship, wait in line, and do the blue route first. The bus says no standing passengers but there were at least 15 passengers standing. This does wonders for the view, correct?. Viator, this is not a reflection on your company. It reflects on the Hop on Hop off tours in general. This is not doing much for Malta's tourism, sadly to say._br/_ I strongly suggest you delist this tour, going forward until the HOHO service has been addressed._br/_ William

Normal Hop-on Hop-off service with far too many people around. Never buy these kind of tickets through Viator or similar agents, because it doesn't give you any preferences when you arrive. We came with a cruise ship and the idea with the Hop-on Hop-off busses are brilliant, but there is absolutely no reason to pay the tickets in advance.

Very disappointing. They gave us the wrong maps and did not have the correct ones and could not tell us anything about the stops so we did not where to get off. A total waste of money and time.

The buses were old and rickety. The first bus we were on had a big gash in a tire--at one point the driver had to stop at the side of the road and check the tire. There was no announcement at stops as to which one it was--we couldn't tell if we were stopping to check the terrible bus or if it was a legitimate stop. There were extremely long waits for the next bus to come along. Very disappointing.

The Hop on bus was waiting when we disembarked our cruise ship. I was surprised first by how dirty the bus was - upstairs and down. Layers of dirt and grime on the seats and floor. Windows were smeared and dirty. Figured we were only going to be on briefly, so went along, but there really wasn't anyplace to stop until we reached Mdina, about 20-30 minutes away. We also ended up sitting on the bus waiting to leave for 20-30 minutes. We got back on the bus to return - again no real place to hop off. This wasn't what we expected and was a disappointment.

We did the blue tour on a Saturday with two cruise ships in port. It was hopeless because of the traffic. We got an hour behind which we made up by not stopping at designated stops. This was not a problem as we just wanted the tour to end. Must be better on a week day? We did not bother with red/gold options. Very disappointing and a waste of time.

The guy in charge of the buses had the routes changed without notice. We were told that the red bus was on it's way being about 20 minutes away and we had to wait 20 minutes plus at least another half hour. That bus broke down about a quarter of the way around the route and then we had to wait another almost an hour for the replacement bus to arrive. We travelled to the blue grotto which is about half the way thru' the route and then the bus driver came upstairs and told us that anyone wanting to see a certain place should alight here and wait for the next bus which would be along soon. Before we really had time to assess what he said he made another suggestion and that was to stay on the bus and go back to Valletta, stating that this was an extra bus after all. He then hopped back behind the wheel and took us straight back to Valletta retracing the route we'd already taken so we didn't see the other half of the red route at all. This left us with insufficient time to travel another route before we had to be back on board ship. Consequently we left Malta with at least half of the island unexplored. VERY UNSATISFYING. I definitely couldn't recommend this tour._br/_ y

When we got off the ship in Malta we were directed to a location to pick up the hop on hop off bus. We asked to go on either the red or blue route and were told they started later, so they put us on the yellow route which we didn't even know existed, One of the stops we wanted to see was the Cathedral and walled city of Mdina. We got there just fine and were told we could catch the blue route from there at 10:30. 4 more yellow route buses came by and at 11:00 still no blue route bus. All we kept hearing is it's coming. We finally gave up and took the yellow bus route back to the original spot of pick up. That took almost 1 1/2 hours due to Saturday traffic. When we did finally get to our original pick up location, we were told the red bus would be by at 130 and it was a 3 hour trip. That is 3 hours if we do not get off the bus. We never got to take it or the blue route due to the time we had to be back on the ship. The only highlight was Mdina was spectacular

Beautiful views, rough tour guides/drivers. Not helpful when asking questions which is important when using this on a shore excursion and time is a factor. Missed a few sites due to not having enough information. Driver argued with Italian tourist that granted were argumentative, and hostile - instead of arguing with them just don't let them on the bus. Almost scary. Would recommend hiring a private car for a tour instead. Buses extremely dirty...never again!

Extremely unreliable, awful driving and bad routes. DO NOT USE !!! There is another smaller, local hop-on hop-off Malta Excursions, which seemed to run more frequently and have better stops.

We arrived in Malta on a cruise ship. The hop on/hop off tour had a bus stop within easy walking distance of the cruise port. The bus was clean, well driven, and took us on an above average tour. We were very satisfied. The tour was a good value.

Bus takes you to the sights but be warned about the drivers, ours made 2 calls and one text whilst driving! Reported this to another rep for the company and he just shrugged his shoulders. Buses were not on time and did not stop at all the scheduled stops on the orange route!

Awful because they did not have enough buses on to handle the crowds nor did they line up people. Masses of rude people shoved and pushed my husband and me out of the way. We actually had to wait for another bus when we were there first! NEVER AGAIN. Very poorly managed!!

The northern route started off very interesting with the 1st stop in Mdina, then the craft village. We got off at both stops. After that it was a really long trip around the coast with lots of huge tourist hotels and apartments. Not so interesting. We joined the South route afterwards and it was really interesting. Would recommend only doing the south route although you would miss Mdina.

Mdina is a gem. Valetta is a must see. Need to have more buses. There are more paying passenger than bus. The audio jacks were tampered and we could not hear anything.

This Hop On Hop Off option worked out very well for us in other cities._br/_ But in Malta it was just awful. We pre-paid online - 23 per person. Upon arrival the same trip was offered for 10 per person at the cruise port._br/_ The buses take a LONG time to get to the first stop, so there is also a massive line of people waiting to get on._br/_ On our bus the audio system wasn't working, so we didn't even know where we were going. The driver stopped twice to try and fix it and then he just gave up._br/_ Maybe he needed to make up time, but he was driving REALLY fast so everyone was hanging on to their seats. When we reached the Blue Grotto we just got off and took a taxi back to the ship. We saw and heard very little of Malta.

Great tour, you are able to see all the major spots. The only downfall was our bus broke down and we had to wait about 20 minutes for another one. Other than that, its a great way to see Malta!

If I could give this a negative rating I would. The information provided by the staff was not accurate or correct on the routes. Pick ups were not every 1/2 hour and when they did come no one would get off because they were scared they could not get back on. the driver took many smoke breaks, did not stop at all identified stops, picked up female friends and dropped them were they wanted. Actual fight between driver and people wanting to get on at one stop. Got back to the cruise port and hired a cab for the remainder of the day to get to the sites we wanted to see. Last time I will ever use in Greece not much better

Unfortunately there was route trouble the day we poeted in Malta and the service was very poor._br/_ If you have plans to go to specific places in Malta do not do the yellow tour - it just delays you in doing what you want. It is such a beautiful island and is a shame to miss out on sights you want to see. luckily we were able to get to the Blue grotto but because of the delays in transportation we had very little time in Valetta

The drivers were rude. The buses were dirty. They didn't follow the route and skipped multiple stops. We encountered the bus drivers yelling at customers. We have used city sightseeing in other counties and was good, but THIS tour in Malta was awful.
