Embark on a full-day kayaking journey through historic Silver Springs State Park from Orlando, discovering Florida’s native wildlife — including its alligators — and flora and fauna as you go. Set out upon the crystal clear, aquamarine waters of the park’s spring-fed Silver River and learn about the history of the area while paddling. Your guide will also help you spot the park's tree-dwelling Rhesus monkeys along the way. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Orlando are included.
Your tour begins with pickup from your Orlando hotel, where you'll board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for Silver Springs. On arrival, you'll start with a 1-mile (1.6-km) paddle down a kayak trail, reaching the Silver River. From here, head 4 miles downstream and be sure to have your camera in tow.
Spot local sea life beneath the crystal-clear surface of this spring-fed river and keep an eye out for alligators, otters and turtles sunning on its banks. You may also spot an elusive black bear. Along the way, your guide informs you of the river’s history and Silver Springs State Park — home to the state’s first tourist attraction. You’ll learn about the tropical plants that grow along the riverside and practice spotting the park’s tree-dwelling Rhesus monkeys.
Bask in the beauty of the river and its surrounds, both of which have been used as the set of numerous television and films sets including Tarzan, Creature from the Black Lagoon and even an episode of Steve Irwin’s Crocodile Hunter.
