Board a comprehensive full day tour from Zurich and visit Mt. Rigi, Queen of the Swiss Mountains at 6,000 feet (1,800 meters). Your partly guided coach tour also includes a cable car ride, a decent down the first ever cogwheel train in Europe and a trip to the sun terrace above Lake Lucerne with its unique views over the snow-capped Alps!
Departing from Zurich you're off to Weggis, from where a cable car and cogwheel train take you to the top of Mt. Rigi. Here, you will have two and a half hours to soak up the breath-taking views or enjoy a walk in the snow. Admire the spectacular views over the Swiss Alps and thirteen lakes from the summit of Mt. Rigi.
Descent by cog-wheel train, followed by a romantic boat ride to Lucerne. Enjoy up to two hours at leisure to explore the charming Old Town. Return to Zurich, where the tour will conclude.
Please note: This tour includes a multi-lingual guide throughout the tour except for travel up and down Mount Rigi and during the boat ride. For this part of the tour, you will receive timetables and detailed information sheets about the journey. You can choose to stay on the mountain for one or two and a half hours.
Between November 7 and 18, the aerial cable car is under maintenance. In this case you will travel up and down Mt. Rigi by cogwheel train.

We went there for a panorama view, but its snowy and all you can see is fog. To make it worst, the tour guide cut the time we spent on top from 2 hours to 1 hour. My kids wasnt able to play on the snow as they want us to go down asap. It's just bad. I do hope they have at least a partial refund of the payment as we did not get the real value of what we paid for. We live in UAE and the additional time playing on snow is a great fun for my kids. _br/_ The trip is a winter day trip, and they didnt even give us time to play on the snow.

Great budget friendly trip for those who do not have cars or ability to rent a car here. Provided everything you need for the day trip except food, and views were great! I would do this again, but beware that most of the tour is not guided.

A godd day,. Be prepared when visiting in winter with appropriate foot ware and clothing. The tarp gave time to oneself to explore. Pick up inLucerne was late.

The day was terrible. The weather was very bad and the company didn't advise me. The company didn't offer any support, just left me on the montain, gave me the tickets and i did all by my self. I'm a tourist i dont know what is the best day to make this kind of visit, was one obligation that company advise me about the wheater and that it was impossible see anything on the mountain that day. If was a serious company they would refunded my money or advise me to go up to mountain another day. In resume, i dont indicat this company to anyone.

The tour is actually guide less which was fine because it gave me ample time to explore on my own. The view of the Swiss Alps were magnificent and breathtakingly beautiful. Good snow anti-slip boots are highly recommended. After exploring Mt Rigi, the ride down on the cogwheel tram was another awesome experience. Then a boat ride to Lucerne and another unguided free time to explore until the tour bus pick-up back to Zurich. Overall, I'm satisfied and happy with the tour by Best of Switzerland Tours.

Overall it was fine. Part of the trip was unescorted which ended up being fine, however in the description this was not clearly explained. I would have felt better about the process if I had been advised when I purchased the ticket.

The weather white-out whipping winds! didn't make for a great time at the top of Mount Rigi and I have to admit some nervousness in the aerial cable car due to the high winds we were one of the last trips up the mountain before they had to shut the car down for the day because of the winds! but the train ride down the mountain and the Lake Lucerne ferry excursion by itself was worth it. Enjoyed my unguided walking tour of Lucerne. While the entire day could have been managed without buying the tour, there was significant value in buying the tour and not having to figure out how to get from Point A to Point B on your own. I enjoyed the convenience of having all of the transportation pre-booked for me and really enjoyed the sights, even with less than optimal weather. The guide for the bus portion of the tour was both knowledgeable and friendly. You shouldn't have any regrets booking this trip!

Loved this trip! You get to see so much and I liked that it's mostly self-guided. It was easy to get from one meeting point to the next. Really enjoyed the train ride up through the snowy mountains and the boat ride across to Lucerne. Beautiful scenery!

This was not a guided tour. We were dropped off at Mount Rigi and then told where to be picked up in Lucerne. We had an enjoyable day looking at things, just did not have any information as to what we were looking at.

We were the only two on board our coach who went to Mount Rigi and I do not know why! It's a popular destination for locals and we enjoyed watching them ski and sled. We took the aerial cable car up, which is about a 12-15 minute ride. We watched the lush green scenery turn into wintry beauty of snow capped mountains and newly fallen snow. The cable car stops near the Hotel Rigi Kaltbad which is just a couple minutes walk to the cogwheel train. The train is heated and takes you up to the top of the mountain where there's another hotel, places to eat and breathtaking views at an altitude of about 1,800 metres. We made our way up to the Rigi-Kulm-Hotel for a window-side table, with amazing views, and enjoyed lunch and a glass of wine while we warmed up and watched the show fall. We spent about three hours up at the summit before taking the train back down to the ski resort area where we went into the Hotel Alpina for a beer and a snack then again boarded the train to the bottom of the mountain There we took a Lucerne River cruise aboard the MS Europa. She's a gorgeous 70 foot boat and once again, the scenery was breathtaking. All the mountain-top snow was, unfortunately, rain once we got into Lucerne so we didn't get to see as much of the city as we had hoped. All in all, my husband and I agree this trip far exceeded our expectations. Our guide Annette, kept an interesting and informative commentary going while on the coach, and we enjoyed the un-accompanied time up on Rigi. Looking back, this day definitely ticks a box on our Bucket List and we would go again if given the opportunity. I highly recommend this day out.

Very satisfactory, giving you the chance to enjoy beautiful Swiss nature, mountains and lakes. Nicely organized and leaves plenty of private time. Actually you are with the guide and other participants only when in the bus on the way from Zurich to the cable car, and on the way back from Lucerne to Zurich.

This is a semi-guided tour and tour guide really did not give us complete detailed information. This tour basically only provided the transportation and 80% of the journey is up to your own explore. The day we_br/_
joined this tour it was a big snow day, so we could not get out the cowwig train to view anything either._br/_

Excellent value, especially given how expensive things can be in Switzerland. Unfortunately it was snowing so much on top of the mountain that I couldn't see the amazing views until I started down the mountain on the train. But still a fantastic tour, which I would pay to go on again. Also the city of Lucerne was very pretty and the tour guide was very helpful and informative.

Mind blowing, the most amazing pictures we have from the trip, were taken on this tour. This was a highly organised and adventurous trip. The entire tour lasted about 9 hours, just as it mentions in the description. The details of the trip are true to their description. It was a combination of bus, cable car, cogwheel train, boat and then bus back to Zurich again. My husband and I did not imagine Mt Rigi would be so breath-taking. Everything we did thereafter, we compared with this trip. Even in the winter there was so much sunshine once we reached the peak. Lovely restaurants and cafes for snacks as you climb up the mountain, and there was enough time to take a walk, get a bite and take lots of pictures before departing for the boat.

This was a great day touring around Switzerland, but a few things to be aware of: Besides the bus dropping you off in Wessig and picking you up in Lucerne (passes to the cable car, cogwheel train, and boat ride are provided), the entire day is left on your own. It would be worth it to research the activities and sights on Mount Rigi and in Lucerne since this will be completely unguided. Also, the bus was 45 minutes late picking us up from Lucerne. Overall, though, this tour definitely saves you the time of researching and planning how to tour the beautiful countryside on your own.

A great way to see the mountain at your own pace, however those fond of a guide be warned that almost all the day is self guided. We were dropped at the bottom of the mountain in Weggis about 10.15am, and picked up at 6pm at Lucerne, another village a boat ride away. Spent the time in between on our own sledding and wandering around, this tour is highly recommended if you want to either enjoy a nice mountain walk/leisurely lunch or go sledding at your own pace. Definitely a great day trip, and easier and cheaper than organising transport ourselves! (The tour includes a cable car/all day train trip so you can sled down then train up again as much as you want, plus the boat ticket to Lucerne!)

Was scheduled to do this tour in mid Jan 2014, and when I got to the meeting point the tour officer recommended I change to the Mt Titlis tour instead, due to the weather at the time; apparently there wouldn't have been much to see with all the fog. So I took her advice and went on the Mt Titlis tour, which was fantastic and I had a great time (I would give it 5 stars). So unfortunately for this review section's sake, I'm not sure what this Mt Rigi tour would have been like...

We really enjoyed the tour. However, we did miss the cable car we'd been told to get as the queue was so long. As a result we also missed the connecting train to the summit. It would have been helpful to leave Zurich on time so our guide could have made sure this didn't happen.

This excursion was the best part of our holiday to zurich. The views from mount rigi are breath taking and looking at all the swiss houses on the way to it was magical. definitely worth the money. make sure you pick a day that is supposed to have clear weather for clear views

We chose this tour partly based on positive reviews, the different modes of transportation offered and time given in each location. Transportation was well organised and the guided tour - given on the bus during pick up point to first drop off, covered abit of Zurich city and Swiss history. The rest of the time you're on your own until meetup point again in Lucerne.

The drive from Zurich to Mount Rigi was great. It was very scenic and beautiful. The tourguide was very friendly and pleasant. The busdriver did a great job The biggest disappointment was when we reached the top of Mount Rigi. We booked this tour because it was mentioned very specifically that we could go and do sledge riding on Mount Rigi. On arriving there we were told that it was no longer possible. I am very sorry you cannot say things like that, get people to book a tour and then we must discover we were miss lead. There was another family on the same tour who had exactly the same expections. The little boy was very upset when he discovered he could not go and do sledge riding. We complained to the tourguide. She checked on the internet and said we were correct. It was advertised with the option of doing sledge riding. Telling me she was sorry did not solve my problem. I could have booked another tour in and around Zurich that would not have been so expensive if I had known the true facts. The boat trip was good. We were left on our own to explore Lucern. Sorry I cannot recommend this tour if you want to go and do sledge riding. But once again I must mention the tourguide and busdriver were great.

The tour was wonderful. We received clear, understandable instructions on where to meet our tour leader. I felt that we got to spend time on our own exploring the sights, which was nice. I might have spent less time on Mt Rigi so I could spend more time touring Lucerne. Very nice tour.

Me and my wife had a wonderful experience with this trip. A combination of all 3 modes of transport road,rail and water and was well organised. Would wouldn't want to do this tour? Taking the cog wheel train high above the clouds that hung over the city of Zurich until we reached the top and the sun was out and the views spectacular. Had a nice lunch on top and took the Red train down the other other side to Vitznau to take a boat to Lucerne, boat took 1 hour and the views were so beautiful. Had free time in Lucerne which was so very nice. The one surprise was once the guide took us to the train we were on our own all day, I was a little worried at first but it turned out just fine. I thing that should have been mentioned in the trip information.
