Vancouver City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

Vancouver, Canada

Get to know the vibrant city of Vancouver aboard an open-top bus on this hop-on hop-off tour. With the option of a 48-hour or 24-hour sightseeing pass, you get to create your own itinerary and set your own timetable. Hop off at any of the 24 stops, which includes major attractions such as Chinatown, Stanley Park and Gastown, and explore historical landmarks, eat at trendy eateries and shop along Robson Street. After sightseeing, hop off and join the locals at English Bay Beach.

Start your hop-on hop-off tour in Gastown near the Steam Clock, or at any of the other 22 stops on the route. As the open-top clear convertible bus transports you around town, hop on and off as many times as you like to see the best of Vancouver at your own pace (full tour duration without stops is 90 minutes). Your 24-hour or 48-hour sightseeing pass is valid within a two-week period, with buses departing every 15 to 20 minutes during peak season (May 1 – October 10) and every 60 minutes during the off-season (October 11 – April 30).

Admire the white sails of Canada Place, a convention center built for Expo ’86, and then take time to discover Stanley Park, bounded on three sides by water. From Prospect Point, the park’s highest point, snap memorable shots of the Cascade Mountains and the Lions Gate Bridge. At Brockton Point, gaze at the exquisitely carved First Nation totem poles, the most visited monuments in British Columbia. Or, hop off at a spot in the park offering rides by horse-drawn carriage.

In need of retail therapy? Get off at Robson Street, which has everything from big-brand stores to indie boutiques. When you want to grab a bite to eat, the dizzying array of food stalls at Granville Island’s Public Market is sure to satisfy your cravings.

Take a break from sightseeing and enjoy an afternoon on the beach. The bus stops at Stanley Park’s Second Beach, which boasts an outdoor pool in addition to fantastic views along the park’s Seawall. Or, lounge on English Bay Beach, the most popular stretch of sand in the coastal seaport city.

The buses that played the recorded script were lame. The drivers that actually spoke were much better. We were told that the last bus through Stanley Park was at 5:30 pm. The last bus was actually around 4:00 pm so we had to take a taxi back to our hotel. It is convenient to get from point A to point B, but you get very little information about Vancouver.

The tour around was at a pace that not give a good view of sights on the route, not ideal for photo shots on the blue bus with plastic windows, red trolley bus is better choice with good viewing windows.

We arrived on a repositioning 1 night cruise with a major cruise line from Seattle. The bus picked us up at the terminal on it's normal stop. We toured most of the city. A must see is Granville Public Market. The view across the water and the marina is awesome. Every kind of food is available and it is a great place for people watching. We picked up from there on the bus that comes by every 15 minutes and got off in China Town which was close to the Pacific Central train station to return to Seattle. A remarkably pleasant day, with a summarized tour of Vancouver.

It was a long day trip by coach/ferry to Victoria. I would look into other options in the future, for a day trip.

This is a really good way to see Vancouver especially if you have limited time. However, the buses we had weren't particularly comfortable but not sure if these are the ones usually used as the day after we saw better buses being used._br/_ We were disappointed to have to wait about 30 mins for a bus at one point which put us off getting off again in case it was a long wait for the next bus! On a couple of occasions, we would wait and then 2 buses would arrive together. Delays were caused by bad traffic not their fault! and by people paying as they got on. On one stop 4 ladies got on - they all wanted to pay individually in cash and the driver didn't have change. That meant we were waiting around 10 minutes for them to sort it all out! I would suggest not being able to pay on the door but only by pre-paid ticket or voucher which would speed things up for people already on the bus.

Great way to get around the city. Inconsistencies in the comfort of the bus, the audio and the level of expertise of the drivers.

Even though it was raining the company provided a canopy to enable everyone to keep dry unlike some other companies worldwide. The ticket was for 24 hours so enabled us to use it the next day up until expiry which was a bonus and a bonus ferry ride to Granville market was useful. All in all excellent value.

It was okay, I felt sorry for the people that was not pickup because of full buses. The driver keeping talking its almost his lunch hour. We had a 2 day Hop on but was not able to do the 2nd day because of rain and cold.

We really enjoyed this tour. It brought us to places that our feet could not take us in a day for sure. We got off at the Granville Market and Gastown to name a few. The driver was great, the narrative very interesting. Price was good thru Viator. We always enjoy taking Hop On and Off Tours when visiting places for the first time. You get to see what you otherwise would not have time to see or see things you would like to go back too. So its a good tour to take upfront on your vacation.

I do a lot of solo travel and often try to do a Hop On/Hop Off tour on my first full day in a new city to get the lay of the land. This tour did not disappoint. I caught one of the first buses out of Canada Place and hopped off on the first stop in Stanley Park to wander through the park and visit the Aquarium. I had to wait a little while for the aquarium to open, but it was well worth the wait! I then walked to the Totem Poles and caught the bus at the next stop. I then rode to a point where I could catch the ferry to Granville Island your Hop ON/OFF ticket includes a one way fare. Explored the island for a bit before catching the bus and moving on. Next stop was Chinatown, then Gastown. All in all I maximized the day to figure out where I wanted to revisit later during my short stay. All of the tour guides were helpful and well worth the ticket price.

This was a great way to explore the city, and gives you the opportunity to be flexible. I hopped off in Stanley Park and walked to the Totem Poles then on again to the stop near where you could see the Lion's Gate Bridge. I then walked down the hill and later along the bay and up to the laughing men. All very manageable. When I got back to Gastown I realised that the street at the end was Richards Street, where my hotel was so I walked back there as well. Once you get your bearings in Vancouver it is easy to get around and tourist spots well within walking distance.

Good way to get to various points of interest in Vancouver._br/_ Bus was old._br/_ The driver was friendly but very hard to understand what he was saying as we approached each bus stop due to English not being his first language.

Although the tour and narration on this tour was good, they sold way too many tickets. We were there on a port call, and there were hundreds of people waiting in line just to get on a bus. We did get off at one stop, and we were never able to get back on another bus. We watched as the next two buses went by completely full, and ended up walking back to the ship.

The tour took us around town and we were given a lot of information about the city, the harbor, the commerce and the history. However, many of the stops offered no seats or benches to use while waiting for the next bus. At times there were not enough seats on the bus to accommodate the waiting passengers so other buses needed to be put into service.

Good way to see the main attractions but we did struggle locating some of the stops and people that we asked in shops etc had no idea either. We did the round trip on our first day and decided where we wanted to go after than. We hopped on and off a few times in Stanley Park which was handy as the park is large and there would have been a lot of walking involved. The information given on the bus was good and interesting. Definitely worth doing, even if you only get a day pass its a good opportunity to see what is on offer.

Only had to wait the usual 20 minutes for the next bus when we needed to see the next stops. At one of the stops where we had a large crowd the agent at the stop made a call to get an empty bus which came at a decent time so we could finish the tour.

Loved Vancouver so decided to do this. Bus was late in arriving and as I remember was an open single decker bus with a cage over the top, not good for taking photos. Took us all over the city, very informative. We got off in Granville Market for lunch, then back on another bus. We eventually got off at the place where the cruise liners depart and walked back to our apartment

The sights were great but we waited over 50 minutes for a seat on a bus. Two went by full then we had to wait 30 plus minutes for another one. The company should have sent a bus to the places where there were huge lines at least 40 at the Markets. Product doesn't live up to its description.

Wonderful tour of Vancouver. Have been on other hop one-off tours here which weren't as good. It would have been nice to allow a 5 min stop for photographs within Stanley park. Beautiful park- would get off bus for a stroll along the water next time._br/_ The Granville island stop is a must. Fun place to sit outside and people watch and experience the market. Great food._br/_ Only way to see the different sections of this diverse city.

I took my grandson , age 13. It was a great way for him to learn a little more about this city he was born in. We like the totally OPEN air bus. I guess the one thing that was a bit annoying was when a couple would split up....ie, both took a window seat... I made it unfair for other couples to sit together ..... I suppose there is not much you can do about that... there are selfish people no matter where you go!_br/_ Thanks for the experience !

24 stops provided a great insight into the Vancouver city. Stanley park was terrific and a must stop to investigate the park. Downtown market was a must see with great shops and vendors. The steam clock should not be missed. Stopping for the totem poles and strolling the coastline from one bus stop to another provides great views of the city skyline. Way too many people at Canada place caused long delays in returning to the bus after exiting. Would have been advisable to increase the number of buses to eliminate the complaints and frustration. Unfortunately, not all bus drivers provided commentary along the route. One bus driver provided excellent commentary from a local point of view. One other driver said nothing the entire trip. Another did not speak clear english and was difficult to understand. We decided to ride the route entirely before determining where to exit and investigate. I would recommend this approach to any newcomers to Vancouver. Overall, a great ride to be recommended.

The first bus we were on, they did not give you new ear phones, they were used and all tangled up, you had to untangle them if you wanted to wear ear phones that someone else had had in their ears. Disgusting, and I have been on lots of hop on hop off buses in other countries, like Portugal, Italy and England and never had second hand ear phones.

The ad in Viator is very deceiving. We chose them because they show a picture of a bus with no top. It is completely open in the ad.. The bus here in Vancouver is not. Which again I think is very deceiving on Viators part.

this was one of the worst tours I have ever done. the tour guide was the driver playing recorded history about the sights that we passed. you have no time to get off and get back on the bus. it is truly a hop on hop off bus. however at this time of year, there was one bus running and it was an hour wait for the next time around. Huge waste of money. the bus itself is not heated. it was -5 degrees outstide and the buses are set up for summer, not even proper windows. The bus was freezing inside. No one should ever do this trip. there are other companies Big Bus etc who would do a better job. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. TERRIBLE TOUR.

we found this trip to be very informative, the guides certainly new their topic and added in extra detail. Our 2 days were on the summer winter change over which put the bus frequency to 30 minutes instead of 20 minutes and with an earlier finish time in the afternoon but still not a problem

This is a good way to get your bearings and get about the city. It is also good that a lot of the stops are at hotels so I only had to go outside my hotel to start the tour. I had paid for a 2 day tour which gave me more flexibility. Most of Vancouver is within walking distance and Stanley Park is really the only place that I needed to use the bus for. The aquarium is amazing and there is a stop at it. It was disappointing that the commentary was pre-recorded which removes the personal touch that I have enjoyed on other hop on hop off tours.

I recommend riding the whole circuit before choosing hop-offs. even tho the recorded narrative quickly becomes boring. With one exception, the drivers were very lively and enhanced the tours with added info. One complaint: a week before taking the tour, I requested the location of the Robson stop. This request was never answered luckily the stop was near our hotel, but having the desired info would have helped our planning. The drivers seemed to be very casual about checking the boarding passes--making believe that paying for two days was a waste. The days' final circuits seemed to start a bit early. All in all, I cannot think for a better way to get an overview of the city--and what a great city it is!_br/_ .
