Oahu Day Trip to Pearl Harbor from Maui

Maui, United States of America

Journey to Pearl Harbor and take a step back in time to an era of conflict and courage on this unforgettable Maui to Oahu day trip. Great for passengers of all ages, you'll visit the Arizona Memorial and USS Missouri, take a scenic tour of downtown Honolulu, and relive the moment in history that propelled America into World War II.

One of the most popular and moving day trips from Maui to Oahu, the Pearl Harbor excursion takes you from the site of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor to the signing of the armistice aboard the USS Missouri. You will board a Navy launch for a trip into history across Pearl Harbor to visit the Arizona Memorial.

On your guided tour of the USS Missouri, you'll explore the last battleship built by the US Navy, which served from World War II through to Desert Storm. The Missouri was the site of the 1945 Japanese surrender to the Allies.

Your historic Maui to Oahu day trip continues with a drive past the historic attractions of downtown Honolulu, including:

  • Kawaiahao Church
  • Iolani Palace - the only royal palace on American soil
  • State Library and Archives
  • the famous statue of King Kamehameha
  • Honolulu Hale
  • the Mission Houses Museum
  • Waikiki Beach
  • Diamond Head Crater (if time permits)
  • Nu'unanu Rainforest and Pali Lookout

Before you return to Maui you will also experience the serenity of the Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific and Courts of the Missing.

Our tour guide, Kaleo, was great! Very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. Highly recommend! The tour of Pearl Harbor was even more moving than I even imagined. It was absolutely amazing and incredibly moving. Do not miss this tour.

We had a great guide.,,, I was just unhappy with the rushed pace... there was no time to eat or get to the gift shops. We saw the Arizona Memorial and the Missouri. Nothing else. I would have loved to get into some of the museums and onto the submarine, the Bowfish. We did a downtown tour, which wasn't necessary. I would have preferred to focus on Pearl Harbor. The day just felt like we were rushing from one thing to another without really getting to see or enjoy anything. Our tour guide, Tommy, was great and full of knowledge. I wasn't disappointed with him, I was disappointed with the tour itself. More time is needed in Pearl Harbor to see everything it has to offer. It was too rushed for only having the opportunity to see two memorials. Too much was squeezed into this tour, which made it impossible to enjoy any of the stops. Less would have been best. I would have happily forgone the town trip. Not knowing Pearl Harbor, I trusted that when they said we could do both, there would be plenty of time. There is not time to do both and be able to enjoy everything.

Our tour guide did a nice job of giving us information on the island of Oahu. It was a long day though!

This was a fantastic tour. It was smooth as silk and hassle free. We didn't have to worry about a thing. Our tour guide, Ed, was wonderful. His knowledge of the area and the people was amazing. I would highly recommend this tour.

Great trip. Know that you will spend time in Waikiki along with the Pearl Harbor portion. Wish we had had more than an hour for the USS Missouri, as we didn't get to everything. Waikiki was interesting and we had signed up knowing this was a part of it, but it's just a mass of humanity. We would have been fine just doing the Missouri and Arizona. Also, they met us at airport before we left and were in baggage when we landed so truly great customer service.

Fantastic Tour. We had a great day, though it was hot when we happened to be there and bottled water was key. We were fortunate to arrive when they were beginning the celebration of King Kamehameha Day and started to drape flowers all over his statue. The guide was very informative and really helped give perspective to the locations we visited. He was really helpful. It is a lot to pack into one day, but it is truly worth it. Lunch options are in a few places, just depending on how much time you spend at the various stops. We ended up having ramen noodles when we stopped in Waikiki. The trip to Pearl Harbor is hard to understate. I hope to get my kids to take this one next time we are in Maui.

our tour guide and #34;Captain Ron and #34; was horrible. The tour on Oahu was very rushed, he told us we had no time to do anything other than see the movie and go to the memorial. It began raining when we went to pick up our bags, he dropped us off, left us in the rain. Learned more about his health than Hawaii.

We had a great tour of Pearl Harbor. It started with a flight from Maui on Hawaiin Airlines. Crew was excellent, and the flight short - 30 minutes. Upon landing, we met our tour guide, Jay. He was very knowledgable, and a pleasure to be with. We started with the history video, then taken over to the Arizona Memorial very special location - very respectful to the men who lost their lives there . Next, over to the Missouri, with our tour guide Ford , who gave us a very detailed tour. We were then loaded on a bus, to go downtown. We had about 1 1/2 hours to walk around, and have dinner. We stopped at the International Market Place.

The tour guide was very poor at time management. He would tell us the schedule then not stick to it. People got left behind, we had to go back. Flights were going to be missed due to his misuse of time. He rambled about things that were not part of the tour. Pearl Harbor is amazing and an emotional place. I would not recommend this tour due to the guide.

The tour was great until they dumped us in the middle of downtown for three whole hours. After we had lunch and walked around the shopping district most of us had nowhere to go and no where sit and wait for two plus hours. Everyone in our group of 8 was more than a little upset.

Pearl harbor was magnificent. Our greeter at the Maui airport was great. Unfortunately, our hotel/airport transfer was part of the package we paid for and then they deleted that from the package with no refund. Numerous inquiries resulted in no return comments or resolutions. Delta Vacations points the finger at Viator, Viator points the finger at the local tour provider. Meanwhile, we were victims of bait and switch. Our guide was good when he stuck to the history and information of Hawaii. Unfortunately, he worked too hard at trying to be humorous and it just fell flat. Punchbowl was a drive-by, no getting out of the bus.

The crew here at Maui weren't particularly informative or helpful. We weren't directed to our check in, security,... Even though we booked some weeks ago we did not have assigned seats on the return flight and we stuck in the very back of the plane by the engines. However, our driver and guide once we got to Maui was fantastic. Ed made up for it all. We give Ed 6 stars, the rest a 2.

Very enjoyable trip. To visit the memorial is very somber, which is what I expected. Ernie was extraordinary in making everyone have fun and explaining some intricate details of the area and history of the island and people.

Everything ran efficiently. We flew over from Maui and the representative was there waiting with our tickets. We have the appropriate amount of time at Pearl Harbor to see all the displays. Cody was our guide/bus driver for the day and he is very personable.

Had plenty of time at the Arizona Memorial but not near enough time at the Missouri. Instead of being dropped of in Honolulu near Waikiki for nearly 2 1/2 hours the time would have been better spent on the Missouri. If I return I will get my tickets to and from Honolulu myself and spend the entire day at Pearl Harbor.

Excellent tour: the site is especially moving and well done and the tour guides - from the person who picked us up at the hotel to the folks who met us at the airport to the all day guide - were fantastic. All were very knowledgeable and polite! Highly recommend this tour with this group!

I enjoyed this tour, for I'm a history buff and like visiting places such as Pearl Harbor. It's one thing to have read about the attack on Pearl Harbor and see the pictures, but to actually visit the place where it all happened and see the USS Arizona lying on the bottom has a definite impact. I enjoyed touring the USS Missouri as well going through the Punchbowl, for now my appreciation for what sacrifices these brave men went through on that infamous day in 1941 has been greatly increased.

Pearl Harbor and the USS Missouri were great. Riding around in the van seeing most things from the tour van/bus were not our cup of tea. I would suggest that if this sounds like you or your family, I would just do the Pearl Harbor tour.

The trip was wonderful! It was very frustrating getting there. We was supposed to meet a greeter at the airport and couldn't find them. Called 3 times and had to find my own way. People at the airport helped us more than anyone. Then when we got to Honolulu we finally come in contact with a rep from the local tour operator. From that point this guy was with us through the entire day and he was more than GREAT!!! Wonderful experience!

It was what you would expect. The Pearl Harbor site is very solemn. The movie is worth a watch. Get there early because the Navy tends to stop the shuttle later in the day.

We had a great day! The morning shuttle to the airport was prompt and quick the flights were smooth the tour guide on Oahu was super, giving us much background on the culture and history of the area. The only negative was the shuttle pick-up on our return--it was raining, no one was in the terminal to direct us, the directions to the pick up point were a bit confusing, and the van driver did not get out of the van where he was parked at curbside in the dark, so had some trouble finding him. Overall, I would recommend this tour to everyone!

We were unable to see the Arizona memorial, although it was due to unavoidable circumstances. We spent too much time at Pearl Harbor but missed the most sacred thing to do. Sorry but I am unhappy with it.

This was very disappointing, especially for such an expensive one-day tour. The memorial that we went to see closed while we were in the site's theater preparing for our short boat ride out to the USS Arizona. The claim was that the water was too rough and that it was windy, so boats couldn't take us over there. However, the water was actually calm. I was told by the Park Ranger that stopped the boat rides happens all the time, in fact, he said it was the fourth time this week - and it was only Wednesday! The weather was just normal Hawaii weather according to those familiar with the weather here. Even if the water had been choppy - this is the US Navy for crying out loud, so surely they can figure out a way to safely transport tourists less than half a mile across the water. People go through Class V rapids in rubber rafts! There was no mention in any of the literature that there was a distinct possibility that we would not be able to go to the USS Arizona. If cancellations are as frequent as they apparently are, some warning of that possibility was warranted. There was no offer to add anything to the tour to replace the cancelled visit. A flippant You can come back tomorrow morning early if you really want to see it doesn't work. We flew almost 5,000 miles to Hawaii then paid a significant sum to fly to Oahu for this specific tour. We flew back out last night - no chance for a do-over. Fair warning would have been nice. I think there was information about the islands provided on our flight, but our propeller plane was so noisy that I couldn't hear one word that was said... Others in our group flew over to Oahu on a jet engine plane and apparently had a much quieter ride..._br/_ Our guides were all very pleasant and personable. We were picked up at our hotel at the appointed hour.

Our day on Oahu met our expectations of time well spent. Our guide, Cody, exceeded our expectations and was one of the highlights of the trip. Cody treated us like VIPs. We appreciated his commentaries and his clear communications regarding what to see and how much time to allow at each site. Cody is a public relations treasure. Thank you Cody from the two Debby!

Ernie our guide was great and entertaining. The trip was educational and interesting. We saw so much of the island and the history of Pearl Harbor was a solemn experience yet learning so much about what really happened. I would do this again it was so good.

The only confusing thing is after you book trying to get a hold of the right people to confirm your reservation. You don't go through viator at that point, you go directly through to Polynesian Tours. I had to call twice on 2 separate occasions because the first person would always say they would call me back and never did. Come to find out, it was because somehow the reservation had my name with a type-o and they couldn't find it! I just had to be persistent. Once all of that was cleared up, the trip went really well. It does make for a long day but it is worth it! Plus, you are on vacation so you can plan to go to bed early the night before and sleep in the next day. It was nice to have transportation in Oahu and nice not to have to pack another bag to stay over night on a different island.
