We were impressed with our guide - Salvatore Pepe. He had a wealth of knowledge to share and took great care of us! The tour offers you breathtaking sights of the Alps. The train is heated this is a valuable feature as the tourists prefer to keep all windows open at least in the summer, when we took our tour to take better photos - and the temperature in the Alps drops steeply as the train climbs. Be sure to bring along a sweatshirt! Don't be fooled by hot weather in Milan! - Once you climb up into the mountains, the temperature cools off rapidly!

Hubby and I took this tour and enjoyed it thoroughly. Loved it so much I went back the next summer and brought my parents along who enjoyed it even more. One of the most beautiful train rides in the world, period. The Italian town where you board is a great place to experience an authentic lunch and do some shopping before you board. St. Moritz is such a picture postcard city. Definitely check out the delicious chocolate stores there. The bus ride back is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend this tour!

This was an amazing trip with some wonderful scenery all along the way. The rail trip was excellent despite nearly missing it due to the group leader moving off from the agreed meeting point far too early!! Maybe not enough time given to us at St. Moritz to have a good look round. It was a long day but well worth it seeing some incredible sights.

The Italian company that runs the trip, made us wait in the rain early in the morning before boarding the bus. The bus seats did not have much leg-room and I am only 5'8 and I can imaging how difficult it would be for a 6-foot person. There was no bathroom in the bus, which is inconvenient for a fairly long trip. Viator should negotiate better quality buses. Nowadays buses can be fancy and luxurious.

The Bernina Express Rail Tour was excellent with breath taking scenery and views of the Swiss Alps. Now, with total transparency, I will tell you that if you have the access and opportunity to do this train on your own from Tirano that you would save a bunch of money and it would be the way to go. That being said, if you are staying in Milan with no access to Tirano like my family then this tour becomes highly attractive and is totally worth it. They dont really give you an agenda when you purchase your tickets, which would be nice, but they do lay out the plan for the day at the beginning of the tour. We started out early at 7am, drove for about 2hours and took a 30 minute breakfast/ washroom break. The tour guide pointed out spots of interest and local tidbits throughout the day. Then drove again to Tirano where we toured the cathedral and had a little bit of free time before lunch. The tour guide offered a lunch to the group at a local restaurant at the cost of 16 EU they gave half price for our kids. It was good, not great, and allowed fast service to get back to the bus. The option to venture on your own was offered as long as you met back at the designated time. We then boarded the train shortly before 1. This was the highlight of trip. The scenery was beautiful as the train moved slowly through the Alps. We were allowed to lower the windows to get great pictures, which isnt allowed on the panoramic cars of the train. If it is winter, please dress appropriately! There were some folks on our tour that werent happy with the windows down, but most of us loved it. It was breathtaking, enjoyable, and fun! Our pictures were great! After we arrived in St. Moritz we were allowed a short amount of free time. We walked into town for some hot chocolate and picked out some candies to take back. The bus drove us back through the mountains which allowed for some more pleasant scenery. We didnt arrive back to our starting point until close to 8:00. I highly reccomend this tour for people staying in Milan with no car who have a free day to head up to the Swiss Alps. But know what the day is going to be, I reccomend to the tour company to advertise the itinerary on the tour page.

This trip was absolutely beautiful and worth it. The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining and the sights were incredible. Everything ran smoothly and there was adequate time for each activity. My only suggestion would be to provide a trip itinerary in advance- we honestly didn't know what to expect, but had heard good things so we went for it. All in all, I highly recommend.

Although this is a very long day, it is well worth it. The coach trip up to Tirana where you get the train is lovely- along the shores of Lake Como. Once you are on board the train the views are breath-taking. Although we are used to snow, we have never seen that amount of snow and people from South America were delighted by it, getting handfuls to feel and taste! Our guide was very informative and the suggested restaurant for lunch with local specialties was a good choice and not expensive. Our only criticism was the coach driver who drove so fast and recklessly on the return trip, even overtaking other coaches on blind bends.

This was a wonderful experience. Our guide Sonia was excellent. She explained everything. We had 1.5 hours in St Moritz, which was more than enough to walk around the main street, have a quick lunch and get to the Bernina Express for the trip back. The snow pack was amazing and he had a light snow in St. Moritz while we were there. The only bad part was the heavy fog on the first part of the trip, but you just can't predict that in advance.

Feel like a millionaire on this tour - the train is lovely and the scenery incredible! We went to the Grand Hotel in St. Moritz for hot chocolate on the patio and admired the beautiful scenery. Don't forget to pick up some Swiss chocolate for the ride back!_br/_ This tour is a great way to see a piece of Swiss heaven from Milan. You can be back in Milan for a pasta dinner!

BEAUTIFUL!! It was a catch 22 because it snowed on our trip and visibility was low but I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The train ride 2hrs was nice and slow, allowing you to take pictures and enjoy the experience. The bus ride to St Moritz was scenic and amazing as well. There were lots of tunnels and mountains and small villages. The stop in St Moritz was only about an hour, so not much time to explore because youre trying to get food. So it maybe worth it to pack a lunch so you can walk around and enjoy the small city. Its mostly high end stores though. We ate @ Hauser Restaurant and it was good, expensive but good.

This rail journey was advertised as one of the worlds great rail trips and it did not disappoint. The early start from Milan meant a very long day but it was all worthwhile. We would recommend this tour to anyone interested in fine mountain scenery.

It was overall a great day and not to be missed. I would change two things. One make it easier to board the bus in the morning. Everyone is half asleep. We have our vouchers so the person should have a scanner to read the bar code and be done with it. Additionally you should give the guests a chance to pre buy lunch online when we sign up and pay for it then instead of trying to have exact change of 16 euros on the bus. It would make the process much smoother.

The views were beautiful! However, the itinerary wasn't well communicated. There was no mention of a bus and we spent more than half of the time on a bus. The actual train ride was only about an hour. The views that we could see were beautiful, but if you chose the wrong side of the train then you missed most of the pretty sites. It also said that we would be back around 7 and we didn't get back until 8. No one on the tour seemed to know what or when we were doing anything. The guide was GREAT! But I wouldn't pay for this trip again. It is more of a bus tour than a rail tour.

This is a trip to be scheduled on a sunny day. If its foggy you will only experience hours spent on bus and train, seeing some trees covered in snow. We've hadd poor visibility, hardly seen anything at all. To be frank: Bernina Express is a regular train connection between Tirano and St Moritz, leaving 3 times a day. You can easily plan it yourself, buy tickets online, take the train from Milano to Tirana without being bound to trip operator, and risking zero-visibility trip on a bad weather day. It gives you flexibility, and you will avoid taking the bus from Milano at 07.00 to reach train at 13.00. We weren't really interested in two hours lunch break and 45 minutes breakfast break. I would rather have had breakfast at my hotel, sleep longer and take a later connection to Tirana.

The trip was splendid and I would highly recommend that anyone planning to be in Milan for more than 2 days spend one of those days on the Bernina Express. However, unlike other commenters, I was underwhelmed by our guide, who was more a chaperone than an informed tour guide. She shared trivial details and only very rarely. It was hands off, which can sometimes be good, but there was ample opportunity for sharing interesting history details, fun facts, anecdotes. Instead we got minimal commentary, and when we did the radios didn't even work. Gorgeous trip, really! Just plan to look things up on Wikipedia as you go, rather than rely on a guide.

The tour we booked specifically mentioned ENGLISH ONLY tour. But what we had is a mixture of Spanish with little bits in Eng. 3 parts in Spanish n 1 part Eng. Worse still, the Spanish tourists started to chat loudly whenever the Spanish explanation was over. Otherwise, the view was superb.

Long day but well worth the experience. Our guide Antonella, was superb, knowledgeable, multi lingual, calm in the face of unusual setbacks. Passengers forgetting passports, getting on the wrong coaches, coach pick-up delays, and passengers becoming ill needing rerouting to their hotel._br/_ Good facilities at the planned stops en route to the train. The restaurant and menu planned for us was excellent and efficient._br/_ The train ride itself was amazing. The views were fantastic, as we got higher up the mountains through the pass. It was shocking how small the glaciers now are. At St Moritz there were escalators to take us up into the town, and we avoided the steep hills, for health reasons. We enjoyed choosing chocolate from one of the superb shops., and looking down over the town and the lake._br/_ Our return trip by coach was the most amazing route, down a steeply sloping, sharply angled, zigzag roadway through the Maloja Pass. _br/_ It was an experience of a lifetime!

Unbelievable views on the Bernina Express will forever be imbedded in my mind. The train ride was smooth and I loved looking down in the valley every time we went around a switchback. The day was too long though and we got back about an hour later than we were told that we would get back. It made for about a 13 hour trip. The bus stops for food and snacks were confusing especially the one coming back. They wanted us to go to the counter and tell people what we wanted to eat before we even knew what they had to offer.
