Small-Group Heritage Communism Tour in Warsaw

Embark on a communism tour by old militia van with a local English-speaking guide. Learn about Poland’s socialist history as you tour around Warsaw in a Nysa 522, an original Communist-era van. Explore the famous communist sites in Warsaw, including Constitution Square and the Ministry of Agriculture. Visit the heart of socialism at the old seat of the Central Committee of the Polish United Worker’s Party. Discover the insides of the Palace of Culture and Science. Experience what it was like to live in Poland during the Communist era by visiting the Communism Times Museum.
You will go to Constitution Square, discover the Utopian plans of the Ministry of Agriculture, see the propaganda at the Palace of Culture and Science (PKiN), and learn about the unknown secrets of the former headquarters of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party (i.e. the Party House). You will be taken to the Museum of Life under Communism (“Charm of the PRL” Museum) where, to the sound of old vinyl playing, you will go back in time to understand the reality of the communist regime. You will have a chance to watch some propaganda films while enjoying a traditional drink and snack. Groups are small, max 7 people. Guides are flexible and open for discussion, sharing our local point of view. The easy-going feel of the tour will help you experience the atmosphere of the city and understand the local culture and mentality.
We got tricked. Thought we were taking the small-group heritage communism tour that we had booked but when we showed up the same vendor Adventure tours was running another tour, the Warsaw adventure tour, and even though he saw our voucher for the Small Group Heritage Communism tour, our guide Lucas told us to get into the bus. Since no one from the company called us to say we were missing from the other tour, we think this was probably deliberate as they probably did not have any other people on the tour we were going to take and decided to cut corners by quickly including us in the tour which did have customers so they would not have to run a separate van or guide. We only realized this halfway through the tour when I questioned why we were not going to the iconic Palace of Culture and Science and being told it was not part of the tour. Nor did the guide take anyone to the museum of communism which by the way was included on both our original tour and the adventure tour we were hustled into. There were some hushed phone calls between his office and him which appeared to suggest that our situation was known and if not planned, at least overlooked.

Enjoyed my time but the trip was a bit disorganized...spent a long time picking up extra guests. Guide was knowledgeable but I was never clear about where we we going. Great value but the visit to the deserted bazaar was a waste of time
