We're quickly learning that working with Viator is about as easy as it gets. The van was waiting for us when we were among the first dozen off the ship. This trip was the most complicated of the three we booked. We had a group of seven and the van seated a dozen. We picked up two more at the ship and another two en route. Getting out of the port is brutal. Too many vehicles and too little space...the disadvantage of a downtown port. We made a couple of fairly quick stops before the short drive to Pompeii. Our guide handed us off to another group of about 30, and the guide was excellent. Had excellent stories and her English was excellent. Did we mention it was HOT. Not sure if the natives died from the volcano or the heat. Be prepared. At the end of the tour we were instructed to go with others to a large bus which took us back to port. Not a problem but not what we thought we had purchased. We will definitely work with Viator again. Thanks.

Pompeii was our favorite Europe experience. Our tour guide Elisa was excellent - has 25 years of experience and had so many interesting details to share that made you get a picture of what their culture was like and how people's everyday life was like in this city before it was destroyed by the volcanic ash. Would not miss Pompeii if you're visiting Italy! The Naples city tour wasn't much but gave you a little taste of the city.

Elise was a wonderful guide! We appreciated her knowledge very much! We were met by the driver who took us to the first stop, a beautiful church, where we met our guide. Her English was excellent. She's a very intelligent person and had loads of information. She led us through Pompeii like a pro and we learned so much. If you are traveling with kids or teens, this 1/2 day tour is perfect!

The tour was well organised our guide very informative and knowledgeable. The bus driver was very careful amongst erratic traffic._br/_ Pompeii was a huge place with lots of walking at times on uneven ground, wear flat comfortable shoes sunscreen and hat, take water. Toilets and washrooms were very crowded, had to line up, very inadequate for the amount of visitors._br/_ Pompeii was very thought provoking about how the people and animals lost their lives in such a devastating event, in a very advanced civilisation._br/_ Our guide told many interesting stories, and we would recommend a visit to this site._br/_ Naples is a very cosmopolitan crowded city lovely food and good coffee.

Good tour, guide was knowlagable and informative, very helpfully and accomadating, would recommend to anyone looking to see these featured sights. We were a little concerned initially as the pick up after departing the cruise ship was a little late, but after seeing Naples traffic could understand.

Fantastic tour! Elisa was wonderful, informative, charming, fluent in English and Spanish. She gave us a wealth of information on both of these tours. The Naples tour was first and then we drove to Pompeii. It was fantastic! We were done around 2:30 pm and the bus driver from the tour bus was kind enough to drop my husband and I back near the port so we could eat authentic Naples pizza before getting onto the ship.

Did not like the sightseeing tour of Naples. Drive was just going back and forth in town. Pompeii was awesome, the tour guide was very informative. Didn't like that we were hearded like cattle once we arrived for the Pompeii tour. Too many people for one guide.

After a good bit of confusion getting started we had a limited driving tour of Naples. Our guide then conducted a walking tour of the Pompeii ruins. She was relatively entertaining but did not provide much than general overviews which we had previously read.

Once again, very good trip. The tour company is amazing. They waited for people and still tried to remain on schedule. Guide was once again very informative and knowledgeable. This is important because you want to get the history right. Very good tour company. I will book this tour company again.

Not a well organized tour. We started with a small group of 9 people and our first stop was at a cafe where we were told to 'meet back' in 15 minutes. During that time the bus filled up with more people which we weren't told about so we all lost our seats and couldn't sit with our family. The Pompei tour guide was good and did a nice job of explaining the history etc. but after the tour we were all passed off to different guides depending on where people were being dropped off. This was very confusing to everyone and we ended up on a horrible bus ride back to Naples. First, there was no air conditioning and it was stifelling hot. Then the driver drove like a maniac at very high speeds, honking constantly at every car/truck in his way. Very, very scary! Everyone on the bus was completely rattled and we were happy to get back alive. Definitely left a lasting impression ... and not a good one.

Our guide was excellent and spoke great English. This would have gotten a five star except for two problems. _br/_ First, the ear pieces at Pompeii did not work well so we had to strain to hear our guide. Second, we had to wait about 30 minutes in the hear for the bus returning to the cruise port.

We really enjoyed our tour of Naples and Pompeii. Our tour guide Margherita was knowledgeable, helpful and had a great sense of humor. The tour of Naples gave us a good taste of this fascinating city. Pompeii was very crowded and while Margherita's tour was excellent, the return to Naples, due to the large numbers of tourists going to different destinations, was a little more hectic than it should have been.

We very much enjoyed our tour of Naples and Pompeii. Our guide Margherita was wonderful. She was organized, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The Naples sights were carefully picked out and gave us a nice taste of that city. Pompeii was very crowded and while Margherita's tour and information was excellent, on account of tourists going to many different destinations, the return trip to Naples was more hectic and confusing than it could have been.

We traveled to the Mediterranean the week of the Barcelona attacks on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. Though the ship did not address the attacks at all nor offered passengers any help or guidance on 8/17 or 8/18, all other companies we booked with were very accommodating including the excursion to Naples/Pompeii via Viator. We were scheduled to take an 8 AM excursion from the Naples Port on 8/18 but since we were scrambling to jump ship and book alternate plans to avoid returning to Barcelona that night, we were unable to keep our tour reservation. Due to the nature of this event and the fact that we were at see, I was unable to contact Viator until sometime in the middle of the night before our 8 AM tour. The local service was very kind and accommodating and we were lucky that they were able to change our reservation to the next day instead picking us up from our hotel. It was a relief!

VERY DISAPPOINTING !! Met by guide Elisa who showed little interest in our group family of 8 incl 2 kids. City tour much too long and not very interesting. Left only 2 hrs at Pompei. Pompei tour most disappointing. Did not see many of the most interesting sites. Spent long stretches standing in hot sun 30 temps listening to mundane descriptions of life in Pompei. Most info provided centred around toilet habits of inhabitants and lengthy descriptions of plumbing structures.. Inappropriate and vulgar descriptions of excretory and urinary habits of Pompeiians. Long walk back to bus in high heat for return to our ship. Better to spend extra and take a private tour. Most experiences we have had w Viator tours have been very positive but this one was a bust. We were picked up at the port with another couple from the cruise ship. The driver did not speak English. He drove for about 20 minutes and then picked up our Guide. We continued to pick up more people along the way. We were expecting a small group tour of Pompeii as was the other couple from the cruise ship, and when we got to Pompeii we were thrown into a group of 43 people. Pompeii was totally chaotic, and Viator was extremely disorganized. Then the Guide was going to leave us at Pompeii to find our own way back to the ship. We were constantly chasing her to find out what was going on and where we should go. Finally she took us to a big bus to go back to the ship and her and the driver got into a big argument, as he did not want to take us. We were all so confused as Viator tour guide was so disorganized, and upset that she was trying to pawn us off on someone else to find a way back to the ship. We booked several tours through Viator ..... this one was awful. Viator should refund us and the other couple our money ... we were so frazzled by the time we got back to the ship.

Unfortunately we had an issue with disembarkation and the city tour left without us :_br/_ The trip to Pompeii was wonderful and our guide was so great..I'm afraid I forgot to note her name. It was blazingly hot at Pompeii but she gave us chances at shade and moved at a pace that was doable in the heat. She was so knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. At the end, they swung us by a nice overview of Naples, which doesn't quiet make up for missing the city tour in the morning, but was nice.

This was a fiasco!! Our ship was detained for an hour due to port security. When we exited one of the first off the ship The tour guides were just being let into our area. They were holding up signs with names but ours wasn't on there. After a half hour of my frantically asking all the guides which one was Viator a young man pointed to two guides with PMG? shirts. I even asked him are you Viatour he said no. AFter another 10 minutes he dropped his name sign and I saw my name on the paper behind it! _br/_ My mom is in a portable wheelchair. I asked him if he was our guide and he told me our guide left because of the delay and someone else was coming. Another guide came over and took our voucher and said the same thing that our guide was coming soon. I overheard one of the passengers say to him -lets go- I don't want to be with them they will slow us down. I waited another 45 minutes and finally a very rude woman named Maria showed up and said that they were going to add us to their group which didn't leave for another half hour and that we would only get half of the tour I paid for!! So I left and hired a taxi to take us to town. They were UNORGANIZED, RUDE, DISCRIMINATORY, . I realize VIATOUR hires local guides to fulfill their tours. But his Naples company was awful. NEVER AGAIN. I have lost my faith in VIATOUR.

Naples tour guide was great, however, in Pompeii we got merged with another group and the guide and #39;s accent was so strong that she was not understandable. So sad because Pompeii is an amazing place and we really wanted to know all about it. I love that Viator and #39;s vendors are usually _br/_ so reliable.

Our party of six met the tour driver at the ship at 8:00 AM, as scheduled. They did not leave until 8:30 AM using the time to add other people to the tour. When we got to our first destination Cathedral, the tour guide, who joined the tour there, told us they had to rush through everything since they were 30 minutes behind schedule as if it was our fault!. At about 10:15 AM they dropped all the guests off at a plaza and told those who were continuing to Pompei to meet them later, and told those who were not continuing to walk back to the boat. Then learning that after driving to Pompei the tour was not in the van but required two hours of walking, all six of us elected not to go, even though we had paid for the tour. My husband, with his bad knee, could not have walked even a small fraction of the two hours, especially on such a hot and humid day. The tour guide refused to drive us back to the ship, telling us the ship was a short 5 minute walk. The short 5 minute walk turned out to be a long 40 minute walk. My husband, with his bad knee, needed to stop 4 or 5 times during the walk to rest accounting for 10 of the 40 minutes. We cannot recommend this rude and unaccommodating tour, and plan to post this information on Trip Advisor as well as to similar sites. It was a horrible experience and just about a complete waste of the 500 cost!

Pompeii is worth seeing and the tour guide was knowledgeable. There was a bit of a problem with our driver being detained by police and we were stuck for an hour or so and lost our free time at Pompeii but still a good tour.

Our port pick up and drop off went off as per schedule and without a hitch, Our guide, Elisa, was simply amazing. We took the tour in English, but she is multilingual, and I think speaks 5 languages, so sometimes does the tour in French and other languages as well. She has been doing this for 25 years, and you can see she loves what she does! Her narrations of the information regarding the sites of Naples and Pompeii was extremely informative and entertaining, and never once boring. Would definitely recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful guide on this tour. I think her name is Elisa she has been doing it for 25 years . She was so informative went at a nice pace and kept things entertaining with little do you know where that saying came from etc. She had a wealth of knowledge never looking at notes and engaging with each of us individually. While Pompeii and Naples are beautiful and well worth the visit, this particular tour seemed quite disorganized. We constantly stopped to either add more people or drop people off, we changed guides twice and vehicles several times. The most disappointing is that we were a group of 60 in Pompeii, which covers a very large area and our guide seemed to be the only one that didn't have some sort of flag, so we could see here among the Tens of Thousands of other visitors.

Our trip to Pompeii was more than i expected. Our guide was Maria and she was amazing. She shared a great deal of information and included many fun facts so she really kept our interest. We also toured Naples. I could have skipped this. We did visit a beautiful cathedral but that was pretty much the only highlight. Our driver picked us up at the ship on time and since we did the 1/2 day tour we had time to get lunch in the city.

If I could change anything, it would be to spend more time in Pompeii. We toured a church and drove around Naples but I would have rather spent the time at Pompeii than driving around. The two tour guides were very nice and knowledgeable.

Tour was just 5 hours so time was limited in Naples but our tour guide Elisa did a good job and driver in navigating us through the boisterous and chaotic city that Naples is, stopping at some of the more interesting sights. It was on to Pompeii for a 2 hour tour which is a place I had always wanted to visit. Elisa provided a lot of interesting facts made more interesting by her lively and fun personality.

The Naples portion of the tour started badly as we had to wait for more than 20 minutes outside of a hotel for another group of visitors from Argentina before starting the Naples tour. There was not much to see and the cathedral that we visited was not very interesting. The Pompeii portion of the trip was however very good with a very good guide. The logistics at the end was very haphazard as we not told we will not be going back in the same van that we used that morning. Some people had left some personal stuff in the van. The tour guide that who had accompanied us from Naples to Pompeii did not communicate with us after the Pompeii visit about new travel arrangements our toilet facilities. Overall toilet facilities were very inadequate this seems to be case all over Italy.

I was disappointed with the Naples City element of the tour, and also felt that the tour title was slightly deceptive. To me Naples City and a Half day tour of Pompeii implies a full day tour including a half day in Pompeii, but this isn't what you get. The guide was helpful and knowledgeable, but we didn't really get a flavour of Naples as a city.

This tour was sub standard from the start. Driver was not standing with other guides displaying names. We finally found him and found he had a name list but did not display it. Driver did not speak English. We drove about 10 minutes then a woman jumped in the van. She was our guide but we had to race to another point to pick up an Italian couple who were mad. Suddenly our English tour became 2 languages. We continued to pick up other customers for other tours so we were either racing or waiting.
