This is a trip for people who love crab and have always wanted to catch their own lunch. This experience includes a crab lunch on the beach and crab casting instruction. Fishing is from the docks using casting traps. Your fishing guide and chef will teach you how and where to catch the tastiest BC Dungeness crab, and how to prepare your catch and cook it West Coast style.
Your fishing guide will meet you on the pier at the Jericho Sailing Center, about 10 or 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Your guide will first teach how to cast for crab from the dock, how to identify male and female crabs, and what times are best to catch the fattest crab, as well as teach you about different types of BC crab and their ecology.
After fishing for 1.5 hours from the dock, head back to the beach to prepare your catch. Your chef for the day will teach you how to cook West Coast–style crab and then serve you a fresh lunch or dinner depending on the tour time. You also have the option to bring your own lunch and take your catches home instead.
Most fun ever! Beautiful weather, perfect sunset, terrific host, Kyle. We caught so many crabs. We could only keep and eat two, but we caught bunches. The dinner was so good, salad, flavored tea, strawberries and crab. It was the the best.
