Poised overlooking the Pacific, La Jolla — whose name means “the jewel” in Spanish — is one of San Diego’s prettiest and most popular neighborhoods. It’s also home to a thriving food scene. On this 4-hour, afternoon walking tour, you’ll have the chance to taste the best of La Jolla, from a Hawaiian-style eatery to kobe beef sliders and craft beer. As you go, you’ll also learn about the neighborhood’s unique history, from the Scripps family to Dr. Seuss.
Meet your guide at 12:30 in the La Village of La Jolla, and be sure to arrive hungry: this is one of San Diego’s finest neighborhoods for eats and treats. Over the course of this 4-hour, small-group walking tour, you’ll enjoy a wide range of culinary samples. Your guide will also share some fascinating tidbits about the neighborhood’s history, from Dr. Seuss’s La Jolla past to why the Spanish dubbed this area “the jewel.”
Start your journey by the sea at a Hawaiian-style eatery (one of the few in the city) before your next stop: Richard Walker’s, where you’ll discover delectable apple pancakes.
After that, you’ll visit a bar where you can sink your teeth into a kobe beer slider and dabble in the city’s renowned craft beer scene, courtesy of the 300-strong bottle list (alcoholic beverages aren’t included in the ticket price, but are available to purchase).
Then, eat like a local at one of the best breakfast stops in the region, which is a hot spot for waffles, pancakes, and other morning classics.
The 4-hour walking tour ends overlooking the Pacific Ocean. At We Olive La Jolla, you can savor a variety of fine olive oils and vinegars, and enjoy a delicious glass of California wine, too.
Our tour guide David was superb!! He began by telling us what we were going to taste and experience on this tour. He was very knowledgable and professional plus he was funny and spent time with everyone. We tasted delicous food and saw sights, homes, museums hotels along the way that were historical. The walk was not strenous because we stopped to listen to history and before we knew it we were back on our way. My favorite food was the pork and jasmine rice at the Ohana Cafe although we did go to breakfast at Richard Walker's Pancake house but in San Diegoit was closer to where we were staying . Whenever we return to San Diego we are going to have a meal at the Ohana Cafe. This is a great way to learn of the area and the food! It was a fun time and well worth the . Thank you!

The guide was knowledgeable and the restaurants were very good. The only stop I didn't enjoy was the bakery where they passed out a bag of day old pastries.
