Leave your Rome hotel in the early morning, and head to the Campania region in the south of Italy. Your journey lasts around three hours, but your minivan is comfortable and air conditioned, and your driver-guide will explain the day’s itinerary on the way.
First stop is the picture-perfect town of Amalfi, on the luscious Amalfi Coast. Once a major naval power, the town is now known for its stunning coastal scenery; it clings to a jagged rock face looking down over the turquoise Tyrrhenian Sea. Gaze in admiration at the white- and pastel-colored houses that smatter the hillside, and perhaps take a stroll along its perfectly groomed beaches.
Meet your driver-guide at the pre-arranged time, and then head inland toward the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii -- the world-famous ancient village that lay buried under layers of volcanic ash for centuries. Explore the area with your guide on a 2-hour walking tour, documenting the site’s history from AD 79 when Mount Vesuvius erupted, to the early 18th century when it was ‘discovered.’ Hear history come to life with tales of ancient Romans who once lived here.
From Pompeii, return north to Rome by minivan. Your tour then finishes back at your hotel in the late evening.
We had such an incredible day, one that we will never forget. Our driver and guide, Mido, took great care of us all day long. He made sure we knew everything about the places we were driving through. The lunch was top notch, we bought their home made olive oil, wine, and limoncello, and the view was epic. I could go on and on, but I will keep repeating the words, fantastic, excellent, one of a kind, and over the top, etc. If you are travelling to Rome, book this tour.

What an amazing day trip!!! I recommend to anyone thinking about taking this trip. I was hesitant to book it since it was such a long day and alot of time in the car BUT i am so glad we went. Our tour guide Mido was the best! He went above and beyond. He made sure we got great pictures, made sure we were comfortable, told us alot of history, and just made the day such a wonderful experience. The drive to the coast was beyond breathtaking.. I was a little nervous at first since reading the reviews about people getting carsick but Mido drove like such a professional I was totally fine. Our van had 3 other people who were so nice- we all had such a nice time together. The tour of pompeii was so amazing too such a great experience. I really cant say enough good things about this tour. FIVE STARS for sure!!!

Our driver and guide Khan picked us up in a Mercedes Benz Vito. Sat up front for the view. It was a 3 hour drive to Positano on the Amalfi coast with a bathroom, coffee break halfway. You pass thru the cities of Napoli and Sorrento on the way and through some quite long tunnels before arriving at the Amalfi coast. The vistas on the road to Positano are beautiful with the Mediterranean on the right. The drive is not for the faint of heart. Positano is stunning in beauty and charm with delightful shops. Many selling there famous pottery and lemoncello. After leaving Positano it was about a 45 to 50 minute ride to our lunch stop. The restaurant was in a lovely gardens outdoors with the biggest bird of paradise I've ever seen. It was a delicious meal of a bufalo mozzarella and tomato salad, chewy Italian bread and al dente pasta with zucchini or tomatoes. Then on to Pompei and all its fascinating history from the plaster casts to the red light district. Our guide Gaetano is a 3rd generation Pompei guide who loved his job which you could tell by his passion.

I've never had to make a complaint like this before but we had one of the worst experiences on this tour. I'm going to list the good and the bad as to be fair._br/_ Good:_br/_ Pick up was prompt at 6:45 AM at the designated pick up location_br/_ Lunch was great! Beautiful views and amazing caprese_br/_ The tour guide at Pompeii was prompt and helpful_br/_ Bad:_br/_ the driver did not talk to us in the first three hours except for when we past Mt Vesuvius he said volcano and pointed out the window_br/_ when asked questions he did not understand what was asked or told us to ask the driver of another van_br/_ The driver was often on his very large phone that took two hands for him to answer. One to hold the phone the other to press the answer button_br/_ we were always waiting in the van for another van to arrive or to depart, we might as well have been in a larger vehicle and paid less_br/_ We had no details of where we were going, we past the exit for Pompeii and asked where he was taking us_br/_ We stopped at a hotel for food and drink even though no members of the entire party in our bus wanted to stop_br/_ We liked the two stops along the Amalfi Coast but had to wait for another group for 15 minutes each to finish taking selfies and group photos_br/_ We only had 1 hour at Positano, after stopping at three places. Barely any time to actually do anything in the town_br/_ We arrived promptly back at the van and waited 10 minutes for the other van of people to arrive_br/_ Had lunch and then waited for the other group to finish._br/_ We arrive at Pompeii at 3:30 and our tour guide is told he only has 1.5 hours to give the tour, we paid for 2 hours._br/_ The tour guide, Hector, states, As you learned on your drive here the Milky Mountains, We now know for sure we missed out on what our tour was supposed to entail_br/_ The tour guide at Pompeii is prompt and does the best he can but skips parts he wishes we could have seen_br/_ We get on the road and about 20 minutes later he pulls over to use the restroom, none of the guests asked to pull over and none of us get out. He could have done this while we were at Pompeii. He uses the restroom and has a cigarette, complains he has been up since 4 am_br/_ We are now 2 hours and 15 minutes away from Rome and I'm in the middle seat in the middle row, I notice the driver's eyes start to get heavy sleepy. He starts shifting in his seat opens his window and rubbing his eyes. He drifts back and forth in the lanes, goes from 160 kph to 100 kph in the matter a minute. He'll suddenly hit the brakes when he is startled. I finally ask if I can drive as I'm fearing for our lives, he says nothing is wrong. After a few phone calls he pulls over claiming we have to wait for the van that is 10 kilometers behind us. Why would we have to wait for the van when we were heading back to our hotels? He comes back with a Red Bull_br/_ He asks, in a snear, if we want to be left there and get a taxi back_br/_ After this he starts driving again but slows to a speed of 60 kph, looking for the other minivan, why are we waiting for another van when all we are doing is going back to our hotel?_br/_ He then proceeds to make calls and talk to people, once swerving to answer his phone and almost hitting the barrier_br/_ In total we lost 100 minutes, waiting for other people, vans, and the driver_br/_ Given all the poor experiences combined against what was sold I expected a full refund for all four tickets. Our lives were stake and there was no information given outside the Pompeii tour guide. I don't think this is common and thus I didn't want to post this on Viator as I think mistakes in hiring do happen and believe a good company can make up for the mistake.

This review is complicated. The locations themselves were breathtaking. Our guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable. I would have loved more time in Positano. The lunch was also delicious. Locations 5. With that being said, as a few others have mentioned, the transportation was unacceptable for the price. Im willing to skip over the fact that the van went to wrong hotel despite 3 emails and a call where the tour operator validated that they had my correct hotel. The biggest issue is that there were 9 people including the driver in our van. That meant 3 people per row squeezed together, including the front row with the driver where there is a large console in the middle, meaning that the person sitting in the middle had no leg room, so the two front passengers had to share the limited legroom - for hours at a time. Also, be aware that semi private is very misleading: with 9 people being transported per van, during stops, 3 full vans would then offload so that there would be one larger group - there was nothing close to semi private about this tour.

We can't say enough good things about this tour! If you have more time, I recommend taking separate tours as each location has so much to offer but if you have limited days in Rome, this is the way to go. _br/_ The weather was completely uncooperative and rained most of the day but our guides made it special none the less. Salvatorre was our guide for Positano and Almafi and he was knowledgeable and super funny! We spent the entire day talking and laughing with him.

I loved this tour! I had my heart set on seeing the Amalfi coast but heard that driving there yourself is not a good idea. The driving was crazy, so glad I did the tour instead, it was worth every penny. Khan was our guide and he was awesome! He navigated smoothly through the busy streets and hairpin turns all while sharing interesting info about the sites we passed. The place we stopped for lunch, Dal Patriarca, was fantastic. Our tour of Pompeii was great too, I so wish I could remember the name of our tour guide in Pompeii because he was excellent and made the tour both interesting and fun. It was a very long day but well worth it!

We took this tour from Rome and glad we did. It's a long day but Pompeii, Amalfi and Positano are must see places. Wish we could have stayed the night in Amalfi or Positano. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

we recently traveled on this tour and although the guide was excellent, and the scenery fantastic, the travel within the van was less than great. There was a LOT of time spent within the vehicles hours of driving which would have been fine and expected, except that there were 7 travelers. This meant that 2 people were jammed in the middle without much access to see much of anything for hours on end. This is a BIG miss for this tour and I encourage you to check how many people are on it before you book it._br/_ in addition, we had provided our hotel location and the day before the tour at 3:00 p.m. I was asked to provide the exact address before 5:00 or we might not get picked up the following morning?? This caused undue stress and was NOT customer friendly. _br/_ We paid good money for a sight seeing tour and not having access 100 of the time at least to a window seat is NOT good value. Specifically when you are winding up and down the mountain side. I was disappointed by this and would not recommend the tour unless you are guaranteed a window / less than 5 people on the tour. _br/_ I note again that our driver / guide was excellent.

This tour was amazing. Our driver was engaging and entertaining. Pompeii is spectacular, and the on-site guide really enhanced the experience with his stories. Positano was gorgeous, and lunch at Chez Black on the Mediterranean was amazing. The drive up the coast was beautiful.. It rained in Amalfi, but that didn't take away from the beauty. Good shopping, and a great tour. Very long day, as we were going from 6:30AM until almost 9PM, but well worth it.

This is a great tour; however, the 2 hours spent at Pompeii seems unnessecary given the packed agenda for the day. Achille is an incredible driver, knowledgeable tour guide, and friendly person!!! He made the day so much fun. Amalfi and Positano are incredible and the photo stops are breathtaking!

Everything from the prompt pick up to drop off was timely and perfect. Achilles was entertaining and careful driver do NOT attempt to drive this route on your own..... and Gaetano, who is a third generation tour guide in Pompeii, is superb. Pompeii was incredible with a guided tour. The drive through Postiano was stunning and the stop off points for pictures are worth the drive. Beware this is an incredibly long day with a lot of driving. The small van for transport at full capacity is uncomfortable. Amalfi was just ok, but the rest was outstanding. My favorite part was the view of postiano and the restaurant our driver recommended was the best meal I had in italy!

Terrible experience. The tour guide acted as a driver only. Very little facts were provided to us in this 13hour trip and only when we asked questions. At Pompeii, we were handed to a local tour guide who rushed us through the ruins, giving us very little information and getting upset when we stopped to take pictures. He told us that he had to rush to do the tour in one hour because our driver was in a hurry. After so little time in Pompeii we spent a ridiculous 9 hours driving in the beautiful but repetitive Almafi coast. During this time two female passangers sat in the front seat of the van with the driver where they were talking among the three all the way about personal stuff and the rest of the passangers were left excluded. Pompeii is one of those places that I dreamed about visiting since childhood and I almost cried with disappointment.

Had a great trip to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast! Excellent, fun driver, and there was only 5 of us in total on the tour. Guide in Pompeii was extremely knowledgeable, and the sights at Pompeii were amazing. The stops in Positano and Amalfi were also great. Fair warning, there is definitely moderate walking at both Pompeii and getting down to Positano and then back up to the car park. People with mobility issues would have difficulty, I believe.

Our tour guide/driver, Kahn, was fantastic. The tour picks you up and drops you off at your hotel. Kahn made the three hour tour pass quickly. There is a stop half way there. He showed us sites along the way and was very informative. He spoke good English and was always pleasant. You spend about an hour or so in Amalfi, drive an hour to Positano and spend about two hours there. Bring comfortable shoes for Positano as there are many steps to climb. For ten euros, you can ask a porter to drive you. Very nice restaurants on the beach. We ate a Chez Black which was very good. Next a drive to Pompeii and the tour. Kahn is an excellent driver and negotiated the winding roads with ease. I would highly recommend this tour.

What a beautiful day! Our driver Max was very informative and funny. The day is long, I was picked up at 7am and dropped off at 9:30pm so be prepared! Positano and the Almafi coast is breathtaking and Pompeii is incredible! The road is very windy, so be ready if you tend to get carsick. So worth it!

We had a wonderful experience on this tour! Our guide Khan was knowledgeable and a great driver on curvy and difficult roads. He stopped to help us get beautiful photo opps on the Amalfi coast and answered all our questions throughout the tour. Gaetano in Pompeii was amazing as well and we learned a lot that helped us understand all the ancient ruins we were seeing. It is a long day but there is a lot of travel time and limited time in each location, I only wish I could have spent several days in each place! Thank you Khan!

My mom and I did this tour last monday and it was amazing! _br/_ It was both our first time to Italy and could only spend 5 days and we're only suppose to stay in Rome. But my mom heard about the amalfi coast and since this trip was a gift to her I really wanted to try to give her a glimpse of it. I found this tour on the net and it seem perfect. My mom wanted to visit the coast and I've always wanted to go to Pompeii. _br/_ Booking this tour was the best thing! _br/_ Yes, one day is not enough, but when you are short in time this tour is the perfect combinaison! You got to see the coast, beautiful views and then to visit Amalfi and Positano. _br/_ Our driver, Khan, was really great! giving us great information all along the tour and making everyone feel comfortable! _br/_ It was amazing to discover the coast this way since we couldn't spend more time. _br/_ The Pompeii part of the tour was also incredible! _br/_ Our local guide Gaetano was sooo knowledgeable of the site and all the history! Plus he is a real entertaining guy, making the tour really fun even for the people in the group who we're not so much into history. _br/_ Of course I would had wish to spend more time in each places, but since it's a one day tour, and a really full one, you obviously can't. But even if it only was a day trip it's so well organise and the guides are so well prepared that it make it a perfect day! _br/_ I would highly recommend this tour to anybody!!

We had a fabulous experience! Amalfi Coast is gorgeous and Pompeii has an amazing history. It was smart to avoid traffic by starting to go through Amalfi Coast and ending up in Pompeii. Our drivertour guidephotographer Medu? from Egypt was very knowledgeable, helpful, entertaining and an excellent and safe driver. Our Pompeii guide Gaitano? was so much better than the tour guide I had from another company many years ago. He was very passionate about Pompeii which everybody enjoyed. I will definitely use Viator again and highly recommend it to family and friends.

Of all the tours we did while in Rome, we enjoyed this one the most. We were promptly picked-up and taken to the Amalfi Coast. Very picturesque and beautiful. lots to see and appreciate. nice places to eat right on the waterfront in Positano. You'll get a kick with that winding road, you'll be on._br/_ The Pompeii Ruins was interesting. The Guide was very knowledgeable and knew everything about anything in the Ruins, from roads to brothels. He made it fun. Roberto, you rock bro. This was the highlight of our Rome (antic) holiday. Positano is where you stop for 2 hours. Take your swimming togs and buy a handmade towell from DEA (little shop you will walk past). I don't want to ruin Roberto's commission but don't go to his restaurant of choice bit slow.

We so enjoyed traveling with our wonderful guide Khan and four others to see this beautiful area and ancient ruins of Pompeii. Breathtaking views of the coast and amazing to walk through this ancient city and hear how they lived. We were all grateful for the driving expertise of our guide Khan as he maneuvered the hairpin turns of the Amalfi coast!!

The tour took the whole day. Roberto our driver picked us up at the hotel at 7am . Our tour started on the south side of the Amalfi coast in a town called Maiori then made our way through the very winding streets. Stopped for several photo shoots of the coast. Then stopped in Amalfi where we purchased Limoncello and on to Positano where we had lunch. It took us a long time to get to Pompei due to the heavy tourist traffic on the narrow streets I would not suggest doing this on your own since parking is limited on the coast. We reached Pompeii around 5 and had a great guide give us the tour of the ruins. We were back at our hotel by 9pm

This was a fantastic experience- we had Maxim as our driver for the day. He pointed out many interesting historical items on our way to the Amalfi coast. He guided us to a wonderful restaurant in Positano for lunch and injected humor into everything! Highly recommend this tour!
