I didn't realize how small York was when I booked hop-on hop-off tickets. We were able to easily walk around the city and see all of the sites we were interested in on our own. We rode the bus for about 10 minutes total, mostly because we had paid for it not because we needed to take a bus. We did learn a few things about York's history, but I wouldn't book hop-on hop-off tickets in York again.

This was a great way to get my bearings around York, its a beautiful city and looks big but its actually walkable. The bus was a good way of seeing the walls and there were lots of stops around the city.

The bus trip is good value and a good way to get an overview. There are audiotapes in different languages for commentary. Our first trip was spoiled by a live guide who got on and stood at the front of the bus up top right in front of us blocking our view, plugged his microphone in and began live commentary. His accent made his English hard to follow, he big-noted himself and mocked our Australian nationality which we found offensive. We stayed on to see the sights but later in the day we repeated the circuit without a live guide. It was much better.

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We hopped on and off 3 times, and all the drivers were pleasant and helpful. The recording was very informative, although it would be helpful if there were short pauses to allow for thinking!

We were only in York for a day, and felt seeing the city on this hop-on, hop-off bus was the most efficient way to see the highlights. The live guide, and also the recorded tour, were very interesting. This was clearly very popular, and it was sometimes difficult to squeeze back on the bus if we had gotten off at big tourist site.

Right off the train and onto the bus outside. York is not a big city so it takes about one hour to complete the ring road tour seeing and being pointed towards the main sites. Good commentary on board with regular stops to visit the attractions.

The tour is helpful for checking out the city quickly, specially if you have about 1.5 hours to spare in the city. Quickly takes you to places around the downtown York area. It was also USD 19, so it is cheaper to take this bus for a day pass instead of paying the same to a cab to go everywhere. Alternatively, one could walk the city, but this is a nice ride if you wanna take it easy and not walk.

First time to York and we found the tour very informative. Enjoyed the fact that you can get on and off the bus as often as you like. Would have liked the bus to go a little slower so that I could absorb the history better although I appreciate that's not so easy in the traffic.

A worthwhile way to see York as it went to all the main attractions and gave us a chance to see places of interest. We were able to use it as transport to our pre-booked York Dungeons experience. We were able to visit York Minster and the Chocolate Story.

We started our vacation in Oxford. It sure helped when we had just left the train station and found the Hop on Hop off bus awaiting as we did. The driver was very friendly and polite. We enjoyed the commentary as well as the incredible history of the town. We HIGHLY recommend taking the tour to anyone planning to visit the town of Oxford.

I'm a fan of City Hop-on Hop-off Tours while travelling, especially internationally. Not being familiar with these cities, and trying not to miss any important sites, this is a fantastic opportunity to see the best of what each city has to offer. This particular tour had an extremely knowledgeable guide, Lisa, who was local from York. Not only did she provide interesting facts about the city, but was also able to add funny trivia and folk lore as well. It was very easy to book this tour online. I printed off my voucher, signed it, surrendered it to the driver of the tour, and was on my way. A very reasonable price for a lifetime of memories.

Really fantastic bus tour of York because instead of stop start audio we were lucky to have a lovely lady telling us not only about the history and landmarks but also lots of other interesting stories about York. Would be a much better experience for everyone if this was the norm. I can also remember this in Liverpool and that was fantastic to.

I was very happy with this tour. I only had half a day before I needed to travel elsewhere by train, but I was still able to see many of the great sites I wanted to see, there was a live guide on board, rather than an audio commentary, which allowed for questions we might have had. This is a fantastic way to get a valuable introduction to the city, even if you have limited time.

Althougt York was just great, we were dissapointed in the busdriver that drove too fast for any-one to enjoy the sightseeing from the bus. This seem to be a problem throughout this industry.
