Xi'an Full Day Sightseeing Tour - Shaanxi History Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Ancient City Wall
Xian, China
Spend a full day exploring the unique history, culture, beautiful architecture and religious monuments of the ancient walled city of Xi'an. One of the capitals of ancient China, this city is also one of the four capitals of the world’s ancient civilizations. Visit the Shaanxi History Museum and learn all about the “Silk Road” city, one of the most well-protected cities in China. Tour the Big Wild Goose Pagoda with your expert guide, stop at the Great Mosque and enjoy an authentic Chinese lunch.
This full-day guided tour of Xi’an begins with a visit to the Shaanxi History Museum for a cultural and historical overview of the province, dating back to the great Emperor Qing.
Travel to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Buddhist temple built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty, which served as a holding place for religious texts and holy figurines that were brought to China from India. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious Chinese lunch before visiting one of the oldest existing Chinese city walls. The walls form a circumference of nearly 9 miles (14km), and each side has a gateway beyond which stand three massive towers. Learn about how the corners of the wall feature a watchtower that was used for defense against intruders.
Continue your sightseeing tour to the Great Mosque. First constructed in the Tang Dynasty, the mosque adheres to traditional Chinese architectural style, and its grounds were expanded in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties to include extensive pavilions, platforms and halls.
After your full-day guided tour, sit back, relax and enjoy a comfortable drive back to your hotel.
While I don't think that this tour is needed to see Xi'an this tour provided a quick overview for anyone who wants to see the city. The tour guide was extremely knowledgable and makes getting around easy if you don't speak Chinese.

good day tour of xian. if you are in xian and have some time apart from terra cotta army, you can take this your to visit prominent sites in xian. the museum was really good and with guide it becomes even better. the pagoda has rich cultural heritage. the mosque is another important site in xian. followed by the ride on the city wall through the southern gate. after the tour you would definitely realise that the day was went spent.

The tour to the history museum was extremely informative. My guide, Lily, was very patient in explaining the history of ancient China. I was the only one on the tour so it was a one-to-one tour. The visits to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Ancient City Wall were equally amazing! I opted to take a bicycle ride on the city wall. Highly recommend this tour as the locations of the museum and pagoda are outside the city wall.

Having taken several of these historical tours, one's experience depends on the tour guide you get. For this particular tour, I got Lily who was very knowledgeable and spoke good English. She seemed to know her history well and gave me a lot of information as we walked through the Shaanxi History Museum...an absolute MUST SEE on any Xian itinerary. Also enjoyed the Wild Goose Pagoda and the fancy Tang Dynasty buffet. I would highly recommend this tour. Just excellent stuff if you enjoy history and good sumptuous food. Thank you, Lily

Amazing tour ! Our tour guide Lucia was so knowledgeable and her English was perfect. We didn't know too much about Xi'an except that it is home to the Terracotta army, but after the tour we knew so much more. Xi'an is a city in China we won't mind visiting again.

Lots of walking and stairs so I recommend you be in good shape. When you visit the Museum be prepared for large, somewhat inconsiderate and occasionally downright rude crowds Welcome to cattle hearding. The Pagoda is a marvel as are all the out buildings with lots of wonderful history and architecture. The Wall is amazing not only in its construction, but history with lots of walking, stairs and terrific views. Do not recommend visiting the Muslim district as tourist traps abound as does a feeling of insecurity.

Excellent tour, my guide was very knowledgeable, his English skills were perfect. He was so helpful at all times. I was the only person taking the tour, was more a one on one experience. I really enjoyed my tour around this beautiful city.

We booked this tour through Han Tang International Travel Services and as compensation for the poor service we received on another tour Dumpling Banquet and Tang Show, they included a free visit to Muslim Street which was very interesting and enjoyable.

This was a good tour. Unfortunately it rained the day we went. Remember to pack an umbrella if you go. The ancient City wall was beautiful. The museum was packed because they give free tickets away every day so it was difficulty to see things. The muslim market place was a great place to shop at. Overall -- Good tour.

I spent a great day travelling around Xi'an with my guide, Lucia. I was the only person on this tour, so I had a lot of time to chat and find out about life in Xi'an. You could probably do this tour by yourself, but to save time organizing tickets and buses etc the Viator trip makes it worthwhile.

The tour guide was knowledgeable and polite, and the stops were interesting. However, at the time we visited the Shaanxi History Museum was extremely crowded, and at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda we were taken to an "art gallery" where we felt that there was an expectation to buy something (although we were told that proceeds went to the temple). Furthermore, the included lunch was not very good.

Lucia was hands-down the BEST tour guide I had in all of Asia. Excellent English and very kind! I had this tour to myself and she always allowed me how much/little time I wanted everywhere. Super knowledgeable and very fun! Highly recommend!_br/_

Once again Viator is tops. Excellent guide with very good English and knowledge of the places visited. I felt that this tour also was great value for the money. Comfortable transport, excellent restaurant for lunch and no pressure from the guide to hurry. Viator, you tick all the boxes - I was recommended to your site and I am so pleased that I followed through._br/_

Great way to see all Xian, was picked up on time at Hotel by tour guide. Tour Guide spoke great English and went out of her way to make sure we say everything. She also took care of tickets and we were able to go to the front of the lines to get into all the historic spots.

Excellent tour. With foreign tourists down over 80% since 2008, this tour through Viator turned out to be a private tour for my wife and I! Small but nice air conditioned van us + driver + English speaking guide. Guide was very informative and knowledgeable. With just 2 of us in the tour, we could ask a lot of questions to learn more of the city and culture. Lunch was very good with lots to eat.

I felt that the tour guide could have better descriptions of what I saw, as I wound up listening to some other tour guides who had better explanations.

This was a really good tour to take the hassle out of trying to find all of these places on foot or by taxi. It does everything that is missing on the Essential Xi'an Full Day Tour. Make sure you give yourself an extra 3 or 4 hours on one day to cycle around the city wall, though; it's really worth doing!
