The driver talks on the phone all the time during the journey._br/_ The local guide in Budapest was only interested in getting us into the shop to buy souvenirs and did not give us the option of going for a coffee when we are not interested in shopping._br/_ We left the hotel at 6:30am without having breakfast and we were not being told that we can only have lunch after 2:30pm. We should be told before hand to bring snacks.

The tour was very comprehensive. We have been to Budapest before and had spent a few days there. The tour covered pretty much everything we saw in those few days. The guide Claudia was very well informed and helpful. The downside was that the bus left us at Heroes Square at lunch time. There are very few options there and more so if you are not a meat-eater. Whereas there are numerous vegan and vegetarian friendly cafes in Budapest. The tour can be designed in such a way that people get an option to choose what and where to eat.

Overall, this bus trip was very well organized - including hotel pickup that was very much appreciated. There was sufficient time to see the highlights of this beautiful city including almost 2 hours of free time. While on a guided walking tour on Castle Hill, our guide brought us to a gift store which took about 10 minutes out of our tour appeared that we were expected to shop there. I didn't appreciate this as there were other shop options on the Hill and it would have been better to let us make our own decision. Other than that, the tour is definitely worth it to get an introduction of what Budapest has to offer.

I enjoyed the City of Budapest and this trip made me realize that I need to go back there for a couple days at least. The one thing that kept this from being a 5 star trip was the fact that the guide that was assigned to us in the city did not give us ear phones and hearing her was a real pain. Speaking through a microphone when outside just does not cut it.

It is a 3.5 hours non stop trip from Vienna but a great trip and worth to try. The hero square is a great place to visit and listen to the history of Hungary. The castle is worth to visit too. The local guide from Budapest was not that good and looked as if she was reading a memorized book while providing guidance. we enjoyed Buda more than Pest. The guide from Vienna was very helpful on the way to Hungary.

Budapest surely is a good place to visit. The bus ride was hassle free meeting up at the state opera. However due to time constraint, a day trip from Vienna wasn't enough. The lunch at the Hungarian restaurant was fantastic. _br/_ A good introductory tour of Budapest.

We took this tour on August 31st which was administered by Vienna Sightseeing. I am disappointed with this tour and would not recommend Vienna Sightseeing to anyone. Our Hotel pick up was at 6:30 a.m. which was delayed by half an hour. Tour started at 7:15 a.m. with an English speaking guide as we had requested. Driving time to Budapest was 3 hrs. Tour guide gave us an hour of commentary on Hungary in English and Spanish. Reached Budapest at 10:15 a.m. They gave a driving city tour for an hour and took us for lunch at 11:15 a.m. though most of us were not hungry. The food was good though._br/_ Following lunch we had a local guide for sightseeing for 2 hrs which includes 25 min shopping break. We enjoyed this portion of sightseeing and history of Budapest. Next, they took us to City Center a large shopping space to explore on our own for 2 hrs. We left Budapest at 4:45 p.m. and came back to Vienna Opera House at 8:10 p.m.

The history given on this trip was incredible. It was very hot and at my advanced years, I found the heat took some of the fun out of the site seeing walking tour. It was up or down the streets of Budapest. I'm sure younger people would enjoy more than older folks. But who knows it could just have been my inability to do such walking.

Nice tour but half the time was spent in the bus, three hours drive each way. I think it should start earlier and last longer so you get a longer time in Budapest, you can allways sleep on the bus . The guide that came with us from Vienna was very good but the local guide not so good. She spent lot of time talkingto her friend andcomplaning about the group to the shopovner in the souvenires shop at the castle. And worst of all making rather lame jokes. Everything was as adverticed, the bus was comfortable and on time. Overall a pleasant daytrip to a wonderfull city.

Nice and very easy way to visit a new country. Ride was long, but not too long considering you are visiting a country and coming back the same day. The restaurant they took us too was really good and nice. We had to pay for it. The local tour guide did a good job. And then we had some free time for a snack and some shopping before the ride home. Very well organized.

Budapest is really beautiful city and I would recommend to go and see the city, but don't go to this daytrip if you really want to see something. You should know this before going to this tour: _br/_ - there is no stops on the way to Budapest and back to Vienna _br/_ - tour guide in the bus does not actually say anything worth listening, on the way back to Vienna he does not say anything in three hours_br/_ - first stop is for Heroes' Square and then you are guided to a spesific restaurant and you have to stay there 1 hour before the guided tour starts_br/_ - local Guide was awful, her English was bad and her stories were irrelevant_br/_ - you can not go to Fisherman' s Bastion or Matthias Church, although you spent two hours outside these buildings listening guided nonsense speaking_br/_ - highpoint of the walking tour is the 30 minutes long stop to souvenir shop_br/_ - guide seems to loss her last ability to understand English when asked several times what is the scedule of the tour. All day it was impossible to find out the schedule of the day_br/_ - after the tour you are brought on the other side of the city in the centre of the shopping area, I did not come to Budapest to shop instead I wanted to see museums, churches etc._br/_ - after this you have 1,5 hours free time before you have to be back at the Intercontinental hotel_br/_ If we would have known the schedule of the day, we would not have bothered to spent time with the group, instead of tuhat we would have spent six hours in Budapest and I' m sure we would see much more tuhat way._br/_ This trip was total waste of money and time! Awoid!

Tour coordinator on the bus was good. Local tour guide in Budapest below average. Hard to hear and understand. Translator doing Spanish out loud added do the difficulty of hearing. We were NOT taken back to our hotel, as per our paperwork. We were NOT told of this till end of trip.

it was a good trip idea ,but ill planned and badly executed. The bus was great with an attached loo and the tour started on time.Firstly Claudia the tour guide was not a very warm person. We have done a number of Viator trips and found her very uninterested in what she was doing.Secondly she seemed to have a 'problem' with the e-voucher that we produced it appeared that we had committed a crime by not having the printed version,so either she is technologically challenged or has not been informed about the existence of e-vouchers.the Budapest guide Julie however was a brighter happier person. We arrived in Budapest at 10.20am and were asked to take a break and then were practically forced to take a lunch break at 11am!! is ridiculous to say the least. The lunch was good but we were left wondering why the tie up with such an expensive place? The lunch could have been shifted to a later hour and it would have been better to leave us at the castle instead even to explore with our own money would have been great.its a lovely city but the lack of planning in the design of the tour and very average guides ,left us wanting for more.Having been with Viator for a number of years this was a disappointing one :

Very poor tour. Bus ride was good but once we got to Budapest we had lunch at a restaurant which was overpriced and a waste of time. We had signed up for the English tour. We were handed off to a tour guide that was suppose to speak English but could hardly put a sentence together. We got to a beautiful tourist site where you could see the whole city etc it was beautiful. Group excited about taking pictures and she forces us to go to a dumpy souvenir store where I am sure she was getting a kickback the way she ordered us to go. The group was very frustrated because we had spent a significant amount of money, we didn't understand a word of her tour and when we did get to a beautiful site we were allowed less than 5 minutes. Very disappointing a total waste of a day. The tour guide had no confidence in speaking English she would mumble because she couldn't put words together.

disappointing. the guided tour was supposed to be 1hour but lasted only 30minutes in actual fact, with the remaining time given for souvenir shopping. The 2hours free time was good for exploration, though i would have appreciated the city more had the tour guide provided more information and explanation on the background history of Budapest. Instead, only a very brief overview was given and i felt like i didn't learn much about the country at the end of the day. Not good for travellers who want to understand the country and it's culture, but good enough for people who just want to have a convenient ride to Budapest to take pictures

Budapest is lovely and worth doing but it is a long way from Vienna and the majority of your day is spent on a bus with only a short time in the city. Our tour guide insisted we all went to a restaurant for lunch which took up time I would have rathered spent walking around the town.

This was an interesting bus tour if you wanted to have a lot of free time. It was a 3 hour drive to Budapest. Our first stop was at Hero Square where we had an hour and a half to walk around. No guided tour was given. Not much to do so we had lunch at a cafe that the tour guide had offered a set menu to us and where they would accept Euros. We then drove across the river for a hour and a half walking tour at Fisherman's Bastion with a local guide. The walking tour was basically designed to walk up the hill to look at the views and take pictures. We were not given enough time to purchase a ticket to enter the Cathedral at Castle Hill that was located there or go shopping in the the little stores. We then were driven back to the other side of the river where we were given 2 hours be on our own. We chose to walk to St. Stephen's Basilica 1 Euro. Then we strolled back to the river. There were cafes and major chain stores to shop in if you wished. Biggest problem was that we did not have the correct currency to be able to purchase items. You needed a credit card or ATM machine. It was interesting to see the sites of the city but was a long drive. The bus returned us back to the Vienna Opera House.

I took this trip to Budapest on 2nd may17. As I was travelling solo and new to the city, I chose this trip as it offered hotel pickup services. On booking the trip on 1st may I got a confirmation mail from Vioter/Vienna Site Seeing Tour with all details except the pickup time that was to happen from my Vienna hotel Atlanta. I sent a mail to which a reply came that I should call a particular number. I called the number but met with no response. Since the trip start time was 7.15am ,I had anyways planned to be ready by 6.45 or so. _br/_ Next day I woke up to a call at 6.30am and spoke from my room to a very stern sounding driver at the hotel reception. On informing that the pickup time was not communicated to me, he insisted that the pick up time was correct and seemed not interested in hearing me out. He repeatedly kept saying that 3 mts is the maximum time he can wait for. I negotiated and requested him to give me atleast 5 mts to get ready. On enquiry I was also informed that there was no passenger in the bus and I was 1st one to be picked up. However I took up the challenge and rushed down to the reception within 3.25mts yes thats correct only to discover to my shock that the driver had actually left with the bus. I took a cab to the starting point to find that the 60 seater bus was already parked there. With only another 8 passengers booked for the trip, the bus left at 7.15am. Travel and Trip to Budapest was good, although I wished the 4 hrs apx that was given in Budapest for shopping and free time could have been partially used for a little more guided city tour from the bus itself. Nevertheless for me the trip was ruined by the one bitter incident in the morning and prevents me from giving a good review. More than anything else, the drivers hardcore non cooperative attitude towards a customer for a genuine reason was quite disappointing.

This tour has potential but it wasn't well executed. Great bus and driver so no issue there. The problem was really with the guides. One guide was responsible for the trip from Vienna to Budapest, she never gave an overview of the plan/schedule for the day so there was a fair amount of confusion - not everyone on the bus appeared to have booked thru Viator. When we arrived in Budapest at 10:45 AM we ate lunch immediately, that was pretty early for tour that would not return to Vienna until 7:30 PM. After lunch a local Hungarian guide took over, again no discussion of the plan. When several tour members asked question regarding the plan the guide got belligerent. English ability was limited and didn't include the background and history that I have come to expect from other Viator tours. Also be aware it is 3 hours from Vienna to Budapest with no stops.

I highly recommend the day tour! We went there in March 2017. Though we wished we should have stayed for days in Budapest! A country with rich culture and well-preserved architecture. The local guide was very knowledgeable. A pit stop going to/from would have been nice, like 20 minutes or so going to the toilet or grab a drink at a store along the road. Overall, Budapest is a beautiful country and the day trip is a good way of exploring Budapest at a limited time.

What a trip! From the moment we met at the 'starting point' we were greeted by our very kind tour guide. The journey to Budapest was peaceful and included our guide telling us stories/history of the beautiful city. There was an accident on the road which delayed our trip by about half an hour but we still had plenty of time to explore the city of Budapest once we arrived as well as have lunch upon arrival which our tour guide directed us to. This tour left me wanting to return to Budapest for a longer stay.

We have traveled to many countries already and have been on many tour buses. We have never had a bad experience till we got on this bus. First we, were asked to board a van at our pick up point. We were brought to another meeting point so we coud get on thebigger bus to Budapest. The van driver was very friendly nd told us to buy some breakfast since it was 6 am and the bus ride would take 3 hours. So, we hurried to the nearest bakery to buy food. When we boarded the bus the bus driver rudely told us that we could not board the bus if we had food. He also very rudely asked for our passports. We pleaded for him to let us bring the food but we would not eat it because it would be such a waste to throw food in Europe is EXPENSIVE. On the bus, he was also VERY VERY VERY rude to the other passengers. A female passenger from America even asked him if he woke up on the wrong side of the bed or if he was still sleepy because he was very grouchy. We told the tour guide our concerns but she just smiled and didn't do anything. What's more, the driver LOCKED the bus restroom because he was too lazy to clean it. One of the things that attract people in paying a bit more for this bus is the restroom on the bus, especially if there are kids and older people. He refused to open the restroom. It was a 3- hour ride, NO stops. The tour was also horrible. It was a total waste of money. The guide had a monotonous voice that would lull you to sleep. Then, the walking tour was also bad. The tour guide just brought us to the Cathedral and nothing else. Oh, she gave us ample time to shop in a very overpriced souvenir shop and she took time to convince us to buy things there, probably because she would have a hefty commission. The bus did not stop to let the passengers take pictures on the important historical sites. The lunch was NOT free either. In the afternoon, we were brought to a square and was left there on our own. There weren't many nice places nearby. It was in the middle of the commercial district. If we wanted to shop, we would have stayed in Vienna or stayed in our home country. DO NOT MAKE A MISTAKE OF BOOKING THIS TOUR. IT IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY AND YOU WILL END UP SEETHING IN ANGER LIKE ALMOST ALL OF US IN THE BUS. IF THERE WAS SUCH A THING AS A NEGATIVE STAR, THAT IS WHAT WE WOULD GIVE HIM. We are decent people so we will not use inappropriate words here but all those colorful words are in our minds UNTIL NOW. If you want the worst possible experience go and book at your own risk.

AWESOME trip. We saw so much in one day. A good mix of free time and guided time. We had just enough time to even do a river cruise, which was spectacular. Our guide was fantastic. Felt like we got to see all of the city in the short time we had. Excited to return to Budapest, fell in love with its beauty and charm.

The trip was Ok. The food at the restaurant the tour booked wasn't great. Chicken paprika and gnocci. The tour guide was nice. But we just walked around outside and had no time to go in anyplace. Would have liked to go into the Parliament or something on the castle side but instead just walked by. There was of course time to shop in the gift shop in the castle area. The weather was rainy the day we went, which certainly influence my view and the tour can't control that.
