One of our favorite activities in New Orleans! We had Julie and she was so funny and knowledgable. This is enough food for a big lunch and it is all delicious!

This was one of our favorite tours during our visit to New Orleans. Pat was our instructor and she was fantastic! They had a mirror above her cooking station so you could see exactly what she was cooking. She had a great personality and sense of humor and answered a lot of questions as she explained the history of New Orleans cooking. The chicken and sausage gumbo was my favorite dish and was delicious! The Jambalaya was very good and not sticky or clumpy at all. The pralines and banana foster were a great ending to the class. I also really enjoyed the lemonade and beer that was served. I wasn't a huge fan of the hard biscuits served in the beginning of the class though. I highly recommend this tour as you'll get a few good laughs, knowledge of some great history, and some amazing food!

Always a great experience over the years, I've done this three times. Chefs are always engaging and the food is delicious. You sit with other people and that's aways fun.

Everyone we asked before going to New Orleans shared the food is great. What better to do than to take a cooking class and this class was outstanding. We were shown how to make gumbo, jambalaya, and pralines. WOW! Not only did it look easy to make, but it was very flavorful and delicious. Now the proof will be making it at home, which is the next step. Highly recommend this experience to take home.

This was a great experience to learn to cook a classic New Orleans gumbo and sample it too!

Pat was adorable. Not only did we learn to cook gumbo, jambalaya, bread pudding and pralines, we learned the history of how different countries contributed to make these delicious dishes.

This demonstration was a fun way to spend a few hours, however if you are in a large class you will find it difficult to hear the instructor at times and if you are a seasoned cook you may find some of the information provided to be on the basic skill set side. Its a shame the demonstration classes are so large as if they were slightly smaller in size you may get more out of the 2.5 hours. Having said that, you get to try the food that has been cooked and also get the recipes to take home with you which is a nice touch.

Great experience in this cooking class. We had so much to eat, which I wasn't expecting. Everything was delicious and the chef was informative and funny. Had fun shopping after for spices and a terrific wooden spoon.

Excellent morning with plenty of wonderful food to try. Inspirational cooking, can't wait to try the recipes at home.
Review by: Kara F, March 2018
It was not interactive and I expected it to be. Maybe I missed this in the enrollment on line, thus could be my mistake, none the less I was disappointed. He also gave us a two hour history less versus a cooking lesson. Although, it was interesting, it is not what I desired to do. I truly desired to learn to cook the menu items. I learned very little if anything in the class that I did not already know.

Super class demo and you are fed what was professionally cooked. Different day, different menu...but always appy, main and dessert based on New Orleans cooking. Water, tea and beer included along with an interesting chef...don't miss it classes at 10-12 or 2-4 as well as smaller cook it yourself classes.

We enjoyed the cooking class. The chef was entertaining. In addition to showing us how to prepare three dishes which my wife enjoyed, he was able to explain the historical context behind how the dishes were developed over time which I enjoyed. We were served gumbo, jambalaya, and pecan pie enough food that we decided not to go for dinner after, as originally planned. A fun way to spend an afternoon in New Orleans.

We booked 3 different tours in New Orleans and I loved them all. The cooking class was my favorite. While learning how to make gumbo, jambalaya and pralines, you also get to enjoy eating the food while enjoying beverages which even include beer. All for the price of the cooking class. It was wonderful.

We attended the afternoon New Orleans Scool of Cooking class. Our chef Ed was excellent. He gave great tips, slipped in many history facts about New Orleans, and showed the group how to cook the three dishes. Best of all, we got to eat the results. We even got seconds! The class made me appreciate regional dishes and the history behind them. Plus the price was right.

The chef taught us a lot of where the New Orleans food and recipes came from. He gave us recipes and we watched him make it...with clear explanations. We also got to eat what he made. We made gumbo, jambaylai, and pralines._br/_ I highly recommend this class. They gave us water, tea and beer to drink.

Our chef, Ann, made this a hilarious couple of hours. She's one of a kind. A good cook, a fabulous raconteur who cooked, joked, told us some history, shared stories. She made the time fly by. Would definitely recommend this tour.

The food is great and the instructors are fun characters. They demonstrated how to make local dishes and provided printed recipes. At the end, you get to sample all the wonderful food. I highly recommend attending a cooking class or two!.

Review by: Christie P, November 2017
This was wonderful! The food was great and our teacher was extremely personable. A few of the attendees myself included agreed that if she had her own TV show, we'd watch it! You get to learn a lot about New Orleans history during the demo, too, so it's not just all about food. I highly recommend this experience for anyone traveling to or near the French Quarter.

This class was very entertaining. I thought attendants would be actually cooking, however you're watching the instructor cook while speaking about the origin and flavors of the meal. Other than that, it was a great class!
Review by: Ronald K, October 2017
I felt that the seating could have been better as I had a difficult time seeing what was going on as well as offer different food options such a vegetarian option. The instructor did adjust one he found out but I would like to see that as part of the online registration process. Overall, it was a great experience.

The Cooking Class was brilliant, made all the more so by our 'teacher', Pat. She demonstrated how to prepare Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Pecan Pie and Pralines - it was easy to follow because she has a most likable presentation manner and, although she was on a raised platform at the front of the room, there was a nifty mirror so that you could see down into the cooking pots.

We took this class last year with Kevin and enjoyed the humor, easy manner, and sharing of culture and cuisine. We had a different demonstrator this year, who was just as fun. How easy the recipes are, and they taste different when each and everyone cooks them, including me, due to adjusting seasonings to personal taste. Well worth the dollars and time. Also, you get discounts off any purchases made after the class, from the store. Overall, WONDERFUL

Our whole family really enjoyed this class--Anne was a great instructor/story teller making the morning quite fun. There was actually a lot of food as well. We started with hot biscuits and then got to taste larger portions of our four items we watched her cook. They even brought out beer! I was pleased that we learned a few cooking tips along the way as well. Fun and unusual way to enjoy the morning.

The class was absolutely amazing! We were fortunate enough to have Ms. Pat as our chef she made gumbo, jambalaya, pralines and bread pudding we also received pitchers of water, tea and a local beer to share. Ms. Pat provided an honest and thorough history of New Orleans sprinkled with humor and insights into early settlers daily lives. She explained the origin of every single ingredient she used. I would definitely take this class again when I go back to N.O. They offer several classes a day with different menus. I would like to try a hands on class next time.
Review by: Carey C, April 2017
If you like learning about the cuisine of the area you are visiting, this is the place to go. Besides getting to eat everything, learning how these flavors came to be combined was great. Chef Kevin is funny, and personable. You will not be allowed to withdraw, as he will make sure you are as much a part of the cooking as possible. Had I realized there was a hands on class offered, I would have jumped all over that. But if you're just into hanging and having fun, this is a great way to spend an afternoon, getting to meet New Orleans by visiting your friend Big Kevin in his kitchen, and see what he's whipping up for lunch.
